Chapter 132 Give it a try

A flicker of hesitation crossed Princess Ziyan's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by determination. She sneered, "Bai Yujing, do you think your words can change my mind? Let me tell you, it's impossible. Jiang Huaiyu, come here."

Jiang Huaiyu hesitated for a moment, but still walked over. Princess Ziyan looked her up and down, her tone icy: "You're just a lowly merchant's daughter, how dare you be so arrogant in front of me?"

Jiang Huaiyu bit her lip, suppressing her fear. She knew that Princess Ziyan had gone mad, and any resistance would be futile.

“Princess Ziyan, although I come from a humble background, I am still a wife of the Bai family, and I have my own dignity,” Jiang Huaiyu said firmly.

Upon hearing this, Princess Ziyan's eyes flashed with murderous intent. She sneered, "Fine, fine, fine, I'd like to see how much dignity you have."

After saying this, she turned to the maid beside her and whispered a few instructions. The maid nodded and turned to leave.

Seeing this, Bai Yujing was extremely anxious. He knew that Princess Ziyan was going to deal with Jiang Huaiyu. He quickly stepped in front of Jiang Huaiyu and said in a deep voice, "Princess Ziyan, if you have any problems, come at me. Don't hurt her."

Princess Ziyan sneered, her eyes full of mockery: "Bai Yujing, who do you think you are? Do you think you can protect her? Let me tell you, you are nothing but a joke."

Bai Yujing clenched his fists. He knew that Princess Ziyan was beyond reason at this moment. He could only try to buy time and wait for an opportunity.

Just then, a maid rushed in, carrying an envelope. She walked up to Princess Ziyan and whispered, "Princess, this is a letter from Lord Jia."

Princess Ziyan took the envelope, glanced at it, and a strange look flashed in her eyes. She opened the envelope, and the contents made her expression change drastically.

She raised her head, looked at Bai Yujing, and said in a cold tone, "Bai Yujing, do you think you can change anything by stalling for time? Let me tell you, you're wrong."

Bai Yujing's heart tightened; Princess Ziyan already knew something. He watched her nervously, wondering what she would do next.

Princess Ziyan stood up, her eyes filled with determination: "Bai Yujing, listen to me carefully. In three days, you must agree to marry me. Otherwise, I will make you pay the price."

After saying that, she turned and left, leaving Bai Yujing and Jiang Huaiyu with worried expressions.

Bai Yujing watched Princess Ziyan's retreating figure, his heart filled with helplessness.

Jiang Huaiyu gripped Bai Yujing's hand tightly, her eyes filled with worry: "Husband, what should we do?"

Bai Yujing took a deep breath, looked at Jiang Huaiyu, and said firmly, "No matter what, I will protect you and will not let you get hurt."

...

Bai Yujing's heart skipped a beat. She stared at Princess Ziyan with trepidation and questioned loudly, "Princess Ziyan, what are your intentions? Why do you want to harm Huaiyu?"

Princess Ziyan smiled gently, a sly glint in her eyes. She clapped her hands lightly, and two warriors immediately appeared in the room, standing behind her.

“Bai Yujing, don’t you understand? I just want Jiang Huaiyu to taste the pastries I’ve prepared.” Princess Ziyan said, pointing to the exquisite pastries laid out on the table.

Bai Yujing watched the two martial artists nervously. They were burly and fierce, clearly highly trained warriors. He knew that, as a scholar, he was no match for them.

"Princess Ziyan, we are very grateful for your snacks, but Huaiyu is unwell and should not eat them." Bai Yujing tried to stall for time and think of a solution.

Jiang Huaiyu sat to the side, her face pale, but her eyes resolute. She knew that Princess Ziyan's purpose was not pure, but she also understood that she could not easily give in.

Princess Ziyan smiled, a flash of coldness crossing her eyes: "Bai Yujing, don't you understand? The reason I'm interested in Jiang Huaiyu is because she's your wife from the Bai family, and I just happen to be a little curious about the Bai family's affairs."

Bai Yujing's heart tightened. He knew that Princess Ziyan had long coveted the Bai family's power, but now he couldn't be sure of her true intentions.

“Princess Ziyan, the affairs of the Bai family are naturally our own business, and outsiders have no right to interfere.” Bai Yujing tried to uphold the dignity of her family.

Princess Ziyan smiled slightly, turned around, picked up a pastry, and handed it to Jiang Huaiyu: "Jiang Huaiyu, try it. I specially prepared this for you."

Jiang Huaiyu frowned slightly. She knew this might be a trap set by Princess Ziyan, but she couldn't refuse.

Just then, Bai Yujing suddenly rushed forward and stood in front of Jiang Huaiyu: "Princess Ziyan, you can't treat Huaiyu like this."

Princess Ziyan's eyes turned cold, and two warriors immediately stepped forward and dragged Bai Yujing aside. Bai Yujing struggled, trying to break free, but ultimately could not resist.

"Bai Yujing, don't you understand? In this chaotic world, the weak have no voice," Princess Ziyan said coldly.

Jiang Huaiyu looked at Bai Yujing, a warm feeling welling up in her heart. She knew that Bai Yujing was protecting her. She slowly stood up and faced Princess Ziyan: "Princess Ziyan, I would like to try your pastries."

A hint of surprise flashed in Princess Ziyan's eyes, then she smiled and said, "Alright, then you should try it."

Jiang Huaiyu took the pastry and took a small bite. She deliberately pretended to savor it, then suddenly coughed.

"Huaiyu, what's wrong?" Bai Yujing asked anxiously.

Jiang Huaiyu gently shook her head, looking at Princess Ziyan with a firm gaze: "Princess Ziyan, your pastries are indeed delicious, but I prefer those made by Bai Yujing."

A hint of resentment flashed in Princess Ziyan's eyes; she hadn't expected Jiang Huaiyu to react this way. She sneered, "Jiang Huaiyu, do you think you can move me like this?"

Jiang Huaiyu smiled and said, "Princess Ziyan, I didn't mean to impress you. I just wanted to tell you that Bai Yujing is my support, and I will not leave him because of your threats."

Princess Ziyan's eyes turned cold, and two warriors immediately stepped forward, ready to attack. Just then, a maid rushed in, holding a letter in her hand.

"Princess, there's a letter for you," the maid said, panting.

Princess Ziyan took the letter, opened it, and her expression immediately became complicated. She glanced at Bai Yujing and Jiang Huaiyu, then said coldly, "I will not pursue today's matter any further. But Bai Yujing, remember this: you owe me a favor."

After saying this, Princess Ziyan turned and left, followed by the two warriors.

Bai Yujing and Jiang Huaiyu exchanged a glance, both relieved. They knew that the crisis was temporarily over, but the threat posed by Princess Ziyan still hung like a sword over their heads.

"Huaiyu, are you alright?" Bai Yujing asked anxiously.

Jiang Huaiyu gently shook her head: "I'm fine, just a little tired. Yujing, we need to be more careful from now on."

Bai Yujing nodded.

Bai Yujing glared angrily at Princess Ziyan, his eyes revealing an undeniable warning. Princess Ziyan was slightly taken aback, then stopped what she was doing, her brows furrowing slightly, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes.
