Jiang Huaiyu also said, "Master Qiu, your kindness is admirable. This old hen is truly lucky to have an owner like you."
Ling Mo turned his head and saw that Jiang Huaiyu was silent. He immediately explained, "Although Master Qiu may seem rough, he is actually a person who practices abstinence. What he said just now was just a joke."
Upon hearing this, Master Qiu's face darkened, and a hint of anger flashed in his eyes. He sneered, "Oh? Then I'd like to ask, how did Fellow Daoist Ling Mo discern that I am a recluse cultivator? Are you perhaps implying that I am a rogue?"
Ling Mo smiled slightly and said, "Master Qiu, you misunderstand. Upon hearing this, Master Qiu's expression softened slightly, but he was still somewhat displeased. He glared at Ling Mo and said, "Then why did you say such things in front of Jiang Huaiyu? Weren't you implying that I'm a scoundrel?"
Seeing this, Jiang Huaiyu quickly stepped forward, gently tugged at Master Qiu's sleeve, and said with a smile, "Master Qiu, you've misunderstood Ling Mo. He didn't say anything bad about you; he just told me you're a hermit. I think he probably felt that this better explained your behavior."
Upon hearing this, Master Qiu's face immediately turned awkward. He coughed, trying to ease the tension, and said, "Oh, I see. Then I misunderstood you, Fellow Daoist Ling Mo."
Ling Mo smiled slightly and said, "Master Qiu, it's all a misunderstanding, there's no need to take it to heart."
