Chapter 5 Rare Fish in the Classic of Mountains and Seas

Chapter 5 Rare Fish in the Classic of Mountains and Seas

In the afternoon, Cong Chun changed into the uniform that Butler Chen had brought.

The servants in the Duan family all wear uniform work clothes. Cong Chun has never worn clothes made of such good fabric. His clothes are all bought for him by his grandmother when she goes to the market. They cost three pieces for ten yuan. However, Cong Chun likes them very much. He doesn't feel bad if they get worn out. They are also convenient for him to help his grandmother with work in the fields.

The black trousers made Cong Chun's legs look long and straight. The boy wore a white shirt, and his slender neck resembled a lotus stem. He also wore a well-fitting dark suit vest, which accentuated his slim waist.

The only drawback is that Cong Chun is a bit too thin; the bones in her shoulders and back protrude like flower buds withering and breaking in the wind.

After changing into the nanny's uniform, Cong Chun was led to Duan Mingxiao by Butler Chen.

The young master was reclining on a deck chair in the backyard, looking completely at ease.

A large black dog was lying next to him, resting with its eyes closed.

Duan Mingxiao leaned back in the lounge chair, casually scattering fish food into the pool from his palm.

"Young Master, the new nanny has arrived."

Duan Mingxiao remained silent, leaving Butler Chen and Cong Chun standing awkwardly to the side.

Cong Chun saw Duan Mingxiao scattering fish food and curiously peeked into the pool a few times.

The fish in their countryside are raised in paddy fields. They never expected that the fish in the city would be so happy, living in such a beautiful place, with patterned tiles everywhere.

Immediately afterward, Cong Chun's gaze froze for a moment; the pond was completely empty and clear, with no fish at all.

Duan Mingxiao, who was standing to the side, saw Cong Chun's silly and dazed look and the corners of his lips turned up slightly.

[Little mongrel, I'll show you what rare fish really are in a minute.]

Rare fish? The familiar voice rang in Cong Chun's mind again, and the boy's gaze subconsciously fell on Duan Mingxiao.

Cong Chun had never seen any rare fish, only loach and grass carp caught and sold by vendors at the market in Ze'an Town, and the braised fish that his grandmother made for him every year during festivals.

However, he seemed to hear the young master's thoughts again, and it didn't seem to be a hallucination. Cong Chun's delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly.

[This little mongrel, how can it be so shameless? I know I'm handsome, but does it have to be this much of a lover?]

Duan Mingxiao noticed that Cong Chun's burning gaze was fixed on him, and clicked his tongue impatiently.

Well, it's only human nature, I can understand.

The boy was wearing a casual loungewear set today, with the collar of his moon-white silk shirt open, revealing his delicate, fair collarbone, and a limited-edition spring necklace from a certain luxury brand around his neck.

"Stupid Chun, you're not allowed to keep staring at me like that."

Duan Mingxiao's voice was low and slightly raised at the end, carrying a threatening tone.

Cong Chun felt a bit conflicted after hearing Duan Mingxiao's heartfelt words, but the boy still nodded firmly at her before looking away.

"I understand, young master."

Duan Mingxiao snorted unhappily upon hearing this.

[Boring, lacking any fighting spirit.]

Immediately afterward, Butler Chen, who was standing nearby, received the message and spoke respectfully.

"Young Master, Young Master Liu Zheng from the Liu family has come to visit."

Duan Mingxiao raised an eyebrow, a hint of excitement flashing in his eyes, and nodded noncommittally.

“Bring him here.”

Wow, rare fish have delivered themselves to our doorstep!

Then Duan Mingxiao clapped his hands helplessly, staring at the crumbs and bits of fish food left in his palm, his brows furrowed deeply, and his eyes revealed obvious disgust.

"Stupid Chun, come here and wipe my hands."

Upon hearing the young master's instructions, Cong Chun quickly took out a handkerchief from his collar and knelt slightly in front of Duan Mingxiao, carefully wiping his hands clean.

Cong Chun wiped his fingers and palms very carefully.

The eldest young master's hands were very beautiful, long and slender like jade, with distinct knuckles, unlike his own hands, which had developed thin calluses from helping his grandmother with farm work and constantly holding a pen to do exercises.

Duan Mingxiao could see Cong Chun's soft, dark hair whorl on top of her head, as well as her excessively long eyelashes and prominent nose when he lowered his eyes.

Suddenly, Duan Mingxiao felt a fire burning in his heart, making his whole body feel hot.

"Young master, I've brought him to you."

Liu Zheng's face no longer bore the arrogant expression he had at the entrance of Peking University yesterday. His head was wrapped in bandages, his right eyelid was swollen so badly that he could barely open his eye, and his face was a picture of utter disarray, a truly wretched sight.

"I'm sorry, Young Master Duan, I was really blind yesterday."

"I didn't recognize you. If I had known it was you earlier, I wouldn't have dared to talk back even if you gave me ten lives."

"Please forgive me."

Otherwise, the Liu family would not be able to survive. After all, everyone knows that Duan Mingxiao's father is Duan Chengshan, the president of the Jinghai City Chamber of Commerce, and his mother is Ms. Yun Lanshuang, a famous entrepreneur in China.

The injuries on Liu Zheng's face were not only from Duan Mingxiao's actions yesterday, but also from his father's nighttime beatings after he learned that he had offended Duan Mingxiao.

If he doesn't get Duan Mingxiao's forgiveness today, his father won't acknowledge him as his son anymore.

Liu Zheng cried so hard that he was practically begging Duan Mingxiao to kneel down and kowtow.

Duan Mingxiao pinched his nose and stepped back.

[Ugly thing, stay away from me.]

Ugly thing? Cong Chun couldn't help but think that compared to Young Master Duan next to him, Liu Zheng in front of him was indeed quite ugly.

He noticed that Cong Chun was looking at Liu Zheng, seemingly lost in thought.

Duan Mingxiao was inexplicably annoyed. He cleared his throat and showed mercy to Liu Zheng in front of him.

"Shut up, your crying sounds like a ghost's wail, it's ear-piercing."

"I'm not the kind of person who holds grudges. You've probably seen the fish food I scattered in the pond."

Liu Zheng hadn't reacted yet, thinking that the other party was going to be kind and forgive him, so he agreed to whatever Duan Mingxiao said, laughing happily.

"Young Master Duan, you're right. Whatever you say goes."

Upon hearing Liu Zheng's words, Duan Mingxiao couldn't help but sneer, a hint of malice flashing in his eyes.

"You said it yourself."

"There's a fish missing in this pool right now. I think you're passable, so you can barely fill in."

What do you think?

Liu Zheng, who was standing to the side, widened one eye in surprise, still wondering if he had misheard.

"Young Master, you must be joking with me."

Upon seeing Liu Zheng's reaction, Duan Mingxiao's face immediately darkened, and his previously smiling voice suddenly became cold and unfriendly.

"I don't have time to joke with you."

"Eat all the fish food that's been thrown into the pool, and I'll forgive you, Liu Zheng."

Liu Zheng's face turned ashen. He glared at Duan Mingxiao with resentment, his teeth clenched.

"Duan, Ming, Xiao".

"Don't go too far...!"

Duan Mingxiao rolled his eyes and said to Cong Chun beside him.

"Come help me up."

Cong Chun stepped forward and helped Duan Mingxiao up. The boy's arm was casually draped over Cong Chun's shoulder, and he could still smell the young master's expensive and pleasant perfume.

Duan Mingxiao gave Liu Zheng, who was standing to the side, no polite instructions.

"You come stand over here for me."

Liu Zheng's face returned to its obsequious expression; as long as this young master didn't make him a fish to be eaten as fish food, everything was negotiable.

Liu Zheng stood in front of Duan Mingxiao, and the next second, Duan Mingxiao kicked him hard into the swimming pool.

"Stop dawdling on the shore, I'll take you down."

"Don't be so polite with me."

Cong Chun was startled, and her eyelashes trembled slightly.

He suddenly stopped doubting that he had a mental illness; the one with a mental illness was the young master next to him.

Duan Mingxiao noticed that Cong Chun's gaze was fixed on Liu Zheng in the pool, and his tone became somewhat impatient.

"Stupid Chun, why are you staring at this water monkey?"

"Am I not more handsome than him?"

[What's so interesting about this damn water monkey? Why is Stupid Chun staring at it?]

Looking at it closely now, it's not just ugly in some parts, it's even uglier overall.

Cong Chun turned his head and looked up at Duan Mingxiao beside him.

"Young Master, you just told me not to look at you."

Duan Mingxiao: ...

"You stubborn fool! I told you not to look, why didn't you just secretly look?"

"If you peek, I, being kind by nature, will not hold it against you."

Cong Chun nodded obediently, indicating that she understood.

Suddenly, the surrounding sounds quieted down, and Duan Mingxiao's gaze fell on Cong Chun's lips, which looked soft, like fluffy bread.

He has always had excellent eyesight since childhood. Even when he tries his best, his vision is still 5.2. At this moment, Duan Mingxiao can see the fine hairs on Cong Chun's skin.

There is no doubt that Cong Chun has an extremely handsome face, but he himself is unaware of it.

Duan Mingxiao subtly shifted his gaze, but red silently crept up behind his ear.

His tone softened, and his gaze became somewhat unfocused.

"Look if you want, these are rare fish that only appear in the Classic of Mountains and Seas."

"Thanks to me, you've seen this today, so hurry up and thank me."

Cong Chun looked at Liu Zheng, who was in a disheveled state in the water, with sticky yellow fish food clinging to his body.

Cong Chun's beautiful lips couldn't help but curl upwards, and she felt a little happy inside.
