Chapter 152 He is gone

An Jianwen said nothing and just looked at him intently.

After being surprised, the second elder sighed, "Jianwen, you are still young, don't get involved in matters between adults..."

An Jianwen interrupted him, his eyes firm, "Grandpa, I'm an adult now, not a child anymore. I have the right to know."

He has a gentle temperament, but when he gets stubborn, even the second elder can't do anything about him.

After a moment of silence, he brought up the past again, his tone somewhat relieved. "Actually, your father was arrested because he had colluded with outsiders to do many shameful things behind the scenes. Another reason was that he coveted the position of head of the family and had someone poison the young master. If he hadn't been discovered in time, the young master would probably have died."

The second elder paused, looked up at An Jianwen, and said, "Jianwen, the head of the family has not wronged us. It is your father who has made too many mistakes."

"I know." An Jianwen lowered his eyebrows, making it difficult to see his expression. "Grandpa, I just want to know where he is."

Back to the question, the Second Elder was afraid he would get stuck in a rut like Xie Xin, so he asked tentatively, "So what if you know where he is? Are you still planning on going to look for him?"

An Jianwen fell silent. Xie Xin's words, "I really can't live without him," lingered in his ears like a devilish sound, and he tightened his lips.

"Jianwen, listen to grandpa's advice. Don't sacrifice your future for someone who is not worth it."

He only has this one grandson, and he has worked hard to raise him into a talented person. The second elder doesn't want to see him go astray due to confusion.

An Jianwen said, "Grandpa, don't worry, I won't look for him. I just want to know where he is."

Seeing that he still refused to give up, the Second Elder was afraid that he would secretly investigate and cause trouble, so he had to harden his heart and tell the truth, "He is gone."

An Jianwen suddenly raised his head and looked at him in surprise, his face full of disbelief.

"The Patriarch doesn't have..."

"It has nothing to do with the Patriarch," the Second Elder said. "The Patriarch simply exiled him to the mines. He was used to the comforts and couldn't stand the hardship, so he tried to escape. However, he was discovered and accidentally fell off the mountain."

The sudden bad news left An Jianwen at a loss, and he stood there in a daze.

Even though that man made many mistakes, he was still his father after all. He hated him and resented him, but he never thought of letting him die. Even if he had to suffer, at least he was still alive.

After a long while, An Jianwen recovered and said in an unusually hoarse voice, "When did it happen?"

At this point, the Second Elder no longer hid the truth from him and said, "At the end of last year."

An Jianwen felt mixed emotions. He calmed down and said, "Don't tell my mother about this."

The second elder nodded.

An Jianwen lowered his head, his long eyelashes casting a shadow under his eyelids, and his brows were shrouded in a bit of gloom. "Grandpa, I'm tired and want to rest for a while."

The second elder said, "Go and rest. I'll be watching over your mother."

An Jianwen stood up and walked back to the inner room. His feet felt like they were filled with lead, and every step seemed heavy.

That night, the manor was silent.

After dinner, An Zhenxiong had a video conference and left first, leaving An Ci and Eric alone in the living room.

Eric sat with his legs crossed, looking very awkward. "What's wrong with An Jianwen? Why did he insist you were the one who pushed her down the stairs?"

An Ci said, "I guess he's worried about Brother Wen, so his mood is a little unstable."

"Who is so emotionally unstable like her? She is clearly spreading rumors and slandering people." Eric was so angry that if you didn't know better you would think he was the one being slandered.

"Is An Jianwen going to believe what his mother said?"

An Ci shook his head, "No."

Eric scoffed. "If you ask me, you should just stay away from An Jianwen. His mother dared to spread rumors like that. Who knows what kind of trouble he'll cause later."

An Ci raised an eyebrow, skipped the topic, and asked him, "How is the club?"

"Okay, let's go according to our plan." Eric said, "Apu and Nick have already moved into the club. Leir will go back home and we'll go over to train together tomorrow."

Before he finished speaking, a vigorous voice came from outside the door.

A typical case of the sound arriving before the person.

"Where are the people? Is there anyone here to greet me?"

Recognizing Anyang's voice, Eric raised his thick eyebrows, looked at An Ci and asked, "Why is he here?"

An Ci raised the corner of his lips and said, "Please treat us to something to eat."

As soon as she finished speaking, Anyang wandered into the living room, his hands full of things.

"I say, can you two stop sitting there like old men and help get things?" Anyang complained as he walked over.

"Did you buy skewers?" Eric's eyes lit up, he sat up straight, reached out to take the bag from his hand and put it on the table.

Anyang snorted and laughed, "Dog nose."

Seeing that he also bought beer, Eric's smile became even more satisfied. He decided to be magnanimous and not bother with him.

Anyang put the cake on the table, glanced at Anci, and said with a smile, "Let me make it clear first, you won't get any beer."

An Ci snorted, "Who cares?" Then she reached out and took a skewer of grilled beef.

As soon as Anyang sat down, he took the beer, knocked it on the table, and the bottle cap opened with a "pop".

The same thing happened to Eric on the side.

The two men clinked their bottles together, then tilted their heads back and took a sip, their movements almost synchronized.

"How come you have time to come here tonight?" Eric asked casually, shaking the bottle of wine.

Anyang leaned back, folding his long legs casually, with a helpless look on his face, "Let's get together with you guys one more time before we go."

"Leave?" Eric looked at him doubtfully, "Where to?"

"Going to study in Country F." Anyang placed the bottle of wine on his lap, a look of deep resentment on his face. "My dad arranged it. I have to go to the branch office for internship during the holidays."
