For three consecutive days, Song Xiunian and An Lan went out early and came back late as usual, and An Ci could only see them at night.
But An Ci has gotten used to it. After the exams, she has no classes for the time being, so she has been going to the club these days.
That day, An Ci went downstairs to have breakfast. Seeing An Lan still there, she paused rubbing her eyes.
"Mom, you didn't go out today?"
"Your dad has invited some friends to get together, so I won't go." An Lan took a sip of coffee, smiling, "Are you free today?"
"Yes." An Ci walked over, pulled out a chair and sat down opposite her.
"What's wrong?"
An Lan said, "Then go shopping with me."
Aunt Hong poured a glass of milk and placed it in front of her. An Ci reached out to take it and agreed without thinking, "Okay."
An Lan curled her lips, and when she accidentally saw her watch, she suddenly thought of something and asked tentatively, "Zizi, when your father and I came here, did you think Xiao Mo was here?"
No one knows a daughter better than her mother. She guessed An Ci's thoughts at once.
An Ci lowered his eyes and ate pumpkin pie pretending to be calm. "No."
An Lan stared at her, dropped the topic and didn't ask any further questions.
After breakfast, An Ci went upstairs to change clothes.
During this time, An Lan looked at Aunt Hong and asked quietly, "Has Zizi mentioned Xiao Mo recently?"
Aunt Hong shook her head. "That's not the case, but..."
"But what?" An Lan asked.
"It has been raining a while ago, and Xiao Ci often stood in front of the window in a daze. Once I asked her what she was looking at, and she said she was looking at thunder." Aunt Hong said.
An Lan was confused by what she heard. What was so interesting about thunder?
Before she could ask, brisk footsteps were heard on the stairwell, and two pairs of eyes looked over there one after another.
An Ci walked downstairs in casual clothes. His unkempt hair covered the corners of his eyes, making his facial features look softer and younger.
She approached, pulling her hat on, "Let's go."
Looking at her thin coat, An Lan frowned slightly, "You're only wearing this much. It's windy outside."
An Ci casually hooked his arm around hers, raised the corner of his mouth, and said, "It's not cold, let's go. My dad will be back soon, and we won't be able to go out for a walk."
An Lan followed her out and asked in confusion, "Why?"
"Because my dad won't accuse me of stealing his wife." An Ci said with a smile.
Aunt Hong suppressed her laughter. An Lan blushed slightly and raised her hand to flick An Ci's forehead. "You."
At the door, Dali was already standing by the car waiting.
Dali looked at An Lan with a respectful expression, "Second Miss."
An Lan smiled and nodded, bent down and got into the car, and An Ci followed slowly behind.
After all three of them got in the car, Dali walked around to the other side, sat in the driver's seat, started the car and left.
An Lan spent most of her time in Continent M working, and it had been a long time since she went shopping like this.
"Baby, what do you think of this bracelet?"
An Lan's voice came to his ears. An Ci turned his head nonchalantly and glanced at the bracelet in her hand. "It's pretty. Who is it for?"
"This is for your aunt." An Lan handed it to the salesgirl and said, "Wrap this up."
Then she turned her head and looked back at An Ci, her voice gentle, "It's New Year's Eve, so I brought some gifts for everyone. Can you help me see which one is suitable for your grandma?"
An Ci lowered his head and looked through the glass at the jade ornaments of various styles on the counter. They had beautiful colors and exquisite workmanship.
They all look pretty good, but if I tell her about the old lady...
An Ci's eyes were determined, "This one."
An Lan followed her gaze, and almost at the same time, the salesgirl's sweet voice rang in her ears, "Young Master, you have a very good eye. This imperial green jadeite necklace is our store's treasure. However, I'm sorry, it has already been reserved."
