"I wanted to pick more herbs, but I accidentally slipped and walked into the miasma forest," said the old man.
An Ci reminded him, "The miasma over there is poisonous. You'd better be careful and don't go there in the future."
If she hadn't happened to be here today, he would really have died.
The old man nodded.
"By the way, young man, your medicine is ready. I'll get it for you." The old lady suddenly remembered something and walked quickly to the kitchen.
The old man was startled for a moment before he noticed that Shen Mo and An Ci were both wet, and An Ci's clothes were stained with blood.
"Young man, are you hurt?"
An Ci nodded, his eyes frank, and repeated what he had said to the old lady.
"Grandpa, don't worry, we won't take these herbs for nothing..."
The old man waved his hand, interrupting her. "They are just some herbs. If you need them, take them. No charge."
"That's right, don't be polite with us." The old lady came over and handed the bowl to An Ci, "Drink slowly, I'll go find some clothes for you two."
An Ci took the bowl and thanked him, "Grandma, no need to trouble you..."
"It's okay. You'll catch a cold if you wear wet clothes in this weather." The old lady said as she walked back to the main house.
Although An Ci knew medicine, she hated taking medicine. She closed her eyes and drank the medicine without stopping.
His expression was more painful than being shot.
Shen Mo raised his lips, took the empty bowl from her hand, and smiled softly, "Why are you still the same as when you were little?"
An Ci pursed his lips and said, "It's so bitter."
The old lady came over holding two sets of clothes with a kind smile, "These two sets of clothes were worn by my son before, but they have been washed. If you don't mind, you can change into them first."
An Ci said, "Of course not, thank you grandma."
Shen Mo reached out to take the clothes. The old lady pointed to the side room they had just been to and said, "You can stay in that room. After changing your clothes, take a rest and get up to eat later."
An Ci nodded, and the two returned to the side room. An Ci picked up a set of smaller clothes and just took off his coat when he suddenly remembered that there was someone next to him.
She paused grabbing the hem of her clothes and turned to look at Shen Mo, "Turn around first."
Shen Mo raised his eyebrows, a playful smile on his lips, "Didn't they say that they are all men, there is nothing to be afraid of?"
An Ci's mouth twitched, and he grabbed his coat and threw it at him.
Shen Mo caught the coat easily. Fearing that she would pull at the wound, he stopped teasing her and turned his back to her, "Change it."
An Ci breathed a sigh of relief. The injury on her back shoulder slowed her down in changing clothes.
As she put on her clothes, she asked, "Shen Mo, how did you know?"
Shen Mo, "Know what?"
"Don't pretend." An Ci snorted, "I'm a woman dressed as a man."
Shen Mo did not hide it from her, "The doctor took your pulse that night when the fire broke out."
“…”
An Ci felt tears welling up in his heart.
Damn it, alcohol is really harmful to people.
"Which doctor?"
It's not the right time to reveal her secret of being a man.
Shen Mo said, "Don't worry, we are one family, he will keep it a secret."
Hearing him say this, An Ci immediately breathed a sigh of relief and quickened the pace of changing clothes.
"Okay, change now."
Shen Mo turned around and looked at her. She was very thin, and the light blue cotton and linen clothes were loose on her. The village was close to the foot of the mountain and the temperature was low. The old lady also gave her two long thick cotton coats. She wore a white one with the front buttoned to the top.
"Look at what I'm doing. Hurry and change." An Ci picked up the clothes she had changed out of, "I'll go wash the clothes first."
Shen Mo stopped her and said, "Give it to me, I'll wash it together later."
"No, I can wash it myself."
"Be obedient. You have an injury on the back of your shoulder, so you can't use force with your hands." Shen Mo said as he snatched the clothes away.
An Ci quickly grabbed the clothes and said, "I can wash them myself."
As the two men were pulling each other, clothes fell to the ground and a black vest caught Shen Mo's sight.
An Ci finally understood what a large-scale social death scene was. She hurried to pick it up, but was preempted by a slender jade-like hand.
"What's this?"
Shen Mo looked at the black vest in his hand. The material and fabric were very special. The style was a bit like a corset and a bit like a vest.
Seeing him studying seriously, An Ci's ears turned red. She quickly picked up her clothes and then snatched back the black vest, "Hurry and change your clothes."
After saying that, he ran out of the room holding his clothes.
Shen Mo looked at her fleeing back, with the corners of his lips slightly raised.
Arriving in the yard, An Ci saw that only the old lady was there, and asked casually, "Grandma, where is Grandpa?"
The old lady looked out of the kitchen window and said, "A child from a nearby family fell and was injured. Please ask him to go over and take a look."
An Ci said "oh" and asked, "Grandma, where can I do the laundry?"
The old lady said, "There's a well behind the side room where you live. The wash basin and washing powder are there. Feel free to use them."
"good."
An Ci carried the clothes around to the back of the side room, threw them into a large wooden basin, and then picked up the bucket to fetch water.
"Don't move."
A low, magnetic voice came over. An Ci turned his head and saw Shen Mo coming over with his changed clothes.
The two of them wore the same style of clothes, the only difference was the color. However, he was born with good looks, and even a simple coarse linen shirt on him could not hide his innate temperament.
Shen Mo threw his clothes into the big wooden basin, walked over and took the wooden bucket from her hand, "Go sit over there, I'll do it."
He pulled the rope, lowered the wooden bucket into the well, easily drew up a bucket of water, and then poured the water into a large wooden basin.
