Chapter 27 I think you are fine

Fugui was staring at the chicks in the fence, his saliva almost dripping.

An Ci didn't know whether to laugh or cry, and shouted, "Fugui, come here and eat some roasted sweet potatoes."

However, Fugui, whose mind and eyes were filled with only the chicks, refused to heed the call and had no intention of moving.

Well, forget it if you don’t want to eat it.

An Ci withdrew his gaze and glanced at An Jianwen inconspicuously. Seeing that his mood had improved slightly, he breathed a sigh of relief.

After eating the roasted sweet potatoes, the two played on the swings for a while and fed the chicks and geese. They didn't leave the vegetable garden and go back until it was almost dark.

When An Jianwen returned to the room and saw someone sitting on the sofa waiting for him, he was slightly startled.

"Mom, why are you here?"

In just a few days, Xie Xin lost a lot of weight, and even the makeup on her face couldn't hide her haggard look.

Seeing her son covered in dirt, she thought he had been bullied. Her expression suddenly became nervous, "Xiao Wen, what's wrong with you? Did someone bully you?"

An Jianwen looked down at his clothes, realizing his mother had misunderstood him. He quickly explained, "No one was bullying me. I was just playing with Xiao Ci in her vegetable garden."

Small words?

Xie Xin was stunned for a moment, "You mean the young master?"

An Jianwen nodded.

Xie Xin walked over and touched his head. "Xiao Wen, you are different from the young master. He has the entire An family behind him as his backing, but you don't. Now that your father is in trouble, you must strive to be better and focus on your studies."

An Jianwen lowered his head and said nothing.

"You are my only son. All my hopes are pinned on you. You can't be like your father." Xie Xin opened her arms and hugged him, muttering to herself, "You must make me proud."

An Jianwen let her hug him, his lowered black eyes tinged with melancholy, as if he had just climbed out of the abyss and was knocked back down.

The days passed peacefully, and the news of An Rui's arrest gradually died down. At the same time, this tactic of killing the chicken to scare the monkeys made those who were secretly coveting the position of the head of the family temporarily give up their thoughts.

An Jianwen also went back to class, studying from morning to night as before. An Ci looked for him several times, wanting him to go out and play, but he refused with a sentence "I have to do homework".

In desperation, An Ci had to find some fun for himself and took Fugui to tour the entire manor, even knowing exactly where the dog hole was.

That day, when she was about to take Fugui out to play, Zuo Fei suddenly appeared at the door.

An Ci had a bad feeling.

"Uncle Zuo Fei, why are you here?" she asked tentatively with a smile.

Zuo Fei looked down at her, and said in a gentle tone, "The head of the family asks the young master to go to the study."

Go to the study?

An Ci felt that something bad was going to happen. She took a step back silently and asked, "Why are you going to the study?"
