Chapter 64: A Child Marriage

Shen Mo was stunned and looked down at the pill lying in her palm, "What is this?"

"It's for reducing fever." An Ci urged, "Open your mouth quickly."

Upon hearing this, Shen Mo took the pill from her hand. Seeing him eat it, An Ci quickly picked up the cup and fed him water.

After drinking several mouthfuls, Shen Mo felt that the bitter taste of the medicine in his mouth was slightly diluted.

"Thanks."

An Ci smiled up at him, "As I should."

She wants to repay a favor.

Seeing her smile, Shen Mo raised the corner of his mouth and said, "Don't tell Uncle Song and the others."

An Ci knew he was afraid of bothering others, so he said as he packed up his medicine box, "Then you have to get your fever down quickly."

She stood up and turned to walk towards the bathroom. Shen Mo looked at her in confusion, "Where are you going?"

An Ci didn't answer. After a while, she came out of the bathroom with a towel in her hand.

Shen Mo felt weak all over. He leaned against the headboard, glanced at the towel in her hand, and understood what she meant.

In the past, when he had a fever, his mother would apply a towel to his forehead.

"Don't bother, I'll be fine after taking medicine," he said.

An Ci walked to the bedside, freed one hand and patted the bed, "It's not a big deal, just lie down quickly."

Shen Mo looked at her fingers that were frozen red by the cold water and shook his head, "Go back to sleep, I'm fine."

He is stubborn, and An Ci is even more stubborn than him.

She frowned and said, "If you don't listen to me, I will go tell my parents that you have a fever."

Shen Mo had no choice but to listen to her and lie down. An Ci smiled with satisfaction, put a cold towel on his forehead, and covered him with the quilt.

Just then, there was a deafening sound of thunder outside the window.

An Ci noticed that Shen Mo's expression changed slightly and his whole body stiffened, as if he was in some kind of panic.

Could it be that he is afraid of thunder?

She glanced towards the window, and the boy's hoarse voice suddenly rang out, "Cub."

"Um?"

"Would you like to sleep here?"

In the dim light, the young man looked at her eagerly. His face was pale, but his eyes were dark and bright, blazing and intimidating, giving him a somewhat monkish appearance.

An Ci couldn't say anything to refuse, so he said softly, "Okay."

Who made her repay the favor?

She went around to the other side and climbed onto the bed. Her small body curled up on the edge of the bed. She looked at Shen Mo with her peach blossom eyes and urged him in a low voice, "Go to sleep quickly."

Shen Mo frowned, "Come here."

Thinking of his terrible sleeping posture, An Ci shook his head and said, "I will touch your wound."

"No, it's not my right hand that's injured." Shen Mo insisted that she come over. An Ci had no choice but to move closer to him so that he could fall asleep quickly.

"Is this all right?"

"Yeah." Shen Mo held her hand. There was constant thunder outside the window, but he felt more at ease in his heart than ever before.

The antipyretic medicine gradually took effect, Shen Mo's eyelids began to droop, and he fell asleep in a short while.

Afraid that Shen Mo's fever would not subside, An Ci didn't dare to sleep. She rubbed her eyes and stared at the ceiling in a daze.

Fortunately, after more than an hour, the temperature of Shen Mo's forehead dropped. An Ci breathed a sigh of relief and fell asleep unable to resist the strong sleepiness.

The next day.

Shi Che came here early in the morning.

An Lan opened the door for him and looked at him with a bit of surprise.

"The sun is rising from the west. Why are you up so early?"

Shi Che folded his umbrella and placed it in the corner, then walked into the house. "I'm coming to see Xiao Mo."

"Xiao Mo hasn't woken up yet." An Lan closed the door, turned around and asked Aunt Hong to make more breakfast.

"Not awake yet?" Shi Che's voice broke, as if someone was strangling him.

Seeing him startled, An Lan was full of questions, "What's wrong?"

It's only 7:30 now. Isn't it normal that you haven't woken up yet?

Shi Che scratched his head and explained, "Xiao Mo usually doesn't sleep well on rainy days, especially when there's thunder."

He discovered this by chance, and he guessed it was related to his parents' accident.

An Lan was slightly startled, "Why didn't you say so earlier?"

"Xiao Lan, why isn't Zaizai in the room?" Song Xiunian came downstairs dressed neatly. The sapphire cufflinks near his wrist bone reflected a charming luster under the light.

It was common knowledge that An Ci was a sleepover. When An Lan heard that she was not in the room, she looked puzzled and asked, "Is she in the bathroom?"

"No." Song Xiunian said.

"How could that be?" An Lan muttered as she went upstairs.

Shi Che followed, "I'm going to go see Xiao Mo."

Walking into An Ci's room, An Lan looked at the empty bed, reached out and touched the sheets, which were cold.

She turned around and walked out, wondering, "Where did this child go?"

"Maybe he went to his parents' place?" Song Xiunian guessed.

An Lan's tone was uncertain. "No way, it's raining so hard outside. Forget it, I'll call Mom and ask."

After he finished speaking, Shi Che walked out from the opposite room with a strange look on his face. "No need to ask, Xiao Ci is in there."

An Lan and Song Xiunian were stunned, then walked into the room one after another.

Shi Che followed behind them.

The curtains were opaque, and the light in the room was a little dim, but it did not hinder their vision.

I saw the two children lying on their sides, foreheads touching, sleeping soundly.

He didn't even notice them entering the room.

An Lan held her forehead with her hand and was stunned when she saw the medicine box on the ground out of the corner of her eye.

Isn’t the medicine box downstairs?

Why are you here?

An Lan squatted down, reached out to open the medicine box, and found that the antipyretic medicine inside had been touched.

She suddenly thought of something, looked at Shi Che, and lowered her voice and said, "Shi Che, touch Xiao Mo's forehead to see if he has a fever."

Hearing this, Shi Che carefully reached out and touched Shen Mo's forehead, then shook his head at An Lan.

"Xiunian, take care of the cub." An Lan said again.

Song Xiunian reached out and touched his child's forehead, then shook his head, "It's okay."

"Don't wake them up, let's talk outside." Shi Che whispered.

The three of them left the room quietly, with Shi Che walking last and closing the door.

After going downstairs, Shi Che stopped holding his tongue and jokingly said, "If your baby is a girl, I will definitely arrange a marriage for Xiao Mo and you."

He had never seen Xiao Mo so clingy to anyone.

An Lan's eyes paused slightly, and Song Xiu smiled, "You wish for it. If my baby is a little cotton-padded jacket, I won't be willing to give it up."

"That's not the case. My Xiao Mo is impeccable in both appearance and IQ." Shi Che crossed his legs and smiled nonchalantly.

"Let's have breakfast first." An Lan changed the subject, "Xiunian, don't you have a meeting later? It's getting late."

It was almost nine o'clock and the rain gradually subsided.

Shen Mo woke up slowly, and as soon as he opened his eyes he saw An Ci's delicate sleeping face.

The heater was on in the room, and her fair little face was flushed red by the heat, which was very cute.

Shen Mo couldn't help but poke her face with his finger. Realizing that someone was messing with her face, An Ci squirmed and met Shen Mo's gaze with sleepy eyes.

Then she reached out and touched his forehead, muttering, "Fortunately, the fever is gone."
