Chapter 25 As Long as He Likes It
During the 55 minutes that Gong Huai rushed to Ning Zhiran's house, Ning Zhiran first took a hot bath. After coming out, she was so hungry that she could hardly bear it.
I've been so busy lately that I haven't been to the supermarket at all. There's only half a carrot left in the fridge. Ning Zhiran peels back the plastic wrap from the carrot's end, cuts it into strips, dips it in white sauce, and eats the whole thing.
...I'm still very hungry.
But in order to save money on meals, I will return the card pack to Gong Gou later and go to bed quickly.
He lay on the bed and browsed his phone. As he did so, he began to wonder if he had just cursed Gong Gou too much with G.
Is Gong Gou really as annoying as he says?
Perhaps, his mood was affected by his parents tonight, and he had no place to vent his unhappiness, so he scolded Gong Gou.
Well... maybe.
Before Ning Zhiran could figure it out, WeChat rang twice.
Gong Gou: I’m here.
Gong Gou: Downstairs from you.
Ning Zhiran walked to the window and looked down. Oh, here comes the pretender in a G-Class. Damn it, how many luxury cars does this guy have?! Palace dogs are just annoying! So annoying!
He felt envious in his heart, put on a loose sweatshirt over his T-shirt, and went downstairs with the keys to Gong Huai's Rolls-Royce.
What surprised Ning Zhiran was that Gong Huai was not waiting for him in the car.
Gong Huai stood under the street light, his hands in his pockets, waiting quietly at the door of his house.
Ning Zhiran walked over and said, "Why don't you wait in the car? It's so cold at night."
Gong Huai glanced at him and said, "It will be easier for you to see me this way."
Perhaps because they went to the amusement park together, the two of them became closer than before. Ning Zhiran spoke faster than his brain and couldn't help but complain:
"What's there to be seen? Just look at your modified G-Class. It's so conspicuous wherever you go. I was upstairs and saw it right away."
Oops. No.
I accidentally said what I was thinking.
Ning Zhiran laughed awkwardly and said, "I mean, I was worried that you would get frozen."
"No, I'm in good health."
Although his tone was cold, Ning Zhiran could feel the corners of Gong Huai's mouth curling up. But it was okay, the dead pretender wasn't angry, which was good.
"Mr. Gong Huai, your clothes are still in the car. I didn't get them. Let's go get them from the car now."
Gong Huai nodded.
The two walked side by side towards the Rolls-Royce. Ning Zhiran walked around to the back of the car, opened the back seat, took out the Chanel jacket, and handed it to Gong Huai.
"Look and see if the card holder is inside."
Gong Huai took the clothes and rummaged through his pockets pretentiously, not forgetting to glance down at Ning Zhiran: "Oh, here it is."
"Don't keep losing things in the future," Ning Zhiran said. "Look at you, you have to drive such a long distance in the middle of the night."
"Okay, I'll pay attention."
"That's nothing. I'm going home. You should get some rest early."
"Finn, actually..."
Ning Zhiran stopped and turned around: "What's wrong?"
Gong Huai: "I haven't eaten since I came back from the amusement park."
Ning Zhiran was puzzled: "Then go eat.
Gong Huai: “…”
Gong Huai: "If you haven't eaten, we can go eat something together. It doesn't feel good to eat alone."
Ning Zhiran was indeed still a little hungry.
But Gong Huai's words made him feel a little uncomfortable. What did it mean to feel bad eating alone? He had been eating alone for so many years, and nothing had happened to him.
Do I have to have a late-night snack with a wealthy second-generation kid just to make him feel less miserable about being alone? Why?
Ning Zhiran felt it was unfair.
"I'm not going. It's too late." Ning Zhiran walked towards the door of the building without looking back.
After taking only two steps, Ning Zhiran suddenly realized that there had been no movement behind him and Gong Gou had not spoken again.
Ning Zhiran subconsciously stopped and looked back.
The street lights were dim, and Gong Huai stood under the light, staring at him.
Huh? There's clearly nothing sharp in Gong Huai's eyes. But for some reason...
I actually felt a little lost and a little aggrieved.
Ning Zhiran stood there, suddenly not knowing what to do. He opened his mouth and said, "Ah, Gong Huai, do you have anything else to say?"
Gong Huai: "I can't find anyone to eat with me at this time."
Ning Zhiran: "Where's your girlfriend?"
Gong Huai: “…”
Gong Huai: "We broke up."
Ning Zhiran was overjoyed. No wonder this guy looked so aggrieved. It turned out there was a reason for it.
He walked around and back, feeling smug all of a sudden. "Why, are you feeling bad about the breakup and want to find someone to chat with you?"
Gong Huai said slowly: "Well, if you can accompany me, I will treat you to this meal."
Ning Zhiran rolled his eyes. He really wanted to hear some gossip, gloat over the misfortune, and share Gong Gou's miserable state with G. But it was a little late now.
He hadn't decided whether to agree or not when, as luck would have it, a drizzle began to fall from the sky.
Ning Zhiran vaguely remembered that people always told him that his droopy eyes were beautiful, like a puppy's.
But at this moment, Gong Huai stood in the rain, raindrops condensing into dots on his eyelashes, sinking into his eyes one by one. His eyes were filled with uncontrollable disappointment and a straightforward and almost clumsy waiting. Ning Zhiran frowned. If you want to say that Gong Gou looks like a dog, then this look is the real one. He is a real dog.
Yes, just like a homeless wolfhound waiting to be picked up. As long as he says "Come on, I'll go eat with you", the big tail hanging behind his back will start wagging quickly.
...Is this person really that serious? It's just a breakup.
Ning Zhiran met that look, and his heart felt like it was being hit by a falling raindrop. He even had the illusion that Gong Gou seemed quite lonely tonight.
He was at a loss for words.
I always feel that if he rejects Gong Gou now, he will be too much and not a human being.
Although it was annoying, Ning Zhiran still wanted to be a human being.
Ning Zhiran was at a loss, so she walked forward and patted Gong Huai's right shoulder twice.
"Okay, you're sad after breaking up, right? I'll be with you."
Gong Huai's face turned ugly for a moment.
Ning Zhiran: "It's already past one in the evening, where else is open?"
Gong Huai took out the car's built-in umbrella from the door of the Rolls-Royce, held it up for Ning Zhiran, and thought about it seriously.
Half an hour later, they appeared in front of a Korean fried chicken restaurant downtown.
This is a great place for a late-night snack in W City. The moment the door opens, the aroma of hot oil and sweet chili sauce hits you. Inside, it's packed with people, mostly Koreans, and tables are overflowing with fried chicken, kimchi, and glasses of soju.
As soon as Gong Huai sat down, amid the commotion, he pushed the menu to Ning Zhiran: "You order first."
First time is stranger, second time is familiar. This was their second time eating together, and Ning Zhiran didn't hesitate. He didn't care about the prices of the dishes on the menu and just started ordering everything he wanted to eat.
After Gong Huai finished a few more dishes, Ning Zhiran couldn't hold back her curiosity and rested her hand on her chin: "What's wrong? Why did you break up so suddenly? I remember you liked your partner very much."
Gong Huai: "Maybe, we are not together, everything is just my wishful thinking."
"Huh? That works too? No, I don't see why. Is this the new trend in your circle? Using your mind to fall in love?"
Gong Huai's eyes darkened: "I don't have any circle."
Tsk tsk tsk, he's pretending again. But the pretender is heartbroken today, so let's be nice to him.
Ning Zhiran said, "Okay, I get it. You don't have any social circles. You're a good man, not a scumbag at all. Keep going. I'm rooting for you. I hope you can get over the shadow of heartbreak and embrace true love soon."
Gong Huai: "Thank you, but Finn, it sounds weird that you always call yourself brother."
Strange?
What's it to you? I want to use this word to overwhelm your rich arrogance!
Brother, brother, brother, brother, brother!
Ning Zhiran: "You just said that you and your partner 'might not be together'. What do you mean by that?"
Gong Huai looked directly at Ning Zhiran and began to talk nonsense mixed with his true feelings: "What I mean is, it hasn't reached that point yet. I already regarded him as a partner, but in the end, he has never appreciated it. I think this can also be regarded as a kind of breakup."
Ning Zhiran suddenly realized something, and unexpectedly matched his brain waves: "No wonder you didn't even call your partner when we went to the amusement park. It seems you are just being wishful thinking here."
"Well, the degree of wishful thinking is more serious than I thought."
Ning Zhiran laughed heartily: "Mr. Gong Huai, I didn't realize you were such a love-brained person."
Being accused of being "love-brained" by the real owner, Gong Huai's face must not be very good. But at least he managed to trick the person into coming to dinner. Thinking of this, Gong Huai's face looked a little better.
"Let him do as he pleases, as long as he likes it." Gong Huai said.
Plates of fried chicken with different flavors were served one after another, with spicy, soy sauce, honey mustard and a fragrant aroma.
A woman wearing an apron who looked like the store manager came over, holding two drinks in her hands, and spoke in Korean English:
"This is our new special blend of soju. I'm giving it to you to try and see how it tastes. Please give us your feedback after you try it. It's delicious."
Ning Zhiran subconsciously said in English: "We drove here——"
Gong Huai didn't wait for him to finish: "Just put it here."
Ning Zhiran: "You want to drink?"
Gong Huai: "Since it's a gift, it would be a shame not to try it."
Wow, this idiot rich second generation is quite good at living.
Ning Zhiran stared at the two glasses of wine. They were pink and bubbling, with a strong smell of liquor. It was obvious that the alcohol content was high.
He frowned: "We've both been drinking. Who's going to drive back home?"
Gong Huai: "Take a taxi."
Oh.
Ning Zhiran: "What about your car?"
Gong Huai: "Just leave it here. I'll come get it tomorrow."
Haha. Haha.
Ning Zhiran: "I don't want to drink. I don't want to take a taxi and waste money."
Gong Huai: "I'll take a taxi to take you home first, and then I'll go back. I won't let you waste a penny."
Ning Zhiran: "I said during the day that I always felt that you were taking care of me like a child. Remember, I am older than you. I am your older brother and I don't need your care."
Gong Huai twitched his lips unhappily: "I asked you to come out for dinner. I have an obligation to be responsible for you. This has nothing to do with taking care of you. You also know that I don't like to do things..."
Ning Zhiran couldn't stand it anymore: "Alright, alright, drink."
Okay, you have money, right? You must establish a personal image, right? Drink, I will drink you to death, and then we’ll see how you can still pretend.
Ning Zhiran, out of revenge, waved to the waiter and said, "Hello, these two glasses are not enough. We would like to order another bottle of soju."
After saying that, he stared at Gong Huai's surprised face, his mouth almost grinning to the sky.
Just drink it.
Who's afraid of who? A lovelorn little puppy two years younger than me.
Ning Zhiran picked up the wine, motioned Gong Huai to toast, and said viciously: "Then I wish you to fall in love with the person you like as soon as possible, and stop having unrequited love."
Gong Huai forced himself to suppress his fear of Ning Zhiran being drunk last time and continued calmly: "I hope so. As long as he cooperates."
Ning Zhiran held a large beer cup and drank the flavored soju inside in big gulps.
The wine was sweet, a strawberry marshmallow flavor, but soju was still soju, and the aftertaste was burning. The hint of alcohol couldn't be hidden, burning down my throat.
Ning Zhiran thought that it was actually quite good that Gong Gou suddenly did this.
It was true that he needed some alcohol to numb the reality that he was not favored by his parents. Soju was strong enough to just burn away those heavy emotions.
Across the long table, Gong Huai watched Ning Zhiran gulp down the drink without saying a word.
Gong Huai thought that he had always hated drinking.
Alcohol can disrupt the nerves, take away consciousness, and make the body lose control. It is a terrible thing that can take away reason.
But if it was Ning Zhiran.
He was happy to hand over this rationality himself.
