Chapter 3 Five and a Half Minutes of Life
After the painting session, the usual movie screening began. The old professor found Kurosawa's "Black Samurai" and said it would be a good opportunity for everyone to appreciate the beauty of the movie.
The classroom curtains were drawn, and the light suddenly dimmed. A black and white image began to play on the screen.
Ning Zhiran sat next to Gong Huai, smelling the faint scent of perfume coming from time to time, feeling very uncomfortable.
At this moment, the phone vibrated.
Ning Zhiran took out his cell phone from his pocket and found that it was a message from his library friend.
Adam: What are you doing? Are you coming to the library? I saved a seat for you.
Ning Zhiran replied:
Finn: I'm in class. Let's talk about that VISA180 class after I finish class.
Adam: Damnnn, it’s the class I took with Gong Gou, right?
Ning Zhiran smiled bitterly and tilted the phone to the side:
Finn: Yeah, he's sitting next to me. His perfume is killing me.
Adam: I sympathize with you (pat on the shoulder.jpg). You are right, Gong Gou is really pretentious. What grown man would wear perfume to attend class? Did he also bring Hermes to school today?
Ning Zhiran took a quick glance.
There was indeed a black canvas Hermès Birkin lying on the ground at Gong Huai's feet.
Ning Zhiran didn't know what model it was, but it looked like an ordinary Birkin, and there was an Apple laptop inside.
He typed inwardly with contempt:
Finn: Oh! He's carrying a tattered canvas Hermès bag on his computer again. He's so showy. He should bring a crocodile leather bag to class. That would be worthy of his status as the young master of the palace.
send.
Ning Zhiran finally let out some of the resentment in her heart through these words, and she felt better.
He didn't notice at all that the gaze of the young master Gong next to him was falling on the lighted screen of his mobile phone in a very natural and even open manner.
Gong Huai: ...old-fashioned.
That's called Birkin Cargo.
He's a man, why would he use such rare leather? Besides, this is just his computer bag.
Gong Huai was speechless, but his mind was busy. He quickly realized that Ning Zhiran was in the bathroom that day, sending WeChat messages to his friends to curse him. The person who cursed him with his accomplice was most likely this Adam.
Okay, Adam, right? He remembered it too.
Gong Huai lazily folded his hands, looked at the screen in front of him playing a black and white movie, and said nothing more.
After the movie ended, the professor gave a few words of summary and let everyone go. Ning Zhiran quickly packed up his drawing paper and left faster than anyone else.
Gong Huai, on the other hand, slowly folded the notebook and put on his coat.
As he walked out of the side building, a burst of light shone on his face. Gong Huai walked to the secluded open space next to the teaching building and pressed the key in his car.
The flamboyant red Ferrari lit up its arrogant headlights.
Gong Huai has always believed that time is value, and every minute and every second must be fully utilized to create value.
Wasting time is a stupid thing, so Gong Huai doesn't like to queue, and even less like to take detours.
He didn't like parking in the school parking lot because walking to the classroom from there required going around the square, through the side building, and up an elevator, a journey that took five and a half minutes.
Gong Huai could not tolerate wasting five and a half minutes of his life on a meaningless journey.
Fortunately, starting from the first semester of his sophomore year, Gong Huai found a solution.
There is an open space next to the side building gate, covered by bushes. It is hidden enough and just big enough to park a car.
From then on, Gong Huai regarded this place as his secret parking space.
Gong Huai opened the car door and got in.
The music playing in the car automatically switched to Kendrick Lamar, which he hadn't finished listening to that morning. He leaned back in his seat, listened to the music, and lowered the window a little.
How could Ning Zhiran do that? She was sitting right next to him, yet she still scolded him with others?
This person is interesting.
That's really interesting.
He's live streaming tonight, so we have to punish him.
…
Ning Zhiran came out of the back door of the teaching building, thinking that he was in a good mood today. He would finish the paper assigned by the teacher first, then go home to start the live broadcast early, rush to stay on the popularity list for a few more hours, and look for big guys who are willing to chat with him.
As a result, as soon as he arrived at the alley behind the teaching building, he was dumbfounded.
No, where's my car?!
Ning Zhiran thought she was hallucinating. She looked around twice but couldn't find the car. There was only a ticket dropped on the ground.
The ticket clearly stated in English:
[Your vehicle has been towed to the Cedar Street impound lot. For inquiries, please call 778-XXX-XXXX.]
Ning Zhiran: ...
Only then did he realize that his little Toyota had been towed away by a government tow truck for illegal parking.
Ning Zhiran dialed the number on the ticket, listening to the voice prompt while stamping her feet in anger. After walking over 800 meters, taking the bus, and then the subway, it took a total of an hour and a half to finally reach the Traffic Enforcement Center.
At the other end of the payment window was an Indian man in uniform. He glanced at the ticket and said in his accented English:
"To pick up the car, the total payment is $160.5."
Ning Zhiran: "Young Master Duo?!"
The Indian man's English was not very standard: "The taxi fare is 100, the illegal parking fee is 40, plus today's Decun fare is 20.5, the total is $160.5. Card, or cash?"
“…swipe the card.”
Ning Zhiran gritted her teeth, took out her card, paid the money, and followed the staff to pick up the car.
As soon as he got into the car, Ning Zhiran threw himself onto the steering wheel.
Two hundred.
That's a full two hundred dollars. He hadn't even had time to save the money he received from the live broadcast yesterday, and it was gone!
Ning Zhiran was really angry.
Palace, bad.
If it weren't for Gong Huai, who was not short of money, blocking the broken LaFerrari in his secret parking space, he would never have changed his route temporarily to try to find a vacant space in the blind spot of the alley behind the teaching building.
This guy drives a Ferrari, even a LaFerrari, but why didn't he even buy an Upass? He lost two hundred dollars.
Ning Zhiran was so angry that his forehead was hot. He stepped on the accelerator and drove out, cursing all the way home.
no.
Sooner or later, he will avenge the two hundred knives.
Sooner or later I will make you doubt your life, sooner or later I will make you forget what the world is because of being scolded, sooner or later I will make you... hear my voice scolding you every day!
Boxes, boxes, boxes!
Ning Zhiran drove all the way home with an evil laugh. It was exactly 8:50 when he returned to his small apartment in the suburbs and finished writing half of his paper in anger.
He rubbed his eyes, turned on the desk lamp, and plugged in the headset.
When it first aired, all the people who came were die-hard fans, more than a hundred in total.
My Ningningningningningning is now on air!!
[Sing a song! I won’t listen for nothing, I’ll give you a little heart]
Ning Zhiran looked at the soaring number of online users in the upper right corner of the screen and gave his opening remarks.
In fact, this ID "Ningning" was given based on his real name when he registered the account.
The word "Ningning" sounds ordinary, silly, and non-aggressive.
The most dangerous ID is the safest ID. Who can find him through this ID?
Ning Zhiran felt that he was really smart.
In a luxury house in the villa area of 48th Street in W City, Gong Huai opened the live broadcast room on time, turned up the volume of his mobile phone to the maximum, and started screen recording.
"I'm a little tired today. I just went to work on something and almost missed the broadcast." Ning Zhiran's voice was bright and charming, very pleasant to listen to.
[Here I come, my voice is a little hoarse today]
What are you busy with?
[Your voice is so beautiful. Can you please talk for a while so I can hear it?]
Ning Zhiran looked at the comments and chose one to interact with: "You asked me what I was busy with, but I can tell you guys about it. My car was towed away for illegal parking. I just went to pick it up and just got home not long ago."
A comment from the same city replied:
[Was he dragged to Cedar Street?]
[I've been dragged there too! Their staff has a really thick accent, hahahahaha]
[Help, I paid $200 last month, I’m crying]
Ning Zhiran sighed as she selected background music. "Don't mention it. I was fined two hundred dollars. I was just going to school and parked my car near the school when I ran into this unexpected accident."
[Ningning is going to school, why doesn’t she park her car in the school parking lot?]
Ning Zhiran thought, if you ask this question, why not eat meat porridge?
He said, "Life's not easy, and any money saved is a blessing. The school parking lot requires an Upass, which is too expensive. I really can't bear it. How about, baby, buy me a gift?"
[So where do you usually park? Where does Ningning go to school?]
[I also want to know where my husband goes to school! Hoping to meet him by chance!]
Ning Zhiran gave a bitter laugh. "I can't tell you where I go to school. I can only say that I found a free parking space. It's quite secluded, very close to the side entrance of the school. But there's always someone...who competes with me for it. Today was one of those days. I got up super early, but I couldn't beat him, so I had to park somewhere else and my car was towed away."
Hearing this, Gong Huai paused holding the phone.
It's very close to the side gate of the school.
Hidden parking space.
I couldn't grab him.
Gong Huai's mind went through it quickly. Over the years, when he parked his car at school, he had indeed seen many times that there was a small car parked there, occupying his parking space and causing him to waste five and a half minutes.
The model is not new and the car is not big, it is an old Toyota in light silver-gray color.
No way.
Gong Huai pinched his brows, and an extremely complicated emotion rose in his heart.
Thinking about it carefully, Ning Zhiran did mention that he had taken someone else's parking space when they were scolding him in the school toilet.
All this scolding, all for a parking space? To save a few dollars in parking fees? Just for this?
While Gong Huai was speechless, Ning Zhiran was already preparing to sing.
Ning Zhiran adjusted the headset: "Someone just requested a song, so I'll play one."
"This song is called 'Somewhere Only We Know', which means a place only we know. I dedicate this song to everyone, and hope everyone can have a good dream tonight."
The background music slowly sounded.
When Ning Zhiran's voice came out, it was sweet with a slightly hoarse grainy feeling, like a perfectly brewed cold brew, astringent and refreshing.
Gong Huai didn't listen at all. He analyzed it from beginning to end, trying to figure out what he had done to offend Ning Zhiran.
Ning Zhiran was annoyed by him for two main reasons: one was that he was rich, and the other was the parking space.
Tsk, money can't solve the problem. But there is a solution to the parking space problem.
Gong Huai didn't like wasting time. He even more disliked turning a trivial matter that could have been handled into a meaningless entanglement.
Since the source of the problem is here, it's not too late to solve it first, and then fix the little rabbit teeth. That saves five and a half minutes of parking space every day, and Gong Huai doesn't want to give it up easily.
Thinking of this, Gong Huai opened the gift interface of "Yesheng".
After recharging the money, Gong Huai didn't even blink, just pointed his finger and calmly threw out three Carnivals.
The live broadcast room was filled with golden light.
[System Announcement: Distinguished user G has gifted streamer Ning Ning with 3 "Carnival" items]
Ning Zhiran's eyes widened.
It was G. His number one sister was back. His beloved number one, the one who only typed and didn't talk, was back, and she had given him three carnivals!
He was just about to say something to thank him when G's comment popped up the next second.
[G: The fine has been reimbursed to you.]
[G: Use the remaining money to buy an Upass.]
