Chapter 36 Meeting the Parents

Chapter 36 Meeting the Parents

Gong Huai could clearly feel that the cold sweat that had almost dried up today was now seeping out through every pore.

Lily wouldn't tell Little Rabbit Teeth about his coming out, right?

How much does Little Rabbit Teeth know?

Gong Huai silently moved to Ning Zhiran's side, pulled out a chair and sat down.

He silently thought to himself, Gong Huai, showing panic on his face is shameful behavior, and forced a decent smile on his face, but in fact his heart was as dead as death: "Lily, why didn't you tell me before you came?"

Lily put her chopsticks down on her bowl. "Before you went abroad, your dad only planned to buy you a penthouse apartment in W City. If I hadn't stopped him and told him that investing in a villa would have greater appreciation potential, would you have been able to live in such a large house by yourself? Why, now I want to come and see your place, but I have to make an appointment in advance?"

Gong Huai bowed his head and admitted his mistake, with a serious attitude: "Sorry, Lily."

Ning Zhiran ate spare ribs and watched the show while eating melons. He was very happy to see that someone could make the palace dog lose face.

He raised his elbow and poked Gong Huai mischievously: "Gong Huai, why didn't you tell me that you have such a young grandmother? She's so fashionable! Your grandmother and I hit it off right away."

Lily coughed and slowly corrected him, "Handsome boy, call me Lily, don't call me grandma. It makes me sound old."

Ning Zhiran chuckled: "Okay, okay, Lily."

In order to maintain his composure, Gong Huai took a deep breath and asked, "Lily, when did you come?"

Lily: "I went shopping downtown this afternoon. I happened to pass by your place when I came back, so I thought I'd come see you."

She paused. "I didn't expect to meet you in person, but I met your... uh. classmate ;)"

Gong Huai's fingertips were cold, and he forced a smile: "Oh? What did you guys talk about? You seemed to be getting along quite well."

Lily had a look on her face that said, "I know you really want to know, but I won't tell you." "We didn't talk about anything."

"I just asked Xiao Zhiran about his college life, whether he had a partner, his criteria for choosing a partner, and whether anyone was pursuing him.

"Your 'classmate' is a nice guy, quite frank."

Gong Huai: “…”

He looked at Ning Zhiran seriously: "Lily likes to joke around. She didn't say anything to you. It's just something weird."

Ning Zhiran was chewing on some spareribs and spat them onto the plate. "She's so funny. She said you're gay."

Gong Huai was holding a cup, about to take a sip of water to make himself look busy, but before he could finish listening, he sprayed a mouthful of water all over the table.

“Cough cough cough…”

Ning Zhiran slowly handed over a tissue: "What are you doing? Did you choke on the water?"

Gong Huai took the paper and wiped his mouth: "Did you really say that?"

Ning Zhiran: "She was joking. It's funny, right? I know you're not."

...You should have said it earlier. You only said half the words. Are you trying to scare someone to death?

Gong Huai responded pretentiously: "Of course. Didn't she say anything else?"

Ning Zhiran replied with clear eyes: "She told me a little about your childhood, saying that you were serious and socially upright since childhood, but sometimes your emotional intelligence was quite low and you were quite funny. She asked me to be more tolerant of you. That's all. I'm waiting for you to come back for dinner."

Gong Huai nodded.

Um?

...Low emotional intelligence?

Forget it, forget it, just don’t say anything else, the alarm is lifted.

But that's okay.

It can be considered as bringing the little rabbit tooth to meet the parents.

They are one step closer to being together officially.

Good.

Lily wiped the table clean with her manicured hand, which was studded with exaggerated large rhinestones. She turned to look at Ning Zhiran and said in a friendly tone:

"Xiao Zhiran, let me tell you, with the security situation in W City and the homeless people you ran into, I think you should just stop renting a house."

"You're a child, and you have to go to school, work, and rent an apartment. It's really too hard. How about this? Just don't move around all the time. Look, isn't this place great? You two are classmates, and Gong Huai isn't short of money, so you can just live with him."

Ning Zhiran quickly waved his hands: "No, no, no, how can that be possible? I can't afford free food, free drinks, and free housing."

Lily was even happier when she heard that: "If you really feel embarrassed, that's easy to do."

"Please help my eldest grandson when you have time. Whether he's in class or writing a paper, if he doesn't understand something, please teach him. He's not very good at expressing himself, so he really needs a friend like you."

Gong Huai originally wanted to refute.

He has excellent grades and doesn't need any tutoring. He is not the big fool that Little Rabbit Teeth says he is.

But when he turned around, he saw Lily wiping her hands and looking at him with a smile, as if she had already written her future granddaughter-in-law into the family tree. Gong Huai immediately came to his senses, put away his inappropriate aloofness, and nodded seriously:

"Although your house is in the suburbs, I'm also familiar with the housing prices in W City. In that area, the monthly rent is at least over a thousand dollars. That translates to at least twelve thousand dollars a year, and that's the minimum."

After he finished speaking, he looked at Ning Zhiran sincerely and selflessly: "Why not save this money and do something else?"

Lily was quite satisfied: "That's what I meant."

Ning Zhiran bit her chopsticks and said nothing.

This proposal sounds really tempting.

In Gong Gou’s huge mansion, the aunt prepares three meals a day and places them on the table, the bed sheets are changed, and even the toilet paper rolls are always full.

He'd been living here for the past few days, and it was such a great experience. He had everything he needed, and he hadn't spent a cent, saving a lot of money. If he really stayed here, he wouldn't only save on rent, but also on living expenses. He would only have to work to earn money for tuition, which would have reduced half of his life's stress.

I can graduate in another six months.

Half a year.

When he graduates, he can move out, work hard, get a work permit, and find a full-time job here. Even if he is alone, he can survive.

I can survive without relying on my parents.

But this is Gong Gou’s home!!!

He calls people "rich dogs" while sleeping in their beds, eating their food, and even planning to keep blaming them for a whole year? What kind of person is he? Even being shameless doesn't have to be this thick-skinned.

Ning Zhiran: "Thank you, Lily. I'll think about it."

Lily spread her hands and said, "What are you thinking about? Which agency did you use to rent the house? Maybe I know them. If you're too embarrassed to ask, I can talk to them for you."

Ning Zhiran realized belatedly that in the eyes of wealthy people of this level, renting a house in W City requires going through a real estate company.

He lowered his head and poked at his food. "When I rented a place, I wanted to find a cheap place. I didn't use an agency. I found it on Craigslist."

Lily frowned. "What is that?"

Gong Huai didn't know what Craglist was, but he knew that Xiao Tu Ya had a strong sense of self-esteem, and he didn't want Lily's words to hurt Xiao Tu Ya.

He interrupted coldly: "Lily, how can you not even know this, such a famous thing."

After saying that, Gong Huai turned around and changed the subject: "Finn, I think it's nice for you to live with me."

Ning Zhiran laughed awkwardly: "Not good."

Gong Huai: "What's wrong?"

Ning Zhiran: "What if one day we have a falling out and you kick me out? It will be so troublesome to move back and forth."

Gong Huai looked at him and said seriously, "Impossible."

It’s impossible in this life.

Lily picked up a piece of food, chewed it slowly, raised her hand, and secretly made a six sign to Gong Huai.

Ning Zhiran buried her head in her food. "I, I... well, let's eat first, and talk about this later. Lily, you're such a nice person. I felt so close to you the moment I saw you, and your voice sounded familiar to me, like someone I know."

Lily was surprised: "Oh, what a coincidence, me too."

The two of them started chatting about everything from where their hometowns were, whether they could eat spicy food, to the recent weather in W City. The topics were diverse, but they were surprisingly harmonious.

Gong Huai silently observed everyone's expressions and when he saw that Ning Zhiran's bowl was empty, he added some rice to his bowl. When Lily had finished the water in her cup, he poured her another one.

After dinner, Lily said she wanted to go out for a cigarette.

Gong Huai followed behind and walked into the yard with Lily to look at the sky.

Lily leaned against the railing and lit a cigarette, the smoke rising into the sky. "Stinky boy, when you showed me the photo of your granddaughter-in-law before, I just thought she was pretty. I didn't expect she was so beautiful."

"You're even more likable than in the photo. You're so lucky."

Gong Huai was originally nervous, but upon hearing this, his eyes lit up. He put his hands in his pockets and raised the corners of his mouth: "That's the person I'd pick if I happened to find one I liked."

Lily snorted, "You're as shameless as your father was when he was a kid."

Gong Huai had a smile on his lips, and pride was hidden in his heart.

Lily added, "Then listen carefully. If you've chosen someone, don't just be enthusiastic and then shut the door on them."

Gong Huai: "I will treat him well for the rest of my life."

Lily laughed while puffing out smoke, and Gong Huai stood beside her and smoked with his grandmother for a while.

Not long after, Lily's phone rang. It was the local Chinese food delivery platform calling to say that the milk tea she ordered had arrived.

The phone was on speaker, and Gong Huai could hear it even though he was standing next to him. He asked in confusion, "Milk tea? Why would you drink something so unhealthy?"

Lily: "Why do you care so much, you little brat? Hurry up and get me the takeaway."

Gong Huai responded and pushed the door open to go back inside. Ning Zhiran was sitting on the sofa looking at her phone. Seeing Gong Gou coming, she said indifferently:

"I just heard someone ring the doorbell. Is someone coming again?"

Gong Huai: "No, it's the takeaway that Lily ordered."

Ning Zhiran was inwardly tsk- ...

He put down his phone with envy and stood up: "Then I'll go get it."

Gong Huai: "No, I'll go--"

"Why are you being so polite to me?" Ning Zhiran walked towards the door without looking back, "I'm just going out to get some fresh air."

Gong Huai wanted to stop him but it was too late, so he had to push the door and go back to the yard.

Lily only had one last puff of her cigarette left. She slowly finished it and exhaled in a circle: "Where's my milk tea?"

Gong Huai: "Ning Zhiran went to get it."

Lily smacked her lips and laughed, "Oh, so you're ordering your future boyfriend around now?"

Gong Huai's mouth twitched: "How could it be? I can't bear to do that."

Lily crushed the cigarette into the ashtray, then suddenly seemed to remember something. She turned around and asked him, "Oh, by the way, have you heard of a platform called Night Sound?"

Gong Huai: "Oh? You're using it too?"

Lily: "Several young boys I've dated have mentioned this to me. They say being a chat companion on this platform is very profitable."

Gong Huai said proudly, "That was a joint investment between me and a few friends. I hold 3.2% of the shares."

Lily's expression immediately turned very ugly.

She slapped Gong Huai on the shoulder and said, "Transfer me some money! Give me back the 50% commission I took from the gifts! You took a lot of kickbacks from me, didn't you know that?"

Gong Huai: "? Are you also paying the anchor there?"

"I didn't intend to do too much, I just wanted to find some sweet-talking little boys to chat with me."

Lily pouted as she spoke. "Then, a idiot popped up in that streamer's room and started arguing with me. I gave him 3,000 and he gave me 3,500. I gave him 5,000 and he gave me 10,000."

Gong Huai was a little confused and always felt that something was wrong.

Ning Zhiran picked up the takeaway and looked at the recipient's ID printed on the takeaway bag. He felt that something was wrong.

He felt that he must have seen it wrong, so he glanced up, raised his head, shook his head, and then looked down again.

No way!

Huh? Lily's ID is...

Peach Oolong Tea??!!
