Chapter 1: Traveling Through a Book
The morning mist has not yet dissipated and the sky is dim.
The old women and maids in the courtyard have already gotten up and started a new day of cleaning.
Inside the room, the copper stove with gilt lotus patterns at the foot of the bed was still filled with the scent of thin incense sticks.
The azure curtain was gently pulled from the inside, and a figure sat up in a daze, looking around the room blankly.
Lu Xinran came here three days ago. When she woke up, she heard a lot of noise around her. The shouting and calling of the servants kept rushing into her ears. She was wet and was wrapped in a blanket and carried back to the room.
After that, she was always drowsy. When it was time to take medicine or eat, someone would come to wake her up and help her drink bowl after bowl of soup and porridge.
There was a maid lying fast asleep beside the bed, looking at the room, still a little dazed.
"You're awake."
A child's voice rang in her mind, and the confusion in her head instantly dissipated, and she looked around vigilantly.
"Don't look at me, I'm in your mind, I'm your favorite."
Lu Xinran was speechless and "spoke human language"
"Oh, you are dying of illness..."
The child's hesitant voice recounted in detail how it had worked so hard to stuff her soul into her current body.
Then Lu Xinran found himself in a book.
She is the real daughter in the book who does all kinds of bad things because of jealousy, while the heroine is the fake daughter who has been living as a lady in the Shangshu Mansion because of a misunderstanding with her.
The original character in the book returned to the Shangshu Mansion and saw its wealth. Then he thought about his own life in the countryside and couldn't help feeling resentful towards the heroine.
All her family members disliked and looked down on her because she grew up in the countryside and had vulgar words and deeds.
The original person was trembling with fear and being cautious every day, and was laughed at no matter what she did, while the fake daughter was loved and pampered.
So when she learned that the fake daughter was going to marry the prince, her resentment immediately reached its peak.
She acted like a little clown step by step, doing all kinds of bad things just to assist the hero and heroine, and then ended up with a miserable death.
Lu Xinran hissed. She actually encountered such a ridiculous plot!
"So, I gave you a second life. You should be grateful to me and help me earn energy."
Lu Xinran had a headache, "How can I help you earn energy? Do all the crazy and bad things like in the book?"
It would be better to let her die again.
"No, no, I am a melon-eating system. As long as I have melons to eat every day, I will have energy. You also have life points. Your life points are only one month now. If you want to live a long life, you must work hard to eat more melons."
Lu Xinran: “…”
What a weird system, but it's just a melon? Is that what she thought?
"It's just as you thought. Let me show you first."
The child's voice in her head suddenly jumped up, and Lu Xinran felt as if something moved in her mind. Then she saw a panel with a search box on the top and brochures on the bottom.
"If you want to know whose melons you want to eat, just search inside and you will find them. We are now testing the new system and can also give you the enhanced version for a few days."
Is it so magical?
Lu Xinran glanced at the maid who was still sleeping beside the bed, and typed the name she heard in her daze: Cuizhu.
This maid, um, the second-class maid beside the old lady, felt that she was pitiful and took the initiative to come over to take care of her.
Thinking of the description of the old lady in the book, she looked at Cuizhu again. This maid might be useful.
Perhaps feeling her gaze, Cuizhu woke up in a daze, looked up and saw the figure on the bed, and immediately shouted in surprise.
"Girl, you're awake! Are you feeling better?"
Cuizhu stood up and quickly drew aside the curtain. She wanted to reach out to touch Lu Xinran's forehead, but then she felt it was impolite and quickly took two steps back.
Lu Xinran hummed: "Much better, help me up."
After lying down for three days, my bones became soft.
Cuizhu went outside to call someone to help her get up and wash, and then asked someone to deliver a message to the main courtyard.
A servant came in carrying a food box. It was not a sumptuous breakfast, just a bowl of white porridge, a basket of steamed buns, and two plates of side dishes.
Lu Xinran looked at the food on the table, then raised his eyes to look at Cuizhu.
Cuizhu scratched her hair uncomfortably, and Lu Xinran understood instantly.
It's good enough for an unfavored country girl to have a stutter.
However, she was penniless and had nowhere to go if she didn't stay here, and there were the most melons in a place like the capital.
"Yes, the capital has the most melons. Everyone has some dirty deeds. I guarantee that you will be able to save a lot of life points in no time."
The child's voice sounded again, very excited.
Lu Xinran nodded in agreement. After eating liquid food for three days, she didn't care what the doctor said and ate it like whirlwind.
The maids serving in the room had different expressions on their faces.
She thought about how she used to watch videos while eating. She opened the melon-eating system and watched the maids' melons as if they were electronic pickles.
Tsk, he really thinks highly of her.
She was a real daughter who was not favored, but she had people coming from all the rooms.
Even the fake daughter Lu Xinlan sent a capable maid over. She turned her head to glance at Bi Tao who was standing respectfully beside her and smiled.
Just after breakfast, a nanny came from the main courtyard and was asked by Madam Zhao to come over.
Lu Xinran frowned. She had a high fever after falling into the water. She had been resting for three days and had just recovered today. She could get out of bed and walk. Did Mrs. Zhao really hate this biological daughter who was maliciously swapped?
"Will the eldest girl also go with mother?"
The nanny who came to deliver the message smiled awkwardly. The young lady was a precious lady and had just gotten better after taking a cool shower. How could she be so alarmed?
If the lady wants to see her, she can go to her yard in person.
She didn't say anything, but Lu Xinran had already gotten the answer from her expression, and she chuckled.
"Mammy, go back and answer first. I'll change my clothes and come over."
After the old nanny left, Cuizhu and Bitao helped her back to her room to change clothes.
After walking out of the yard, Lu Xinran stood at the intersection and glanced at Bitao: "Let's go to Wutong Garden."
"girl?"
Bi Tao was startled, and met Lu Xinran's half-smiley gaze, and hurriedly led people to Wutong Garden with a guilty conscience.
Lu Xinlan had just woken up at this time. She was different from Lu Xinran. Although she had also traveled through time, she had the memory of her original body and knew what this body had experienced in the past.
It took her a whole morning to digest the memories of her original body. Just as she was hesitating about what to do, she saw Lu Xinran enter the yard.
"Why is my sister here?"
"My mother asked us to go over there, so I wanted to come and see my sister first."
[Of course I want to see if the biased Zhao will look unhappy if I bring you along.]
Two voices rang in Lu Xinlan's ears in succession. She looked at Lu Xinran in surprise. She was sure that the other party only said the first sentence. What about the second sentence?
Completely unaware of the situation, Lu Xinran looked at her with a smile and said, "Let's go. Mother is still waiting for you."
Lu Xinlan looked at her suspiciously, but still walked with her to the courtyard of the first lady Zhao.
As soon as I entered the corridor, I met the little maid from the old lady Pei's courtyard, "Two girls, the old lady wants you to come over."
[Old lady? She knew they woke up so quickly? ]
The voice appeared in Lu Xinlan's ears again.
She calmly glanced at Lu Xinran who was walking beside her, confirming once again that she didn't know that her thoughts would be heard by others.
