Shen Zhiyi was speechless. She looked at Ye Tingru, but Ye Tingru didn't respond at all, avoiding her gaze and turning her head away. This made Shen Zhiyi really angry.
She wanted to ask Ye Tingru what she was thinking, whether she took her best friend seriously, that the man she liked was kept by her side as her secretary, and that she had specifically told her that she didn't want him to stay in the company, but Ye Tingru didn't even consult her.
Shen Zhiyi felt very uncomfortable. After all, they had been best friends for over ten years. Why did things suddenly start to go wrong?
Su Che sensed the subtle tension between his two best friends and just wanted to escape this awful place as quickly as possible. He immediately freed one hand and, as if on cue, quickly pressed buttons in his pocket using muscle memory.
A ding-dong sound.
"Hello, you have a new order. Please check your inbox."
"It's done!"
The sound of the order being accepted echoed in Su Che's mind like heavenly music. He hated living in the cracks the most, so he turned to the two of them and gave them instructions.
"Since you both want to stay here, then you can stay."
"I need to accept the food delivery order. It's already automatically accepted. If it's late, the station manager will call and yell at me."
"Didn't I tell you I'd give you paid leave? Why are you still delivering food?" Ye Tingru asked, frowning and somewhat displeased.
Seeing her somewhat unfriendly expression, Su Che felt a chill and coughed lightly to explain, "Although I'm about to change jobs, I should finish what I started. I'll be going now."
Then Su Che ignored the two of them, went back to his room alone to change into his yellow robe, put on his helmet, and walked out of the house.
A moment later, the two women in the room stared at each other, one big and one small. Shen Zhiyi glared at Ye Tingru with a hint of anger, not saying a word, while Ye Tingru sat on the sofa with a calm and collected expression, pretending not to know anything, fiddling with her phone.
Su Che had just put on his hat and stepped out of his building when he suddenly saw a familiar figure flash by. He drifted toward the figure, and his right eyelid suddenly twitched violently.
Just as he was wondering whether his right eye twitching was a good thing or a bad thing, his phone suddenly rang. The figure on the other end looked over at the sound, and after seeing Su Che, the graceful figure walked towards Su Che.
"Ran... Ranran, why did you come here?" Su Che felt a little dazed, staring blankly at Wen Shuran who was carrying a large pile of oysters and chives.
"What, you're not welcoming me?" Wen Shuran asked Su Che, her eyes slightly narrowed.
"No...no."
"Unfortunately, the timing isn't very convenient. I just received an order and I'm about to go deliver it," Su Che said, picking up his phone, opening the delivery information, and then showing the phone to Wen Shuran so she could see that he hadn't lied to her.
Seeing the message on her phone, Wen Shuran nodded. "Oh, then you go ahead. What floor do you live on? Give me your key, and I'll wait for you at your place."
Su Che looked at Wen Shuran's outstretched hand, his lips twitching uncontrollably. How could he dare to hand the key to Wen Shuran when there were still two people in the house?
"Ranran, let's just forget about it. How about we go back today? I'll come find you another day?" Su Che asked tentatively, his eyes darting around.
Wen Shuran frowned almost imperceptibly, but still didn't pull her outstretched hand back. "Then I should deliver these things I brought to your house."
"This...this..."
"Could it be that you have something shameful in your home?" Wen Shuran stared intently at Su Che.
"I...I..."
Su Che's eyes darted around, unsure of what to say. He was filled with regret; he should have changed his clothes sooner.
Give me the key!
"I... I'll take you there."
In the end, Su Che relented and slowly led Wen Shuran upstairs.
Arriving at his front door, Su Che took a few deep breaths, mentally preparing himself, but still couldn't bring himself to open the door. Shen Zhiyi was naive and simple, but Wen Shuran was no pushover.
Moreover, he had been very intimate with Ye Tingru last night, and with a scheming young rich woman also around, as well as the unpredictable Wen Shuran, the thought of his little secret with Ye Tingru being discovered by Wen Shuran and exposed in front of everyone made Su Che's legs tremble even more than when he had just woken up that morning.
"Open the door."
Wen Shuran waited for a long time but Su Che didn't knock on the door, so she urged him impatiently.
Su Che gritted his teeth, stomped his foot, took out his key, and opened the door with a click. As soon as the door opened, Chen Zhiyi's voice came from inside.
"Ye Zi, what do you mean?"
"I've already apologized to you, what more do you want?"
Shen Zhiyi's somewhat angry voice stunned Su Che. Wen Shuran, who was behind him, naturally heard Shen Zhiyi's voice as well. She gave Su Che a meaningful look, and then walked past him and into the room.
Su Che, standing behind them, was having a headache. Weren't these two best friends? Hadn't the misunderstanding been cleared up? The volume of their argument didn't sound like that of best friends at all.
The two women were arguing fiercely when they saw Su Che bring in a woman, and they both tacitly fell silent.
"Su Che, why did you bring her back?" Ye Tingru asked, looking at Su Che at the door.
He was silent for a moment, then Wen Shuran nudged Su Che, who was still silent, and said, "She's asking you."
"I came back to pee and happened to see Ranran..." After saying that, Su Che ran straight to the toilet.
After Su Che made his escape to the bathroom, the living room was filled with an unusual silence as the six of them stared at each other.
