Chapter 11 A Barely Acceptable Age
Apart from official business, Yu Yin always acts as a topic terminator in front of Mr. Lang, intentionally or unintentionally.
Seeing her like this, Mr. Lang wondered if she was truly clueless, or a master of the romantic field. He was more inclined to the first guess.
Yu Yin is both stunningly beautiful and elegant, a combination of these two qualities that is truly captivating.
He said that her modesty was not just the modesty when talking about ancient coins, but a modesty that was so glamorous that she didn't realize it. He attributed the reason to her wealthy family background and simple upbringing.
Mr. Lang has seen countless women and has been a frequent visitor. He will love someone very much, but will also quickly abandon and get tired of them. His interest in Miss Hong has begun to fade, and he wants to find someone new to accompany him.
He is rich and talented. Although he is at the age of knowing the destiny, there are still many women who throw themselves at him like moths to a flame.
What were they after? Money, or his talent? Whatever it was, he didn't care, because each of them was a part of him, the so-called charm.
During a break from discussing work with Mr. Lang, Yu Yin's eyelids drooped slightly, and she noticed that her ring finger was empty; she had gone out without her wedding ring. It seemed she had felt uncomfortable wearing it one day last year and had taken it off, rarely wearing it since.
Mr. Lang left the exhibition venue after receiving a phone call, but Ms. Hong did not leave with him. She stayed there, ostensibly to supervise but actually to kill time.
She and Mo Qianyao got along very well, and Mo Qianyao wanted to use the same trick again to get Mr. Lang's next touring exhibition job through her.
Yu Yin also came to the rest area to rest.
A considerate intern offered to make her a cup of coffee. She smiled and thanked the intern. The intern gave a shy smile and went back to work.
It was the same for Yu Yin when she was an intern. Whenever she received a compliment from her leader like "being attentive", she would feel a sense of satisfaction of being affirmed. As a newcomer to the workplace, she was easily satisfied.
Yu Yin drank coffee while listening to Mo Qianyao and Miss Hong chatting.
Miss Hong was chatting happily at this time, and the topic was not too taboo. Suddenly, Mo Qianyao's phone vibrated. She took a look and pressed the power button twice to hang up.
Ms. Hong also glanced at Mo Qianyao's phone screen and teased, "It's her boyfriend calling. He must be quite young. You can call him. I don't mind."
"It's okay for me to call you later. Our relationship is more important." Mo Qianyao indirectly acknowledged her words.
Yu Yin secretly thought that Miss Hong was amazing and a real expert. Mo Qianyao's boyfriend was not yet twenty-one years old this year. He was their junior from the same school. They met him last year when they returned to school to attend the school anniversary.
Some time ago, on New Year's Day, the two of them were together. The younger apprentice was very clingy and always wanted to come to the studio to see her, but he didn't dare to go to her house, so he would just wait for her in the lobby downstairs. Occasionally, Yu Yin and Xiang Yue would even get to enjoy the afternoon tea he bought for Mo Qianyao.
Ms. Hong said: "Younger boys are more clingy. Young people have their advantages, and older people have their advantages."
Mo Qianyao thought of the relationship between Miss Hong and Mr. Lang, so she agreed with her, "It's true that they each have their own merits. Isn't it said that men are in their prime at 41?"
"That being said, I think young women should think carefully when they meet men of this age. A forty-year-old man is attractive, and with proper maintenance, fifty is still acceptable. But when a man reaches sixty, he ages drastically. A woman is still young then, with a long life ahead of her. It would be miserable to be with an older man. He's happy, but I can't be. If you want to get married, the age gap shouldn't be too big..."
At this point, Ms. Hong realized she had slipped up and changed the subject: "But... as long as two people truly love each other, age isn't a problem. I tend to get a little lost in conversation and tend to slip into clichés. Lang Heng always says I'm vulgar and he's elegant, and that we're a perfect match."
In an instant, Yu Yin and Mo Qianyao both picked up their coffee and drank it at the same time, pretending not to know that she was trying to make up for it.
After Yu Yin put down his coffee cup, he said jokingly, "Mr. Lang and Ms. Hong are a perfect match, both elegant and vulgar. With such a perfect match, I wonder when I'll have the honor of hearing your happy news."
Ms. Hong said: "We will let nature take its course and make plans when fate takes its course."
Yu Yin and Mo Qianyao both said that they were romantic and a couple who were in love with each other, and they also praised Miss Hong a few more times.
Miss Hong's mood became better and better. The embarrassment of having said the wrong thing just now disappeared, and she had a very enjoyable chat with them.
When Xiang Yue returned to the exhibition venue, Miss Hong was no longer there. Yu Yin and Mo Qianyao were busy, so she joined them.
There were a lot of things to deal with in the afternoon, and the three of them were so busy that they didn't even have time to chat. They worked overtime together to complete today's work before leaving get off work.
Mo Qianyao hadn't bought a car yet, and Xiang Yue didn't drive; her car had been inspected yesterday. Yu Yin, the only one of the three who drove to work, was responsible for taking them home today.
However, because the car owner has a rich imagination, he always has the idea that he will encounter danger if he drives carelessly, so he drives too safely. So he asks Yue Lai to be the driver, first take Mo Qianyao back, then take himself home, and finally the car owner drives back to the final destination. This way, time can be saved, which is good for you, me, and everyone.
On the way back, Mo Qianyao mentioned what happened that afternoon, "I don't think Miss Hong is planning to have a long-term relationship with Mr. Lang."
Xiang Yue said, "I thought they were quite affectionate, and Mr. Lang doted on her."
"Yu Yin deliberately brought up the topic of marriage today, but Miss Hong's response was vague and nonsensical, suggesting she had no intention of marrying Mr. Lang. Mr. Lang is fifty, barely at the age where he can accept a relationship. Once Miss Hong's novelty wears off, they'll be over. I think it's going to end soon. Trying to secure the touring exhibition project from her probably won't work."
Yu Yin, who was sitting in the passenger seat, leaned over and said, "They're both alike. Mr. Lang isn't loyal to Ms. Hong either. They might just need an opportunity to end things."
Xiang Yue asked her how she knew that, and she told her about Mr. Lang's behavior in the afternoon.
After hearing this, Mo Qianyao said, "Wow, he's clearly trying to flirt with you. No wonder you told Miss Hong you were married. If Miss Hong mentions it to him, he'll know about it, and then he should back off."
Yu Yin said, "And just in case, I'll wear the ring tomorrow. Even the dumbest person would know."
Xiang Yue disagreed: "Not necessarily. Perhaps he's a person of both meat and vegetables, and enjoys the forbidden and stimulating. He likes old things and reveres the past. Perhaps he also wants to emulate the romantic stories of the ancients, like Cao Cao also loved wives."
As soon as Xiang Yue finished speaking, the car fell silent.
