Chapter 115 The Continuing Cold War 2
Zhao Shunian turned over to Yu Yin's side, opened his eyes and looked at her in a daze.
Zhao Shunian gradually adapted to the darkness, and his vision was no longer pitch black. He raised his hand and pinched Yu Yin's cheek.
While sleeping, Yu Yin had a dream. She was wrapped in a quilt in the snow. The cold wind blew, and she wrapped herself tightly in the quilt.
She was clearly sleeping in a warm bedroom, so why was she here? Had she traveled through time? The time travel master must have disliked her, sending her alone to this vast, white wilderness. Perhaps she was the fastest traveler to die.
Suddenly, Yu Yin felt a mosquito bite on her cheek, and she began the difficult task of driving it away.
If she didn't drive away the mosquitoes, she would be bitten by them and it would be very uncomfortable. If she drove away the mosquitoes, she would have to stretch out her hands, and the cold wind would blow into the quilt, making her shiver.
Yu Yin complained about why there were mosquitoes in the snow and ice. Did the mosquitoes mutate?
Faced with the constant harassment of mosquitoes, Yu Yin could not bear it anymore. She plucked up the courage to reach out from under the quilt and slap the mosquitoes.
She was almost freezing to death! Suddenly, she saw a tent and went in wrapped in a blanket. It was so warm inside!
A question popped into her mind: why would she expose her face to the wind outside instead of covering it?
In reality, Zhao Shunian's hand was slapped by Yu Yin, and he withdrew his hand. The next second, Yu Yin leaned towards him and hugged him like a human pillow.
Zhao Shunian murmured, "You threw yourself into my arms, it's none of my business."
Zhao Shunian hugged Yu Yin back and held her tighter. The familiar breath and fragrance made him feel at ease, and he gradually fell asleep.
The next morning, Yu Yin woke up to find herself sleeping in Zhao Shunian's arms. She felt a little sore, probably from staying in that position all night. It seemed unusual for a couple who had just argued two days before to sleep so intimately without reconciling.
Yu Yin thought Zhao Shunian must be sleeping rashly, leaning closer to her. She decided to pretend to be asleep and observe his reaction.
Soon, Zhao Shunian slowly opened his eyes and stared at Yu Yin for a moment. He realized something was wrong. She was pretending to be asleep, definitely trying to test his reaction. Since that was the case, he decided to pretend to be asleep too. If he had the guts, he'd sleep here all day to see who gave up first.
Yu Yin complained in her heart about how Zhao Shunian was pretending to sleep. She didn't want to lose, and slowly her fake sleep turned into real sleep.
Not long after, Yu Yin woke up again. As time passed, she felt that her eyelids were tired from sleeping. Zhao Shunian was too patient, and his desire to win should not be underestimated.
Yu Yin was hungry and wanted to go to the bathroom again. Never mind, it's better not to embarrass your body.
Yu Yin pretended to have just woken up and opened her eyes. She sat up and asked, "Why do you hold me while sleeping?"
Zhao Shunian's arm had been numb and limp from Yu Yin's pillow. He remained lying there, trying not to let Yu Yin notice. "You were the one who snuggled into my arms, not me."
"It's obviously you..." Yu Yin looked at the beds on both sides and found that he was indeed leaning towards Zhao Shunian. "Even if there is, it's not what I want. Let's sleep in separate rooms tonight, so that someone won't think they have something on me and won't let go."
Zhao Shunian was choked for a moment and made a mistake.
In the second round, Yu won narrowly because of his superior skills.
………
Over the next few days, Zhao Shunian returned home on time for dinner and rest. Yu Yin felt that he didn't come home too often, but every day.
Yu Yin also figured out what Zhao Shunian meant by coming home every day. The more she didn't want to see him, the more he wanted to stay here.
Yu Yin was determined not to hide from him any longer, or he would succeed. She also began to make her presence known, saying she was there, and if he wanted to admit his mistake, there was always a chance. As for whether to forgive or not, that was another matter.
Then she didn't avoid being in the same space with Zhao Shunian, nor did she feel tortured.
Zhao Shunian wanted to remind her constantly that they hadn't reconciled after their quarrel, so she couldn't act like nothing had happened. She didn't care at all. She ate well and slept well, but he was the only one who was suffering.
In the evening, Zhao Shunian stayed in his study to work. Yu Yin also came in and sat on the sofa under the window, watching a TV series. She thought she was quite polite, wearing headphones so as not to disturb others. Zhao Shunian was busy working, while she was happily resting.
Yu Yin felt that Zhao Shunian was asking for trouble. It would be much more convenient and efficient to handle work in the office, but he insisted on staying at home.
Yu Yin also felt that she had given Zhao Shunian many opportunities, so could he apologize to her quickly? His distrust that day hurt her heart.
The cold war between the two lasted an unprecedentedly long time, and Yu Yin hoped that Zhao Shunian would admit his mistake and give in first.
Zhao Shunian's mentality was beginning to soften, hoping Yu Yin would give him a way out, and if he did, he would compromise. But Yu Yin showed no signs of softening, which disappointed Zhao Shunian.
They spent a lot more time together than before the quarrel, and Yu Yin wondered what was so strange about this phenomenon.
The new year is coming soon.
Zhao Shunian's birthday was in early January. Around this time last year, Yu Yin felt their marriage was ending, so she perfunctorily asked Yu Meimei to pick a gift for him. She doesn't even remember what it was, and she doesn't take it seriously at all.
Last year, on Yu Yin's birthday, Zhao Shunian had given her a thoughtful gift. She felt she owed him a good birthday in return. But things didn't go as planned, and they had a quarrel, which they haven't reconciled to this day. Yu Yin wasn't sure whether she should have celebrated his birthday that year.
Yu Yin was so worried that he didn't decide on a gift for Zhao Shunian's birthday, and even didn't ask Yu Meimei to prepare one.
At noon, she had lunch with Xiang Yue and Mo Qianyao, and she brought up her dilemma: "Zhao Shunian and I haven't reconciled yet, but today is his birthday. Should I get him a gift?"
Mo Qianyao and Xiang Yue exclaimed in surprise at the same time: "You haven't reconciled yet?"
Yu Yin nodded gently. "I think I'm right, and he thinks he's right. We're stuck there."
She found that she and Zhao Shunian had some similarities. When it came to matters of principle and they didn't think they were wrong, they were very stubborn. They were both stubborn people.
Mo Qianyao thought for a moment and said, "Does he take his birthday seriously?"
"He doesn't seem to take it too seriously. He treats it as just another day. His family tradition is that birthdays aren't celebrated much while parents are still alive. You won't be able to enjoy his birthday feast until he's at least sixty."
Xiang Yue said, "Since he himself doesn't take it seriously, you can just treat it as an ordinary day."
Mo Qianyao disagreed. "That's not the way to put it. I can treat it as normal, but if people around me remember and celebrate their birthday, they should be happy. It shows that they care about them and hold them in their hearts."
Mo Qianyao asked Yu Yin: "Do you like others to give you birthday gifts?"
"If I receive a birthday gift from someone I know well, I'll feel happy, but if it's someone I don't know well, I'll feel like it's a burden."
"Do you think Zhao Shunian would be happy if you gave him a birthday present, or would he consider it a burden?"
