Chapter 2 Unexpected Distress

Xiao Bai listened to their conversation drowsily, the sound buzzing back and forth in the car.

The weather was getting hotter and hotter, and the car was getting more stuffy. The people chatting gradually quieted down and began to feel drowsy. The car's windows were sealed and could not be opened. The old car had no air conditioning, so the lack of oxygen in the car made people feel groggy.

Xiao Bai suddenly felt like the car was a steamer, and she was the steamed dumpling inside. The constant shaking of the car made her feel like she was being carried around in a hot steamer, not knowing where she was being taken. Honestly, this feeling was truly terrible. Xiao Bai shook her head, discarding the strange thought, and began to drift off to sleep as the car jolted.

The car kept moving forward, the winding road seemed to have no end. The car kept turning left and right, turning one corner and then another. Each corner was like a mysterious door. You never know what is behind this door. Is it home? Another corner?

Xiao Bai suddenly recalled a childhood text: "Beyond the mountain, there's the mountain, and beyond the mountain, the mountain, its face livid." And now, behind the curve, there's the curve, the curve behind the curve, giving you endless hope, yet also endless disappointment. Xiao Bai suddenly felt that the curve had become distorted and terrifying, like a black, endless mouth, with wisps of thin black smoke rising from it, its mouth stretched wide, trying to swallow the passing cars.

Xiao Bai suddenly woke up in fright, it turned out to be just a dream.

Xiao Bai wiped the sweat from his forehead and cheeks, and breathed a sigh of relief. He was almost home. However, today's journey seemed a little far...

"not good!"

Suddenly, the driver yelled. Xiao Bai felt the car suddenly hurtle like an out-of-control beast, his body swaying uncontrollably from side to side. His heart was in his throat, and a strong sense of crisis came over him. He felt his heart beating so fast that it almost jumped out of his chest. Suddenly, there was a loud "bang", and Xiao Bai felt dizzy and lost consciousness.

I don't know how long it took...

"Hurry up, hurry up, there are still people!"

In a daze, Xiao Bai heard chaotic footsteps, people shouting, crying, and all kinds of messy noises. The sounds were sometimes far away, sometimes near, sometimes real, sometimes unreal. She wanted to listen carefully, but she couldn't resist the deep sleepiness. Her mind seemed to be in a daze, but also seemed to be awake.

"The flowers bloom by the river, red like a wedding veil, small flowers, inside is my home..."

It was as if the tender singing of a child was ringing in her ears, and there were bursts of crisp ringing sounds, seemingly far and near, lingering in her ears. Xiao Bai felt that she must be dreaming. She remembered that the car seemed to have hit something, and she seemed to faint, but she seemed to be unusually awake. She heard someone singing and soft voices in her ears. She tried hard to open her eyes to see, but she couldn't open them... This was really unbelievable. She must be dreaming.

"Blooming by the river, red like a wedding veil, little flower, inside is my home..."

The singing seemed to be getting closer and closer, and the sound of the wind was getting closer and closer along with the ringing of the bells. In the hazy state, Xiao Bai seemed to see white shadows floating past her eyes. Xiao Bai tried hard to open her eyes, but she couldn't. However, she could clearly feel the floating shadows, like flowers, red spider lilies, commonly known as ghost flowers in her hometown.

Is she dead? Xiao Bai thought in a daze, his consciousness gradually becoming blurred.
