Chapter 45 Encountering a Mutant Plant Attack

Xiao Bai, Xiao Yao and others drove along several patrol points that had been set up before. The hunting dogs on the ground were running wildly in the mountains and forests, and the thrush in the sky led the birds to patrol diligently. Finally, all the patrol points that could be reached by car were patrolled. The sun was setting and it was already afternoon. The next three patrol points required climbing.

A group of people climbed up the mountain with various equipment on their backs to patrol and check. When they finally reached the peak of the last patrol point, both the people and the dogs were gasping for breath from exhaustion.

"Oh, don't ask me, an old man, to do this kind of patrol work next time. I'm already old, and I can't stand climbing this mountain! After climbing a few times, my old bones will fall apart!" As soon as my uncle climbed to the top of the mountain, he collapsed to the ground, pounding his legs and complaining.

Xiao Bai was lying next to her uncle with a bag on her back. She didn't even have the strength to speak. Although her physical condition had improved a lot now, she was still exhausted after running so many places in a day.

The little squirrel that was hiding in the backpack ran out by itself as soon as it arrived at the place, and jumped around in the forest. For it, arriving in the forest was like returning to its happy home!

The little squirrel ran in the forest for a while, sniffing around with its little nose. Suddenly, it smelled some strange and disgusting odors. The little squirrel immediately stood up, rubbed its fat cheeks with its paws in annoyance, and continued to run around and sniff with its little nose. Songbao always felt that this place was dangerous, but it turned around and didn't find anything unusual, no crazy animals, and no strange plants.

But the feeling of danger lingered.

Songbao hugged his big tail and scratched the hair on his tail in annoyance. He thought for a long time but still couldn't find where this feeling of danger came from. He could only sigh. He turned his head to look at Xiao Bai who was slumped on the ground. His black eyes rolled around a few times, and then he quickly climbed along Xiao Bai's trouser legs to her shoulders, and grabbed Xiao Bai's hair with his two little paws and pulled it hard.

"Ouch, Songbao, why are you pulling my hair?" Xiao Bai felt a pain when his hair was pulled, and he grabbed Songbao and threw him to the ground: "I'm busy, go play by yourself!"

Xiao Bai finished speaking, then slowly climbed up, opened the backpack containing the drone, and prepared to begin the patrol with everyone. After inspecting this hilltop, the patrol was complete and we could go home! If we had to do this every week, it would be really tiring! She had brought so many snacks today, but she was too busy to slack off!

Songbao was so anxious that he jumped up and down and squeaked.

"Xiaobai, where did you get this squirrel? Is it a pet squirrel?" Xiao Yao came over with a bag, looked at the little squirrel that was jumping around with its claws and fangs bared, and asked curiously.

"It brought itself to my door." Xiao Bai said as he took off Song Bao, who was grabbing his sleeve and pulling at him. He opened the backpack he was carrying, took out a bag of pine nuts, opened it, and handed it to Song Bao, saying, "Go and play by yourself. Don't disturb me while I'm working."

The little squirrel looked at the pine nut handed to it, and then looked at Xiao Bai who was completely clueless and had no sense of danger. It was so angry that its black eyes widened. Then it flicked its tail, turned its back to Xiao Bai and sulked. Then it thought, no matter how stupid the owner was, it couldn't go with the pine nut, so it turned around and snatched the pine nut from Xiao Bai's hand.

"Oh, this little squirrel is so smart!" Zhang Kai also came over to look at the little squirrel.

"This little squirrel is really funny, but does it have ADHD? It's holding a handful of pine nuts and pointing at you while shouting and jumping. Is it scolding you? Hahahaha!"

One paw was hooked on the pine nut bag and the other paw was pointing at Xiao Bai, who was squeaking:...

It seems that there are still smart people here. Alas, the shit scooper is too stupid, the squirrel sighed.

"Is your squirrel usually like this? Why do I feel like it wants to tell you something?" He opened his mouth and touched his chin as if thinking.

"I heard that some smart little animals will become particularly manic when they encounter danger, and will also give people warnings? It seems so much like that..." My uncle, who was sitting nearby watching the excitement, was halfway through his words when he suddenly jumped up from the ground and shouted, "Be careful, there is danger here!"

As soon as he finished speaking, there were sudden vibrations from under the land where they were resting. The soil on the ground began to slowly crack upwards and bulge out into mounds of earth. Then, countless brown vines suddenly broke out of the bulging mounds on the surrounding ground. These vines grew rapidly upwards with their fangs and claws bared. The top of the vine that was constantly twisting at the top was curved, like a coiled mosquito coil, and there were long and short brown hairs growing on the vines.

The branches of the vines continued to twist and grow upwards, and in a short period of time they grew to two or three meters high. The vines from all directions almost surrounded them!

Isn't this just an enlarged version of a newborn fern?! Are normal ferns this big and so many?!

"Oh no, these plants have mutated, let's get out of here!" My uncle yelled and immediately pulled Xiao Bai, who was closest to him, down the mountain.

At the shout, the vines rustling upwards suddenly paused, and then the curled tips at the top suddenly turned in the direction of the group's running. This strange scene made the people who were running and checking the situation break into cold sweats! Then, the next second, the ground in their direction began to shake slightly, and long mounds of earth continued to extend and arch in their direction, as if something was rapidly chasing them from the ground.
