Chapter 66: Bad Luck Never Happens Only Once 1

The dim light shone through the dry and sparse branches, from the top of the redwood tree, and fell on Xiao Bai's eyelashes.

Xiao Bai squinted his eyes subconsciously because of the slanting sunlight. The next moment, the wolf leader in front moved.

The leader wolf on the hillside jumped high. Xiao Bai saw that the leader wolf was facing the setting sun, and the sunlight gave its gray hair a layer of yellow light.

The wolf leader really knew how to seize the opportunity. While Xiao Bai was squinting her eyes, he jumped in front of her in a few leaps. Without saying a word, he opened his big mouth full of sharp fangs and bit towards Xiao Bai's throat.

Xiao Bai was startled and stepped back involuntarily. The wolf leader was so fast that when she subconsciously whipped her whip to stop it, the wolf leader was already in front of her.

Xiao Bai had a hunch that something was wrong!

The next moment, she felt a sharp pain in her shoulder, where the wolf had ripped a large gash. Blood instantly stained her arm and clothes red! Xiao Bai covered her arm and stumbled back, her heart pounding. Fortunately, she subconsciously turned her body to the side, otherwise, it would have been her neck that was bitten off.

Xiao Bai's face was pale from blood loss, and cold sweat streamed down his face. Half of it was from fear, and half from pain.

This wolf was truly formidable! Just one encounter had already left her severely injured!

[Are you okay?] The book spirit hurriedly floated over to check on Xiao Bai's wound. When the wolf leader jumped over, he had already controlled the vines to try to stop it, but the wolf leader was too fast!

"This is a wolf with a speed mutation. Be careful. The vines might not be able to stop it." The book spirit said worriedly. If Xiao Bai got hurt, his spirit core would be wasted.

Xiao Bai didn't have time to care about anything else. She covered her shoulder and immediately picked up the long stick at her side and held it in her hand to defend herself. This was a melee weapon she prepared to use when mutant animals approached.

The leader wolf licked the blood on its fangs and licked all the blood from the corners of its mouth into its stomach. It seemed that it was very satisfied with the taste of the blood. The saliva from the corners of its mouth flowed more, wetting its hair. The blood mixed with the wolf's saliva emitted a disgusting smell.

The wolf leader paced back and forth on the spot, then bared its fangs at Xiao Bai. It bent its four claws, lowered its body and half-crouched on the ground, leaning forward. This was the attacking posture of a wild beast.

Xiao Baiqiang perked up, holding the long stick with both hands and taking a defensive posture.

Although her shoulder was still in severe pain, fortunately the bleeding had stopped. This was thanks to the fact that her physical fitness and self-healing ability had improved after she became enlightened. If it were in the past, she would have fainted from the pain by now.

The wolf leader then launched a second attack on Xiao Bai, running towards him wildly. Xiao Bai was holding a long stick, and the stick techniques he learned from books came in handy at this time. Although he still could not keep up with the wolf leader's attack speed, he managed to block the wolf leader.

Xiao Bai was fighting hard with the wolf leader here, and right above their battle, a floating black figure appeared out of nowhere.

"It's really exciting!" Dark Tengu folded his arms and watched the battle below.

He looked down at the vines that formed a circle and kept whipping the mutated animals, and then looked at the man and the wolf fighting in the middle of the vines.

Dark Tengu licked his sharp fangs and took out a spirit core the size of a fingernail from his pocket.

The moment the spirit core was taken out, the mutated animals below immediately looked up. Even the leader wolf that was attacking Xiao Bai paused, and its bright red eyes involuntarily looked upwards.

The Dark Tengu hummed, emitting the aura of a high-level dark creature, instantly suppressing the flock of mutant birds below that were eager to fly up and snatch the spirit core.

"What a bunch of lowly pigs, yet so courageous!"

The flock of birds suddenly fell down and huddled on the branches like quails.

The wings of the flock of birds above fluttered for a moment, and then returned to calm. Xiao Bai looked up at the leader wolf's gaze, and saw only a black shadow against the light in the sky, a tiny black dot that could not be seen clearly.

Dark Tengu admired the spirit core in his hand.

"It's so beautiful and smells so good, but it's too hard to find and there are too few of them! It's such a bargain for you pigs!" He licked the spirit core reluctantly, and the next moment, he threw it down.

"Then let's make the battle even more intense! Hahahaha!"

The moment the spirit core fell, the animals below all rioted. The animals with red eyes ran madly towards the direction where the spirit core fell. Not far away, countless mutated animals ran towards it following the breath of the spirit core.

The riot came so suddenly! Xiao Bai was caught off guard by the animals running from behind, causing him to stumble and fall backwards, losing his balance. The next moment, he was completely submerged in the running herd of animals.

"Squeak, squeak!" The little squirrel Songbao became anxious when he saw his owner being surrounded by the group of animals.

While Xiao Bai was fighting the wolves, Li Ming and Song Bao were dragged to the side by vines. Fortunately, the vines tied up the semi-conscious Li Ming and hung him on a tree to prevent him from being affected by the battle. Song Bao lay on Li Ming's bald head and watched Xiao Bai's battle closely.

Songbao was anxious! He had finally found a poop scooper, and he didn't want to be a stray squirrel anymore! He wanted to run up to help Xiao Bai fight, but he didn't have the strength to light up.

Seeing Xiao Bai in danger, Song Bao could only keep "squeaking" to negotiate with Shu Ling, and kept taking out various snacks from the cheek pouches on his cheeks, using them as rewards to let Shu Ling go and save Xiao Bai!

Seeing the snacks piled up like a mountain in front of him, Shuling rolled his eyes. He was a Shuling, he didn't need to eat at all! He just ate snacks occasionally to taste them.
