Chapter 246 Why are you here?
The guard was pinned to the ground by several men, his face pressed against the cold concrete floor, and he kept cursing: "You crazy people! When the boss comes, you'll be in trouble!" His voice was filled with anger, but more of it was resentment and fear. His hands were handcuffed behind his back, and he couldn't move. He could only hold on with his mouth.
I squatted down and looked him in the eyes, trying to find a trace of hesitation in his eyes. His eyes were cloudy and fierce, like a trapped beast, ready to strike back at any time. I took a deep breath and tried to make my voice sound calm and firm: "Where are everyone's phones? Tell us, we won't embarrass you."
He sneered, "Dream on!" with disdain and provocation.
The uncle next to him had obviously lost his patience. He grabbed him by the collar, raised his fist high, and his eyes were full of anger: "Don't waste your time talking to him! People like him deserve to be punished!" As he said that, he was about to take action.
I quickly stopped the uncle and said in a low voice, "Don't be impulsive. We don't have time to waste." My eyes fell on the guard's face again, trying to find a flaw in his expression. Although his eyes were still fierce, there was a hint of uneasiness.
I slowed down my tone and tried to persuade him with reason: "You are also an employee, why do you have to risk your life for them? The police are on their way now. If you confess as soon as possible, you can be considered to have made a contribution. Then, not only can you get away with it, you may even get a bonus."
His eyes flickered for a moment, as if he was touched by my words. But soon, he straightened his neck again, and forcibly suppressed the slight hesitation, and his voice was still tough: "Don't give me that! I don't know anything!"
At this moment, I felt an invisible pressure approaching from a distance, as if some danger was approaching rapidly. I subconsciously raised my head and looked at the door of the warehouse, feeling a little uneasy. Time was running out, and I had to make a decision as soon as possible.
At the same time, in the monitoring room, the tour guide was staring at the screen with a livid face. He had just seen us subdue the guards, and he was so angry that he punched the table, causing the intercom on the table to jump up and the picture on the screen to shake slightly.
"Damn it!" The tour guide growled with gritted teeth, his eyes full of viciousness.
He grabbed the intercom and pressed the talk button, "Go to the warehouse right now! Don't let those guys get away!"
"Okay, boss." The voices of the thugs came from the other end of the walkie-talkie, with a hint of tension and obedience.
The tour guide put down the walkie-talkie, supported his hands on the table, stared at the screen, and muttered to himself: "I was really fooled by such a small number of people. I knew they were unreliable. I would not have left that place if I had known." His voice was full of regret and anger, as if he was blaming himself for negligence.
In the car, he suddenly raised his head, pointed at the front window, and cursed viciously: "A bunch of rubbish! Can't even keep an eye on a few people!"
At the warehouse, I felt an invisible pressure getting closer and closer, as if some danger was approaching rapidly.
My heart tightened, and I knew I couldn't delay any longer. I stood up and whispered to the uncle and aunt, "Hurry up and leave now, they will be here soon."
The uncle nodded and said in a low and hurried voice: "Be careful and don't force yourself."
I nodded and watched the uncle and aunt quickly leave the warehouse.
Before leaving, the aunt looked back at me, her eyes full of worry: "Then be careful." Her voice trembled a little.
I nodded and forced a smile: "Don't worry, I will be careful."
The auntie didn't say anything else. Just as she was about to walk out, the tour guide's voice came from a distance, "Don't run."
The footsteps were getting closer, accompanied by the muffled conversations of the thugs: "Hurry up, don't let them leave here!"
The original aunt was about to leave, but now she has retreated back.
I saw several burly thugs walking towards the warehouse, holding sticks and flashlights in their hands. Their faces were full of ferocity and their eyes were filled with murderous intent.
I held my breath and tried not to make any sound.
"What? Can we leave now?" a thug roared in a low voice with a hint of anxiety in his voice.
I took a deep breath and said, "Don't mess around. I can negotiate with you."
"How to talk?" the thugs roared, and their footsteps echoed in the warehouse.
The tour guide's face darkened instantly. He took a step forward, almost getting close to my face, and pointed at my nose and cursed, "Who do you think you are? How dare you reason with me here? Do you know that destroying someone's financial resources is like killing their parents? I'm telling you, none of you can leave today!"
"Sit down and talk."
The tour guide sneered, his eyes full of sarcasm: "What were you doing just now? Are you willing now?" He waved his hand violently and shouted at the thugs behind him: "Go! Let them know whose territory this is!"
The thugs rushed over immediately, and the scene fell into chaos. Although the passengers were afraid, they also gathered their courage when they saw me standing in front of them, and formed a circle around me to protect me. Some picked up stones from the ground, and some picked up sticks. Everyone huddled together, their eyes full of determination.
Upon seeing this, the tour guide yelled, "Beat him! Beat him to death!" His face looked very ferocious.
A thug wielded a wooden stick and hit the aunt fiercely. The aunt was so scared that her face turned pale and she stood there unable to move. I was quick-witted and rushed over without thinking, blocking the aunt with my body.
"Bang!" The wooden stick hit my back hard, making a dull sound. I groaned, my body trembled violently, and I almost fell to the ground, but I gritted my teeth and held on.
The auntie was so scared that she burst into tears and held me up: "Are you okay? Why are you so stupid!"
"It's okay... I just hope everyone is okay." It really hurt when the stick hit us.
Suddenly, a burst of urgent sirens sounded in the distance. His face turned pale in an instant, and he glared at me with gritted teeth: "Just wait!" After that, he and his thugs quickly fled the scene.
The passengers breathed a sigh of relief and gathered around me, looking at me with concern.
"We are... safe."
I passed out, and before I passed out I heard someone calling me, asking me to wake up.
"Momo, where are you?"
Jiang Yichen stepped into the crowd and saw me in the middle.
"what is going on."
He picked me up from the aunt's arms like a princess.
On the third day, I slowly opened my eyes and saw a dazzling scene in front of me. I blinked and my vision gradually became clear. I found myself lying on a hospital bed with an IV hanging on my hand.
I felt a sharp pain in my back and memories came flooding back - the chaos in the warehouse, the thugs' sticks, the tour guide's hideous face... and that loud muffled sound.
"Are you awake?" A familiar voice came from the side.
"Jiang, Jiang Yichen."
I turned my head and saw him sitting beside the bed, his eyes full of worry. My eyes turned red instantly and tears flowed uncontrollably.
My voice was a little hoarse and choked with sobs, and I said, "You...why are you here?"
