Chapter 366 Mom is Back

Chapter 366 Mom is Back

Xiao Huai threw herself into my arms: "I'm awake! Aunt Zhang said mom will be back early today, so I'll be waiting."

I touched her little head and felt warm in my heart. I went home early today.

"Madam is back." Aunt Zhang, the nanny, said softly, "Xiao Huai just finished his milk and is very energetic."

I put down my bag and tiptoed towards the baby room. When I opened the door, I saw Xiao Huai lying in the crib, waving his little arms and legs in the air. When he saw me come in, he immediately giggled.

"Baby," I leaned over and picked him up, "Mommy is back."

Six-month-old Xiao Huai can already recognize people. She stretched out her chubby little hands to grab my collar, babbling. I walked slowly around the room holding him, smelling the light milky fragrance on him, and the fatigue of the day seemed to dissipate.

"Madam," Aunt Zhang came in with a warm bottle of milk, "it's time to feed."

I took the bottle and sat down on the rocking chair. As soon as Xiao Huai saw the bottle, he opened his mouth eagerly. I gently put the nipple to his mouth and he immediately sucked hard.

"Have you been good today?" I asked softly.

Aunt Zhang smiled and said, "She's very well behaved. She just kept looking at the door after waking up in the afternoon, as if she was waiting for you to come back."

My heart warmed up, and I looked down at the little guy in my arms. His eyelashes were long and thick, and they trembled as he drank milk. He was so cute.

After feeding, I gently patted his back to help him burp. Xiao Huai burped contentedly, then leaned on my shoulder and played with my hair with his little hands.

"Madam," Aunt Zhang reminded softly, "You have to get up early tomorrow..."

I shook my head: "Hold me for a while longer."

The phone vibrated. It was a message from Jiang Yichen, "Wife, I'll be home in five minutes."

I replied: “Waiting for you at home.”

Putting down the phone, I continued to gently rock Xiao Huai in my arms. She gradually became sleepy, her little head nodding, but her little hands still tightly grasped the corner of my clothes.

"Go to sleep, baby," I whispered, "Mommy is here."

Finally, Xiao Huai fell asleep. I carefully put him in the crib and covered him with a small blanket. Looking at his peaceful sleeping face, I couldn't help but kiss him gently on the forehead.

After leaving the nursery, I looked in the direction of the study. There were still documents piled up on the table waiting to be processed, but at this moment, I just wanted to enjoy this rare parent-child time.

"Aunt Zhang," I said softly, "I'll keep watch tonight."

"But..."

"It's okay," I smiled, "I want to spend more time with her."

Just as I was humming a lullaby, the door was gently pushed open. Jiang Yichen was standing at the door, his suit jacket draped over his arm and his tie slightly loosened. It was obvious that he had just returned from a social event.

"Are you still awake?" he asked in a low voice.

I made a gesture to silence him and pointed at Xiao Huai who was sleeping soundly in the crib. Jiang Yichen came over quietly and leaned over to look at our child, his eyes so gentle that they could drip tears.

"Why are you here so early today?" he asked softly.

"I want to spend more time with Xiao Huai." I answered softly.

Jiang Yichen sat down beside me and reached out to gently touch Xiao Huai's face. The little guy moved in his sleep and his little hand unconsciously grasped his father's finger.

"I'll take you to the company tomorrow," Jiang Yichen said, "Let Xiaohuai sleep a little longer."

I leaned on his shoulder, feeling this rare tranquility.

As the night deepened, moonlight shone through the gaps in the curtains, casting mottled shadows on the floor of the baby's room. Jiang Yichen's hand was still on Xiao Huai's face. The little guy rubbed his father's palm unconsciously in his sleep and uttered a few vague mumblings.

"Momo," Jiang Yichen suddenly spoke in a low voice, "I have something to tell you."

I looked up and saw his brows slightly frowned in the moonlight, and suddenly I had a bad feeling in my heart.

"I'm ready to cooperate with Zhao Xing," he said.

I sat up straight abruptly: "Zhao Xing? The Mr. Zhao from last time?"

Jiang Yichen nodded, his fingers unconsciously stroking the railing of Xiao Huai's crib: "He has a piece of land in a good location, which is very suitable for the development of our new project."

"But..." I hesitated, "Why is it so sudden?"

Jiang Yichen's lips curled up into a sneer: "Yes, I also found out that he has some relationship with Lin Qing. They have been in frequent contact recently, and..." He took out his mobile phone and pulled out a file, "Look at this."

I took the phone and saw a fund flow chart on the screen. Zhao Xing's company had recently received several large sums of money transferred in, all from overseas accounts, and the recipient was a shell company under Lin Qing's name.

"Are they laundering money?" I exclaimed in a low voice.

"More than that," Jiang Yichen took back his phone, "I suspect they are setting up a big scheme. Lin Qing suffered a loss at your hands last time, and this time they want to use Zhao Xing to get revenge."

I subconsciously hugged Xiao Huai tightly in my arms. The little guy seemed to feel my nervousness and moved restlessly in his sleep. Jiang Yichen reached out and gently patted his back, and Xiao Huai calmed down again.

"So you want to cooperate with Zhao Xing?" I frowned and asked, "Isn't this jumping into the fire pit?"

Jiang Yichen's eyes flashed with a gleam of light: "If you don't learn the tiger's training, how can you get the tiger cub? I have already planted spies in Zhao Xing's company. As long as they dare to take action, we will be able to catch them."

I looked at his confident look and suddenly understood something: "Are you trying to... take advantage of my opponent's trick?"

"That's right," Jiang Yichen gently held my hand, "but this is very dangerous. Lin Qing and Zhao Xing are not easy to deal with. I'm worried that they will attack you and Xiao Huai."

I looked down at Xiao Huai who was sleeping in my arms. There was a sweet smile on his pink little face, completely unaware of how dangerous the world outside was.

"I'll be careful," I whispered, "but you have to promise me that you'll protect yourself."

Jiang Yichen reached out and held me in his arms, his chin gently resting on the top of my head: "Don't worry, for you, I will be fine."

We just snuggled together quietly, with Xiao Huai beside us.

"Oh, right," Jiang Yichen suddenly remembered something, "I asked Lin Nan to arrange a few bodyguards to secretly protect you and Xiao Huai starting tomorrow. On the surface, they will say they are new drivers and nannies."

I nodded. "Okay."

"Also," his voice suddenly became serious, "Try not to go out alone recently, especially when meeting clients. Lin Qing knows that you care about Xiao Huai the most, and I'm worried that she will..."

I understand what he didn't say. Business is like a battlefield, and some people will do anything to gain benefits.

"I understand," I said quietly, "I'll pay attention."

Jiang Yichen lowered his head and kissed me lightly on the forehead: "Go to sleep, you have to get up early tomorrow."
