Chapter 248 Interview
A few days later, the doctor finally announced that I could be discharged from the hospital.
I was so happy to hear the news that I almost jumped out of bed - of course, my back injury made me sit still. While I was packing my things, I was thinking about how to sneak back home quietly, after all, I didn't want to be scolded by my grandma again.
Just as I was happily thinking about leaving by myself, my cell phone rang. It was Jiang Yichen calling.
"Hello?" I answered the phone with a cheerful tone.
"You're being discharged from the hospital today, right?" His voice was as low as always, but it sounded a little serious.
"Yes! I was just about to go back by myself, so no need to trouble you."
I said with a smile, already thinking about how to avoid everyone's sight.
"Don't think about it." He interrupted my fantasy directly, "The hospital downstairs is full of reporters waiting to interview you."
"What? A reporter?" I was stunned and stopped what I was doing. "Interview me? Why?"
"Have you forgotten? You are the protagonist of this incident." There was a hint of helplessness in his tone. "The news has been reporting this for several days. Everyone wants to know how you bravely stood up to the black-hearted travel agency."
I suddenly felt a headache and couldn't help holding my forehead. "Oh my God... I don't want to be surrounded by reporters asking questions."
"So," he paused, a hint of pride in his tone, "I've arranged it. I'll pick you up later, and we'll go out the back door to avoid the reporters."
I breathed a sigh of relief, and felt warm in my heart for his thoughtfulness: "Okay, I'll listen to you."
After hanging up the phone, I quickly packed up the rest of my things and sat by the bed waiting for him. Not long after, he pushed the door open, wearing a low-key black windbreaker, a hat and a pair of sunglasses in his hands.
"Are you taking me to shoot a spy movie?" I couldn't help but tease him.
He raised an eyebrow and handed me the hat and sunglasses: "Put them on so no one can recognize you."
I did as I was told, put on my hat, and put my sunglasses on my nose. He looked me up and down and nodded: "It's OK, I can just get by."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes. "What do you mean by 'barely'? With my temperament, I must be an agent level, right?"
He chuckled and didn't respond to my words. Instead, he reached out and grabbed my wrist: "Let's go, stop talking nonsense."
We both quietly slipped out of the ward like thieves and walked along the corridor to the back door. Along the way, I couldn't help looking around, afraid of being recognized. He looked calm, as if this kind of thing was a common occurrence for him.
"Why didn't I notice you were like this before?" I asked him in a low voice.
He glanced at me, and the corners of his mouth slightly raised: "Don't you realize it now?"
I curled my lips and said nothing. When we reached the back door, he first looked out, and after confirming that no one was there, he pulled me out quickly.
There was a black car parked outside. He opened the door and motioned for me to get in. I got in and breathed a sigh of relief: "I finally escaped!"
He got into the driver's seat, started the car, and said in a relaxed tone: "How is it?"
I couldn't help but laugh, took off my sunglasses and hat, and turned to look at him: "Yes, Agent Jiang, I will rely on you from now on."
He smiled and said nothing more, just concentrating on driving. I leaned back in my seat, watching the scenery passing by outside the window, and felt relieved.
"You'll be able to see grandma soon."
"Grandma, ah, I almost forgot."
Along the way, I chatted with the man and soon we arrived home.
As soon as the door opened, grandma came hurriedly, her face full of worry.
She grabbed my hand, looked me up and down, and asked anxiously, "How are you? Does the injury still hurt? What did the doctor say? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
I smiled and turned around, trying to reassure her: "Grandma, I'm fine! Look, I'm alive and kicking, there's nothing wrong with me!"
When my grandmother saw me like this, her face immediately darkened: "How can you be so worrying, kid? Is that dangerous something you should do? What should I do if something happens to you?"
I tried to ease the atmosphere: "Grandma, I had no choice at the time... I couldn't just watch everyone get into trouble, right?"
Grandma glared at me and said sternly, "What do you mean there is no way? Is there anything you can't tell him?" She pointed at Jiang Yichen who was standing beside her and continued, "At worst, ask him to send a few men to do it! You are a girl, why are you trying to be so strong?"
I couldn't help but laugh and winked mischievously: "Grandma, how can I have subordinates? I can only do this kind of thing by myself!"
When grandma heard this, she immediately turned to look at Jiang Yichen and said in a tone that did not allow for rebuttal: "You, quickly arrange for ten or eight subordinates for her! In the future, don't let her do this kind of thing in person!"
Jiang Yichen shrugged and looked at me helplessly: "I wanted to arrange it a long time ago, but she didn't agree."
I quickly waved my hands: "No, no, no, I don't need any men, it's too much trouble!"
Grandma refused to give in and said firmly: "There is no room for negotiation! If you dare to take risks alone again, I will lock you up at home and you will not be allowed to go anywhere!"
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so I could only nod and agree: "Okay, okay, I'll listen to you, okay?"
Grandma nodded in satisfaction and turned to the kitchen. "Okay, you guys take a rest first. I'll go see if the food is ready. I've prepared a table of delicious food tonight to celebrate your survival!"
I followed my grandmother into the dining room and saw the table was filled with delicious dishes, the aroma was fragrant. Father Jiang was sitting at the table, and when he saw me come in, he smiled politely and said, "I'm glad you're back. You have to be more careful next time."
I nodded and was about to speak when I heard the aunt muttering beside me: "Humph, you act like a hero, but you only caused trouble yourself..."
When grandma heard this, she immediately frowned and glared at the aunt: "What are you talking about? If it weren't for her, those people would have killed so many people! If you can't speak, just shut up and eat!"
After being scolded by grandma, the aunt's face suddenly turned ugly, but she didn't dare to say anything else and could only lower her head.
Jiang Yichen sat next to me, picked up a piece of braised pork and put it in my bowl, and whispered, "Eat more to replenish your body."
I smiled and nodded, feeling very at ease.
The next day, I returned to my studio and just as I walked downstairs, I saw a group of people gathered there. At first I thought it was some internet celebrity filming a video, but when I got closer, I found that it was a group of reporters holding microphones and cameras.
My heart tightened, and I was about to turn around and run away, but it was too late. A sharp-eyed reporter spotted me and immediately shouted, "She's there!" In an instant, everyone rushed over like a tide and surrounded me.
"May I ask what you think about this incident?"
"How did you find out there was something wrong with that tour group?"
"Can you tell me which hotel it is? Do you have any inside information?"
I stood there, a little dazed, the microphone almost poking me in the face, the camera flash blinding me.
I know I won’t be able to leave today.
Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself down, then replied with a smile: "Don't worry, I'll answer you one by one."
When the reporters quieted down a bit, but their eyes were still eager, I cleared my throat and began to explain: "My friend and I discovered the tour group by chance. We noticed that their itinerary was unreasonable and the price was ridiculously low, so we paid more attention to it. As for the name of the hotel, it is not convenient to disclose it at the moment because the police are still investigating."
A reporter immediately asked, "Do you have inside information? Otherwise, how could you find out that they have problems by chance?"
I shook my head and said calmly, "There is no inside information. As a consumer, I am more sensitive to this kind of low-price trap. I hope that everyone will be more careful when choosing a tour group in the future and not be greedy for cheapness."
Another reporter stepped forward and asked, "Are you planning to do live broadcasts to fight against counterfeiting in the future? After all, this incident has made you a 'counterfeiting hero' in the hearts of many people."
I smiled and said politely, "Well, I'm still considering it. I can't comment for now, but if my efforts can help more people avoid being cheated, I'll be happy to do it."
As soon as I entered the company, I saw Xu Sisi and Xiao Tiantian waiting for me at the door: "Momo, are you okay? I'm really worried about you."
Xiao Tiantian spoke first, and Xu Sisi also took me around.
"It's all right."
"I'm glad you're okay."
Xiao Tiantian pulled me aside and wanted to have a good time with me.
“How is the company now?”
"The traffic is very good now, and they are all sliced by black-hearted travel agencies. We can move towards fighting them."
I told Sisi that she should keep a low profile now, otherwise you will also be a threat.
Xu Sisi told me seriously, "What's the danger? Traffic is also important."
I didn't say anything.
"Really?"
I answered Sisi simply: "No."
After a while, Sisi agreed with my idea.
