Chapter 110: Taking Charge
"If it weren't for you, how could Yichen be missing now?"
She slapped him so hard, as if she had used all her strength.
She hit me so hard that I took a few steps back and my ears started buzzing.
Without giving me a chance to speak, someone came to report to Lin Nan in an urgent tone.
"Assistant Lin, the news of President Jiang's death has been leaked. Now the company needs you to take charge of the situation."
Things suddenly turned out like this, and Lin Nan had no choice but to go back to the company to handle matters first.
Even though the rescue team said Jiang Yichen's chance of survival was very small, I was unwilling to give up.
Ignoring the dissuasion, I drove a small boat alone and searched for Jiang Yichen in the vast ocean.
But the sea was dead silent, and there was no sign of anyone.
I became more and more anxious and looked around for the crash site.
Finally, I found Jiang Yichen’s clothes on a small reef nearby.
I thought it was Jiang Yichen, so I quickly drove the boat over.
But unexpectedly, it was just one of his coats hanging there.
I bent down and tried to pick up the clothes, but suddenly a wave came and overturned the boat.
I fell into the water, and when I woke up again, the scene in front of me had turned into an isolated island.
I tried looking around, trying to find a way to contact the outside world.
But a familiar voice suddenly appeared behind me.
"Don't look for it anymore. Now we can only leave after the rescue team shows up."
When I saw Jiang Yichen appear, I finally felt relieved.
Fortunately he is fine.
Seeing him approaching me, I excitedly got up from the ground and rushed towards him regardless of the dirt on my body.
"That's great, Jiang Yichen, you're still alive."
When Jiang Yichen saw me doing this, he pushed me away with disgust, with a hint of strangeness in his tone.
"Don't touch me. Every time I touch you, you'll be in trouble."
I looked at him and smiled, not taking his words to heart at all.
As long as I'm sure he's okay, it doesn't matter if I'm afraid he'll say something bad about me.
After all, he put himself in such danger just to save me.
"Okay, now we are the only two on this isolated island. Go pick up some branches, otherwise it will be cold at night."
When I heard his words, I immediately became serious and agreed repeatedly.
"I see. I'll go there later."
After replying, I walked towards the woods not far away. There were not many branches to pick up outside the woods, most of them were damp and rotten.
In desperation, I had to go deeper.
After I had almost finished trimming the branches, I decided to go back.
But what I didn't expect was that I suddenly stepped into a pit, and it was worse.
There was a trap underneath.
A piercing pain came from my ankle. My face was distorted in pain. I raised my voice and asked Jiang Yichen outside for help.
Fortunately, he heard my voice and hurried over.
Seeing the blood on my ankle, he frowned immediately.
Almost without any thought, he used his bare hands to pry open the trap, then tore off his clothes and bandaged me with the cloth.
I endured the pain and tried not to make any sound, but the tears kept falling from the corners of my eyes.
Jiang Yichen took me out of the woods and carefully analyzed the current situation.
"That trap looks like it was set not long ago. Since there is a trap, it proves that someone has been to this deserted island, or someone lives there." At first he supported me, but my injured foot made me walk too slowly.
When I left, my wound was agitated and blood was still flowing out.
The cloth that Jiang Yichen used to wrap me was soon stained with blood.
Noticing that I was walking slower and slower, he simply squatted in front of me and said in a deep voice.
"Come up, I'll carry you out."
I felt a little embarrassed seeing him like this.
When I hesitated, Jiang Yichen lowered his voice a little, as if mocking me.
"You've been giving me a hard time before, and I've never seen you feel embarrassed."
His words choked me.
It's getting late now, and any further delay will not be good for us.
I stopped struggling and just lay on his back obediently.
When he carried me on his back, I could feel his burning body temperature.
For some reason, my heart is beating especially fast at this moment.
Jiang Yichen carried me to a small house.
The house is not big and is a bit drafty on all four sides, but fortunately there are basic daily necessities inside.
It looks like a temporary residence for the islanders.
Although the facilities were very simple, at least we could spend the night safely.
That's enough for us.
Jiang Yichen went out again and picked up the branches that I didn’t bring back.
Watching Jiang Yichen trying to make a fire, I felt so much emotion and couldn't help but express my gratitude.
"Jiang Yichen, thank you for saving me."
After hearing what I said, Jiang Yichen paused for a few seconds, then quickly returned to normal, and then his cold voice rang out.
"Gu Mo, don't be so self-indulgent. Today, even if it's just a cat or a dog, I will save it."
Hearing this, my eyes dimmed a little, and I felt an indescribable bitterness in my heart.
Even so, it is a fact that he saved me.
I tried my best to suppress my emotions and thanked him sincerely again.
"Even so, I still want to thank you."
Jiang Yichen ignored me and just lit the fire silently.
He gave me his bed and curled himself up beside the fire.
The two of us spent the night in the small room.
In the middle of the night, I heard a series of miserable noises.
I was awakened by the sound and sat up, trying to figure out the source of the sound.
It sounded like an animal's cry, like the sound of someone screaming at the top of their lungs.
Seeing that Jiang Yichen was sleeping soundly, I felt embarrassed to wake him up, so I could only try to get out of bed by myself.
Even though I was extra careful, some noise still occurred.
When the voice sounded, Jiang Yichen opened his eyes instantly and looked around vigilantly.
Seeing my actions, he sat up, looked at me and asked.
"What are you going to do?"
I didn't answer him, but asked back softly.
"Jiang Yichen, did you hear any sound?"
Jiang Yichen was silent for two seconds, then got up from the ground and spoke.
"I'm going to go out and take a look, don't move."
Having said that, he went out.
Not long after, he came back with a little wolf in his arms.
The little wolf had an injured leg and was howling non-stop.
Jiang Yichen held the little wolf and sat back by the fire, tearing off some of his clothes to bandage the little wolf.
His movements were gentle and even more careful than when he bandaged me.
I watched quietly on the bed, and couldn't help thinking in my heart.
It turned out that I was overthinking at the beginning.
In his mind, I am no different from these animals.
I thought, at least I was different.
He fell asleep again only after he had treated the little wolf's wound.
The next morning, I was woken up by the cold.
I don't know when the fire went out, and now the whole little room is freezing cold.
I wrapped the quilt tighter and subconsciously looked in the direction of the fire.
I found that Jiang Yichen was no longer in the house and I don’t know where he is now.
The little wolf I brought back last night also curled up with me.
Just then, Jiang Yichen came back holding a bunch of branches.
