Chapter 87 Are you sure this isn't inappropriate for children?

Almost simultaneously, Mu Cenlin suddenly stood up from behind his desk!

Without even needing to think about it, he immediately knew where it came from and who was behind it!

"Li, Bao, Er!" He practically squeezed the three words out through clenched teeth, his voice filled with anger and a hint of helplessness.

He shoved aside the chair blocking his way, his dark robes billowing in a cold wind, and strode out of the study, heading quickly toward his private bath in the courtyard.

The guards and servants along the way saw that the prince's face was ashen and he was emanating a more terrifying aura than usual. They were so frightened that they knelt down and lowered their heads, not daring to look him in the eye.

"Bang!"

The heavy wooden door to the private bathroom was kicked open from the outside, the loud noise echoing in the misty space, making the petals on the water's surface tremble!

The rising heat and rich floral fragrance were so intense that it was almost suffocating.

Mu Cenlin's gaze instantly locked onto the center of the bathtub, where the "culprit" was submerged underwater, leaving only her long hair spread out like seaweed and floating flower petals!

As if to prevent anyone from scooping her up in one go, she sank to the very center of the bathtub.

Without a second thought, Mu Cenlin took off his outer robe, stepped into the pool, leaned down, and plunged his arm into the scalding water. He precisely grabbed the smooth, delicate arm underwater and pulled hard!

"Splash!"

Caught off guard, Li Bao'er was suddenly pulled out of the water by a tremendous force!

Water droplets splashed everywhere, soaking her to the bone. Her long, black hair clung messily to her rosy cheeks and neck, making her skin appear even more like jade. But the girl in his arms had her eyes tightly closed. Mu Cenlin's heart clenched. A hint of panic, which he himself did not notice, flashed across his eyes. Almost instinctively, he supported her limp neck and lowered his head to cover her soft lips with his.

Perhaps because of the chaotic and hazy atmosphere, Mu Cenlin ignored a strong sense of panic.

His warm breath touched hers, and his movements were even somewhat rough. The moment their lips met, an indescribable tremor struck him first. Her lips seemed to possess a bewitching magic, causing him to lose his senses for a moment.

Bao'er was shocked. She felt warm breath coming from the other end, but she didn't dare to open her eyes. He must have misunderstood that she was drowning. Would he scold her if she opened her eyes now?

But how long was he planning to kiss her...? Her legs were getting weaker and weaker, she couldn't keep up the act anymore... Forget it! She'd stop pretending.

Mu Cenlin keenly sensed the person beneath him and paused stiffly for a moment.

Mu Cenlin suddenly opened his eyes.

What met his eyes was another pair of eyes that had just opened, wet and filled with guilt.

She wasn't completely unconscious at all?

Their eyes met, and the air froze instantly. He even maintained the position of leaning over her, his lips pressed against hers.

Mu Cenlin's pupils contracted slightly, and the panic in his eyes was instantly replaced by coldness. He slowly raised his head, a faint, ambiguous silver thread forming as his lips parted, but his gaze was frighteningly cold.

He stared at her, his voice low and menacing, each word seeming to have been pulled from an icebox:

“Li, Bao, Er”.

"You...were...pretending?"

Almost instantly, Mu Cenlin was certain that Li Bao'er was indeed deliberately submerged in the water, because she was still wearing a gauze dress. Who would put on clothes while taking a bath?

Li Bao'er shivered at the chill in his eyes, but stubbornly refused to look away. Her heart pounded like a drum, and the lingering scent of his domineering breath still burned and tingled on her lips.

Hearing his question, she decided to throw caution to the wind, glaring at him with her wet eyes, a hint of barely perceptible grievance and resentment in her voice: "I was practicing holding my breath. You misunderstood, it's not my fault."

She abruptly turned her face away, refusing to meet his intimidating gaze. Her tone was sharp and sarcastic, filled with obvious resentment: "What are you doing here? Your old flame has woken up, aren't you going to visit her? You're wasting your time here. Aren't you afraid she'll get impatient and misunderstand?"

"Heh." A deep, hoarse laugh escaped Mu Cen's throat. He was actually amused by her twisted logic and undisguised sourness.

A faint hint of amusement flickered in his cold eyes. He leaned closer, his fingertips touching her dripping chin. His voice was deep and carried an all-encompassing pressure: "Who told you that Qingluan is my 'old flame'?"

His gaze locked onto her flickering eyes, not missing a single subtle change in her expression, a cruel smile curving his lips: "Li Bao'er, you've gone through all this trouble, soaking yourself in this scalding hot water..."

"So," he paused, "you're jealous?"

Li Bao'er was like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, her fur standing on end instantly, her cheeks flushed with an unnatural redness from excitement and the heat of the pool.

"Jealous? Your Highness overestimates yourself!" Her voice suddenly rose, trying to use bluster to cover up the panic that had been exposed inside. "Why should I be jealous? You can allow whoever you want to enter the manor, and see whoever you want. What does it have to do with me?"

She struggled to break free from his hold, but her body was too weak; she was merely thrashing about helplessly within his presence.

"I just... I just thought it was too stuffy in that room! I wanted to find a quiet place to practice my breath-holding skills, so I wouldn't be helpless when someone throws me into the water again!" The more she spoke, the more justified she felt, but her eyes darted around, and she couldn't meet his gaze at all. "Who told you to suddenly barge in, and... and..."

The words "kiss me" stuck in her throat, burning her so much that she couldn't speak. She could only glare at him fiercely, as if it were all his fault.

"Yes, it is my fault."

Before Li Bao'er could understand what he meant, she felt a large, dark robe with a chilling aura suddenly fall over her, covering her completely from head to toe and blocking out the dizzying floral fragrance and scorching moisture.

The next second, she was lifted up horizontally in his arms!

"Mu Cenlin! Let me go!" Li Bao'er struggled, her wet hair sticking to her cheeks, water droplets dripping down, as she pounded on his chest through the fabric.

Mu Cenlin completely ignored her struggles, his arms holding her as firmly as iron clamps, and strode out with her in his arms.

"What's wrong with you?! Let me go!" Li Bao'er was confused by him and struggled even more fiercely.

Mu Cenlin abruptly stopped, lowered his head, and said in a hoarse voice:

"From now on, if you're jealous, just come to me directly. Don't use such hot water and sprinkle all this nonsense on yourself. It's bad for your health to drown yourself in the water."

"You will be in pain, and so will I."

Li Bao'er was stunned by his words. Looking at his face so close to hers and the tenderness in his eyes, she momentarily forgot to struggle.

Mu Cenlin didn't give her time to think. He picked her up and strode away from the place, heading straight for the main bedroom.
