Chapter 1013 Side Story: Evening in the City (76)

"Mr. Xiao, you..."

"This salmon is good, give me another serving!"

Wu An'an was so choked up that she couldn't say a word.

Rachel rolled her eyes and looked at Xiao Liran with feigned seriousness, "President Xiao, what Editor-in-Chief Wu just said is right, how should you deal with that vixen!"

"Oh!" Xiao Liran exclaimed, as if suddenly realizing something. "Yes, yes, how should I deal with this?"

"Mr. Xiao, all you need to do is..."

Wu An'an leaned closer to her and explained the plan. At this moment, she was also wondering to herself—this Xiao Liran seemed shrewd, but how come she spoke and acted like a fool?

Even her assistant wasn't much smarter than her. The two of them sat at the table thinking only about how to eat, not about anything else!

However, Xiao Liran's strength should not be underestimated.

Wu An'an could only endure it for a while, patiently explaining her plan again and again.

“So,” Xiao Liran glanced at her, “you want me to awaken her memories, to make her remember how Lin Zhaojiang treated her before, and then plunge her into despair?”

"Yes! Yes!" Wu An'an was overjoyed; this person had finally understood!

"Okay, I understand."

"Mr. Xiao, you..."

"It's just this matter, leave it to me."

Wu An'an smiled so hard her eyes were almost closed, and she quickly asked if she was satisfied with today's meal. Then she ran to find the waiter and asked for a few more special dishes.

While Wu An'an was away, Rachel quietly asked Xiao Liran, "President Xiao, are you really going to listen to her?"

"Huh? Listen to what she said?" Xiao Liran feigned ignorance. "She said this restaurant is good? Indeed, she's right, the food here is quite delicious! I haven't been back for years, and I'm tired of eating foreign food!"

"Oh, Mr. Xiao!"

"Hahaha..." Xiao Liran laughed, patting Rachel's head, "Do you think I'm stupid? Why should I listen to her!"

"Then you..."

"Lin Zhaojiang and I never clicked. We were only married in name only. Who he's with now is none of my business. Why should I bother with a young girl? Besides, I should wish Lin Zhaojiang well if he finds true love!"

"President Xiao!" Rachel exclaimed with admiration, "You're absolutely right! Your magnanimity and vision truly make you a heroine, a true heroine..."

"Stop, stop!" Xiao Liran was most afraid of this kind of praise that gave her goosebumps. "Hurry up and eat!"

"Um!"

"Wu An'an is paying today, eat more..."

After eating and drinking their fill, Xiao Liran and Rachel stood contentedly at the hotel entrance.

After paying the bill, Wu An'an's expression wasn't very good, but when she got to Xiao Liran, she still forced a smile.

"Thank you so much, Editor-in-Chief Wu!" Xiao Liran patted her on the shoulder. "We drove here ourselves, no need to see us off. Until we meet again!"

"Why……"

Wu An'an quickly stopped her.

"Mr. Xiao," she said with a forced smile, "has Mr. Xiao... forgotten something?"

"Hmm? What is it?"

"It's the one I mentioned to you during dinner!"

Xiao Liran curled her lips slightly, looking at Wu An'an's anxious and flustered appearance, which she found amusing.

So she deliberately dragged out her words: "Oh—that thing!"

"Yes, yes... Mr. Xiao, you will definitely take action, right?"

"I know you care a lot about your boss, Mr. Lin!" Xiao Liran smiled meaningfully. "Everything you've done is for Lin Zhaojiang! You can't find someone as loyal as you even with a lantern! Don't worry, I will definitely treat you well after this is done!"

Wu An'an's eyes lit up, and in her excitement, she grabbed Xiao Liran's hand.

Xiao Liran broke free, shook herself off, and her eyes showed some displeasure, but she still forced a smile on her face.

"Mr. Xiao, I'm glad you understand my good intentions! Everything I've done isn't just for Mr. Lin, but for both of you! You two are a match made in heaven!"

"Yes, yes, thank you!"

"President Xiao, I also have something to tell you..." Wu An'an leaned close to her ear and said, word by word, "That Song Wan, she should be staying at the Zhonglin Hotel, in President Lin's suite!"

*

A few days later, Xiao Liran and Rachel arrived at the coffee shop on the first floor of the Zhonglin Hotel.

Both women, dressed in suits, top hats, and sunglasses, gracefully entered the hotel lobby. However, Rachel seemed somewhat reserved, staying close to Xiao Liran and frequently taking off her sunglasses to look around.

"Stop acting like you've never seen the world before, okay?"

"Mr. Xiao, I'm just afraid... that Miss Song will see us!"

"Are you stupid? Does Miss Song even know what we look like?"

"Well……"

Xiao Liran shook her head and pulled Rachel into the coffee shop.

She came today with a degree of curiosity to see Song Wan. Firstly, she wanted to know what kind of woman could have conquered Lin Zhaojiang; secondly, if she could strike up a conversation with Song Wan, she wanted to warn the girl to stay away from Wu An'an.

"Mr. Xiao, what's our next step?"

“Hmm…” Xiao Liran frowned. Wu An’an had told her that Song Wan would sit in this coffee shop every morning to study or write.

But with so many people here, she can't possibly ask them one by one, can she?

Xiao Liran decided to go all out, stood at the front desk, pointed at the coffee on the menu, and loudly proclaimed that she didn't know how to order.

The waiter walked over, and Xiao Liran spoke fluent English while gesturing wildly.

Until everyone in the coffee shop was focused on her and Rachel.

Rachel covered her face with her hands, secretly lamenting how she had ended up working for such a leader.

But Xiao Liran found those clear and pure eyes among all those gazes.

Her intuition told her that it was Song Wan!

Just then, Song Wan quietly got up and went to the front desk. She first communicated with Xiao Liran in English, and then ordered coffee for her and Rachel.

The waiters all recognized the room card she showed and treated her with utmost respect.

"There are no seats here," Xiao Liran said, looking at her. "Can we share a table with you?"

Song Wan sat at a window seat in the coffee shop. It was a separate table, some distance away from the other tables, surrounded by green plants, making it look like a small, private space.

The waiter knew Song Wan's identity and was about to stop her, but Song Wan said, "No problem."

"That's wonderful!" Xiao Liran was so happy that she stopped speaking English and looked at Song Wan with a beaming smile. "Then, would you please lead the way?"

"You..." Song Wan was taken aback, "You can speak Chinese?"

Xiao Liran chuckled, turned around and instructed the waiter, "The beans for hand-drip coffee should be dark roasted, and the water temperature should not exceed 70 degrees Celsius. Also, give me a serving of low-sugar cookies!"

"You..." Song Wan was even more surprised, "Don't you know how to order coffee?"

"Yes! I already know how."

"Then what you just did..."

Xiao Liran blinked and smiled, "If I hadn't done that, how could I have shared a table with you?"
