"Oh, it's...it's Mr. Lin!" Song Huai wiped his hands on his clothes and smiled obsequiously. "I didn't expect to meet you again. How have you been?"
Lin Zhaojiang looked at his outstretched hand, his face growing increasingly grim.
Song Wan patted Song Huai and whispered, "Brother, what nonsense are you talking about!"
Song Huai smiled and quickly corrected himself, "Oh, I misspoke... Heh, I've had a bit too much to drink, and I'm not quite sober right now. Little sister, what do you want for lunch?"
Song Wanbai glanced at him, somewhat annoyed.
"Zhaojiang ate lunch at home, and I went to help my mom and sister."
"Sure, sure!" Song Huai hurriedly pushed her towards the kitchen. "Then hurry up and make me some pork ribs! Your brother has been overworking lately and needs to nourish himself!"
“You…” Song Wan glared at him, worried that he would say something inappropriate.
"Don't worry, don't worry!" Song Huai chuckled and whispered, "I'm going out for a smoke. I promise I won't talk to your Mr. Lin, okay?"
Song Wan glanced at Lin Zhaojiang.
The man, who had just had a dark expression, softened and gave her a reassuring look when they met her eyes.
Song Wan turned and went into the kitchen.
Lin Zhaojiang glanced at Song Huai; this man was like a stubborn plaster that couldn't be shaken off, utterly disgusting.
“Smoking and drinking won’t do you any good for your condition.” Lin Zhaojiang’s eyes were deep, a half-smile playing on his lips. “You’re not still hoping Wanwan will save you again, are you?”
Song Huai paused for a moment, then grinned indifferently.
Song Wan had only followed Lin Zhaojiang because of his illness and the enormous medical expenses. She had been by Lin Zhaojiang's side for three years, and Song Huai's medication had never stopped, always the best imported drugs.
The entire Song family had received tangible benefits from Song Wan, yet not a single person had asked her how she was doing.
No one worried that she wouldn't be able to handle being around Lin Zhaojiang.
Even now, Song Huai still feels that it is only natural for his two younger sisters to support him.
"Heh, if my little sister were to die, my mother would be the first to object!" Song Huai said smugly. "Mr. Lin, if you really had no feelings for our Wanwan, you wouldn't be here today."
Lin Zhaojiang clenched his fist slightly.
“So…” Song Huai leaned closer to him and whispered, “I’m a little short on cash lately, could President Lin…”
Lin Zhaojiang raised his eyes, a dark cloud swirling in his deep gaze, like an impending storm under the night sky.
Song Huai didn't seem to care. "I know my mom and Xiao Xi are afraid of you... but I'm not! Heh, with Wanwan as my trump card, what do I have to be afraid of?"
"Is that so?" Lin Zhaojiang sneered. "She's your trump card because you have her in your hands, but if she's no longer in your hands, what trump card do you have left?"
"You want her to leave our house?"
"That won't be necessary." He gave him a cold look. "I'll just make you disappear."
Song Huai froze, a chill running down his spine.
"You...you wouldn't do that." He forced himself to stay calm. "Ha, my sister carried your child, you can't be so heartless, can you?"
Lin Zhaojiang remained silent, but his eyes grew increasingly sharp.
Song Huai was well aware that the Lin family had always held absolute power in the vast Yun City. With just a word from Lin Zhaojiang, making him disappear would be easier than crushing an ant.
But Song Huai didn't believe he would do that.
He will consider Song Wan's feelings and won't go so far as to kill her... after all, he feels guilty towards Song Wan.
“Mr. Lin…” Song Huai bit his lip, the smile on his lips becoming even more sinister and malicious, “You still remember that child, don’t you?”
Do you know where your child is buried?
“You…” Lin Zhaojiang gritted his teeth and glared at him fiercely.
Song Huai grinned, knowing that hitting him where it hurt the most. "My sister was five months pregnant back then, and you had someone force her to almost lose her life! A five-month-old fetus was forcibly aborted!"
"It wasn't me!" Lin Zhaojiang's voice was low, veins bulging on his forehead, as he clenched each word, "I didn't force her!"
"So what happened back then was an accident? Can you say you had nothing to do with it?"
Lin Zhaojiang moved his lips, but couldn't utter a single word.
When Song Wan was pregnant, he was indeed cold and told her to get rid of the child as soon as possible.
But later, Song Wan insisted on giving birth to the child and tried every means to escape from his side. She lived in hiding in a place with harsh conditions and finally raised the fetus to five months old.
She thought everything was stable, but then a few people appeared, claiming to be on Mr. Lin's orders to take her back and abort the child.
During the argument with those people, Song Wan lost her footing and fell from a height...
When Lin Zhaojiang saw her again, she was lying in the emergency room, her life hanging by a thread.
He also investigated those people, but they disappeared as if they had vanished into thin air. There was no surveillance footage at the scene, and it remains an unsolved mystery to this day.
After losing her child, Song Wan was in a daze, and Lin Zhaojiang finally realized his feelings for her, filled with remorse.
Later, Song Wan lost her memory and went to Yangcheng...
And so it has continued until now.
Lin Zhaojiang suddenly looked up at Song Huai, his gaze as cold as a knife.
"Heh..." Song Huai gave a forced smile, a chill creeping into his heart. "Mr. Lin... if you can resolve this little problem I'm facing, I'll take you to see that child right away..."
"Do you know what? It's a girl! Wanwan said that daughters are sweet, and she wanted to give you a little princess!"
Lin Zhaojiang's clenched fist trembled slightly. "Don't say anything more..."
“I accompanied Wanwan to her prenatal checkups while she was hiding!” Song Huai’s face twisted slightly. “Ha… Wanwan begged the doctor for ages, just wanting to know if it was a boy or a girl! Eventually, the doctor got annoyed and told her to go home and prepare pink clothes!”
"Stop talking..."
"When your daughter was induced, she was covered in blood!" Song Huai's eyes were ferocious, like a demon. "Wanwan was still conscious at the time and begged my mother and the doctor to take the fetus back and find a place to bury it..."
"Want to know where it's buried? Give me the money, and I'll take you there right away!"
"I told you to stop talking!"
Lin Zhaojiang roared suddenly, his eyes slightly reddening.
His heart felt like it was being ground into a meat grinder, the pain so intense that he could barely breathe.
Hearing the commotion, Song Wan rushed out of the kitchen and was startled by Lin Zhaojiang's appearance.
"Zhaojiang! What's wrong with you?" She glanced at Song Huai with disgust. "Brother! What did you say to him?"
Chen Li and Song Xi also ran over and tried their best to drag Song Huai out, preventing him from entering the house.
Fueled by alcohol, Song Huai cursed and swore in the corridor. After a while, he calmed down, staggered downstairs, and gradually walked away.
Song Wan looked at Lin Zhaojiang with concern, touched his face, and asked softly, "Are you feeling unwell? Did my brother... say something you didn't like? I apologize on his behalf."
