Chapter 1035 Side Story: Evening in the City (98)

Linna gave her an address.

Song Wan followed the directions and found Lin Na's car parked on the side of the road in front of a shop on the commercial street. She smiled and waved at her.

"This car is pretty ordinary, but its performance is excellent!" Linna smiled shyly. "This... I bought it with my first paycheck, and after driving it for so long, I've grown quite attached to it."

Song Wan was stunned. She hadn't expected that someone from her background would have to save money on her own.

"You'll find out later, I'm not well-regarded in the Lin family..." Lin Na's expression darkened, but she still tried her best to smile at her. "I'm really happy to be friends with you and work together. Song Wan, you won't look down on me because I'm not valued in the Lin family, will you?"

Song Wan's heart tightened. She seemed to have heard Lin Zhaojiang mention once that Lin Na was not her fourth uncle's biological daughter. They adopted the child simply to have someone to rely on, but after her fourth uncle and aunt had their own biological children, they never paid any attention to Lin Na again.

"No, I won't." Song Wan smiled and shook her head. "You're a good person and you're capable at work. How could I look down on you? Besides, people don't need to live in the eyes of others. Just be yourself."

"You're so kind," Linna said with a smile. "Having a friend like you is enough for me in this life! By the way, I'm so sorry for making you revise the manuscript again and again..."

"Don't say that, you're only doing it for my own good."

Lin Na glanced at her, a slight smile playing on her lips.

Although it has sharp teeth and claws, this kitten keeps its claws retracted most of the time.

"Nana," Song Wan looked out the window at the scenery and the dwindling crowd, "where are you taking me?"

"Let's not drive around the city anymore, I'll take you for a walk in the suburbs!"

"this……"

"Don't worry, we'll make it in time!" Linna patted the back of her hand. "We won't go far, just to the outskirts of the city. The scenery there is really beautiful, and there aren't many people around!"

Song Wan nodded, and soon Lin Na led her to a scenic spot on the outskirts of the city. There was a villa area there, built along the mountainside, all small and exquisite in European style, with blue skies, white clouds, birdsong, and fragrant flowers, enjoying a unique advantage.

Song Wan immediately fell in love with the place.

"How is it?" Linna laughed. "I didn't lie to you, did I? Isn't it great here?"

"If we could live here, wouldn't it be like living in a fairyland?" Song Wan smiled as well.

"I didn't dare take you anywhere else, so I had to bring you here. This villa area was developed by Zhonglin Group, so it's basically my older brother's territory!"

The two continued walking along the mountain path. The tranquil environment and fresh air greatly eased Song Wan's nerves, which had been tense for the past few days. Birds chirped from time to time in the woods, like melodious music. Standing anywhere and admiring the mountain scenery was a truly refreshing experience.

The villas are not built close together at all, with plenty of space. Each small house has its own courtyard, giving it a European pastoral feel.

“Most of the buildings here are used for commercial purposes,” Linna pointed. “Look… those are coffee shops over there, don’t they look familiar? They’re popular spots that you often see on social media.”

"And over there, they've all turned into guesthouses. The owners here are very good at business, and during peak tourist season, many people come specifically to visit."

"However... some houses are bought by individuals for living in."

Linna walked alongside her, talking as they went. Before long, the two arrived at a small courtyard.

The location is rather remote, far from the cafes and guesthouses. And it's obvious at a glance that this is a private courtyard.

“I heard… the owner of this house hasn’t lived here for a long time,” Linna said. “We can go in and take a look!”

"Hey!" Song Wan quickly stopped her, "Isn't this a bit inappropriate?"

"It's okay."

Linna pushed open the courtyard gate. The house really looked like it had been empty for a long time, but the courtyard was very clean, and it was obvious that someone cleaned it regularly.

However, as soon as Song Wan stepped inside, she suddenly felt a chill.

She shivered and suddenly stopped in her tracks.

"What's wrong?" Linna turned to look at her, smiled and said, "Oh, this is a windy spot, a mountain breeze will blow in, let's walk further in!"

Song Wan nodded, but the further she went in, the more familiar the scenery seemed...

The house is a small courtyard with a European pastoral style, planted with beautiful orchids. There are mountains behind the house, and the surroundings are so quiet that you can hear the wind rustling through the leaves.

The furniture in the house is somewhat retro, and each piece exudes an air of luxury.

Song Wan was having some difficulty breathing, and her temples were throbbing.

She remembered that strange dream again.

She increasingly felt as if she had stepped into a dream...

"Ah—" Song Wan stood in the room for a while, then suddenly had a headache, covered her ears, squatted on the ground and screamed.

"Song Wan, what's wrong?"

"Don't come any closer!"

“Song Wan…”

Lin Na tried to help her up, but Song Wan pushed her aside forcefully. It felt like a million insects were gnawing at her brain, and every nerve, bone, and blood vessel in her body was being torn apart by pain.

"Song Wan, are you alright?" Lin Na waited for her to calm down before gently helping her up. Song Wan's face was pale, she was trembling, and her big eyes showed fear.

But at that moment, a strange smile flickered across Linna's lips.

"Are you feeling unwell?" Linna asked, feigning concern, taking off her coat and draping it over her shoulders. "Is... this house a bit chilly?"

"I...I want to leave here..." Song Wan didn't even have the strength to speak, "Please take me away from here, please..."

"Okay, don't rush! We'll leave now." Lin Na supported her, saying they would leave immediately, but her steps were particularly slow. Song Wan's legs were weak, and every step felt like walking on a swamp, and that swamp was the blurry scene in her memory.

Lin Na took her back to the hotel and then called Lin Zhaojiang.

When Lin Zhaojiang arrived, Song Wan had already fallen asleep, and several doctors were gathered around her.

"Don't worry, Mr. Lin, Ms. Song is fine. She's just too tired. Let her rest more; it will be good for her health."

Lin Zhaojiang's voice was low and anxious, "Are you sure she's alright?"

"Sure."

"What's wrong with her today?!" Lin Zhaojiang roared.

Lin Na gave the doctors a wink, signaling them to leave, and then looked up to meet Lin Zhaojiang's piercing gaze.

The room was eerily quiet, and the man in front of me was like a volcano ready to erupt at any moment.

However, Linna calmly walked up to him, her soft voice carrying a hint of innocence: "Big brother, it's all my fault... I won't complain no matter how you punish me."
