"Okay, I understand."
Rachel agreed and turned to leave the office.
A few days later, Lin Zhaojiang and Song Wan went to the airport together to pick him up.
Emerging from the VIP passage were not only Huo Junyang, but also Huo Jingnan and Pei Nian, followed by Huo Junyu, Jiang Mianmian, and Huo Jiayuan, a family of three.
The group saw them as soon as they walked over and waved to greet them warmly.
Huo Jiayuan cheered and jumped all the way, almost jumping onto Lin Zhaojiang!
The scene was lively, and everyone was laughing heartily.
Song Wan was somewhat surprised, but she greeted them with a smile. Of all the people in the group, only Huo Jiayuan was someone she was truly familiar with.
"Teacher Song!" Huo Jiayuan hugged her, tilting her little face up and calling out sweetly, "I haven't seen you for so long, I don't even want to go to kindergarten!"
"It's true," Jiang Mianmian said with a smile. "In the first few days after you left, she kept asking for Teacher Song every day and refused to go to kindergarten. It was such a headache for me!"
“She doesn’t listen to anyone except Teacher Song.” Huo Junyu chuckled, picked up Huo Jiayuan, and pinched her little nose. “Daddy wasn’t lying to you, was he? Teacher Song really isn’t in Yangcheng, so do you want to go to kindergarten properly when we get back?”
"Hmm..." Huo Jiayuan pouted, "Then I won't go back. I'll find a kindergarten to attend here!"
Everyone was amused by her childish, innocent words.
Huo Junyang coughed twice and explained to Song Wan, "I did come to Yun City for work. But the rest of the group are here on vacation!"
"Wasn't Zhijin with you?"
"Hey, she's very busy these days, she doesn't even paint anymore." Huo Junyang smiled helplessly. "She has to manage all the big and small affairs of the Bai family, and I'm in charge of the studio now. Although we don't see each other often, we still discuss our work frequently. This trip to Yun City was all thanks to her strong support!"
Song Wan nodded, feeling a little guilty towards Bai Zhijin because of Bai Ruogu.
"Grandpa!" Although Huo Jiayuan was being held by Huo Junyu, she still playfully reached out her little hand to pinch Lin Zhaojiang's cheek. "Yuanyuan misses Grandpa too!"
"Really?" Lin Zhaojiang's eyes were full of affection. "Then Yuanyuan, stay here a little longer. Your great-uncle will treat the little princess well!"
"Uncle," Jiang Mianmian said with a shy smile, "I'll be troubling you these next few days!"
"Don't be so polite with me!" Lin Zhaojiang narrowed his eyes, then looked at everyone. "I may be of a higher generation than you, but I feel like we're peers when we're together!"
"No way, Uncle Lin!" The thoughtless Huo Junyang immediately added insult to injury, "You're more than ten years older than Song Wan, and much older than my brother too, you..."
"Ouch!" Before Huo Junyang could finish speaking, Huo Jingnan laughed and punched him.
Lin Zhaojiang pouted and glared at the boy, pretending to be angry.
"Don't worry, Uncle Lin," Huo Jingnan said, rubbing his hands together eagerly, "I'll teach him a lesson for you!"
Huo Junyang covered his head and begged for forgiveness, repeatedly admitting his mistakes. "I was wrong, I was wrong, please! Auntie... Auntie, save me!"
Song Wan blushed, and Lin Zhaojiang took the opportunity to hold her small hand and laugh with everyone.
Upon exiting the airport, Lin Zhaojiang hosted a welcome dinner for them, and the group enjoyed a pleasant meal together. The five-star hotel, owned by the Zhonglin Group, is a landmark building in the city, boasting a prime location with bustling traffic in front.
Lin Zhaojiang arranged the best private room and the most exquisite dishes for them.
Huo Junyang was captivated by the authentic local delicacies of Yun City and ate to his heart's content, completely disregarding his image. Looking around at the other couples, Huo Junyu and Jiang Mianmian were taking care of the little princess together, while Huo Jingnan and Pei Nian were sharing food, their eyes filled with sweet affection.
Lin Zhaojiang, needless to say, was practically feeding Song Wan his food.
Huo Junyang suddenly felt that the food in his mouth no longer tasted good, and slowed down the speed at which he picked up food.
"Second Uncle, what's wrong?" Kind-hearted Huo Jiayuan put the shrimp her father had peeled for her into her second uncle's plate.
Huo Junyang gave a bitter smile. "Little princess, they're all in pairs, and it's just the two of us left..."
Before he could finish speaking, the little princess scoffed at his second uncle: "I don't want to be paired with you!"
"Hey, you little rascal..."
Huo Jiayuan pouted: "You're too old!"
Lin Zhaojiang almost choked when he heard this.
Everyone laughed, but he just smirked and repeated Huo Junyang's words: "You little rascal..."
Huo Jiayuan ran to Song Wan's side, pleading for food. After getting her parents' permission, Song Wan got up to find a waiter.
However, as soon as I stepped out of the private room and into the hotel corridor, I saw a furtive figure darting past behind a pillar.
Song Wan was stunned. The person's back looked extremely familiar, and she followed him involuntarily. The closer she got, the more surprised she became.
"Mom?" she called out.
"Ah—" Chen Li was so frightened that she almost jumped up. She turned around abruptly, and when she saw it was her, her face turned pale.
"Mom, what's wrong?" Song Wan asked in confusion. "You...you've been discharged from the hospital? I didn't complete the paperwork for you. What are you doing here?"
"I……"
Chen Li stammered and couldn't answer.
She rolled her eyes, stared at Song Wan for a while, and finally calmed down. She then took the initiative and yelled at her, "What's wrong with me being here? This is a hotel! Can't I have a meal here? Besides, I... I'm in the hospital, not in jail! Can't I come out and move around a bit?"
Song Wan stared blankly at her.
"And you!" Chen Li's voice rose even louder, hands on her hips as she scolded her, "What are you doing here? Here to eat? Ha, with Lin Zhaojiang again, huh? You brat! You come to such high-end places to squander your money, don't you know how to save a little to help your brother! All these years, I've really wasted my time raising such a money-losing brat!"
Song Wan's face flushed red and then turned pale, and she bit her lip tightly.
She shouldn't have called her in the first place!
Strangely enough, every time Chen Li saw her, she had endless things to say. No matter what she did, Chen Li could always find fault with it.
Perhaps the mother and daughter were born incompatible...
Song Wan took a deep breath, her voice trembling slightly, and said, "I have something to do, so I'll go first. You should go back to the hospital as soon as possible. Zhao Jiang has found you the best cardiovascular specialists. You need to cooperate with their treatment so that you can recover quickly!"
"I know, I know, do you have to nag me? It's so annoying!" Chen Li rolled her eyes and walked quickly forward. In no time, her figure disappeared from Song Wan's sight.
Song Wan felt a heavy weight pressing on her chest, and her good mood vanished instantly.
She was about to return to the private room when, just as she turned around, she suddenly saw He Yining walking out from the same direction as Chen Li!
He Yining also saw her.
Both of them were taken aback for a moment, and then He Yining greeted her with a smile: "Miss Song Wan? Hello, we met last time in President Xiao's office."
