Chapter 196 Thinking of You

Jiang Can thought it was almost lunchtime and he shouldn't be busy, but little did he know that a terrifying storm had just ended in the conference room on the other end of the phone.

However, upon hearing that soft, sweet voice, Huo Zhixing's heart melted, and his immense temper vanished.

He smiled slightly, his eyes and brows full of doting affection.

When Jiang Can heard no response from the other end, she waited a while and then asked obediently, "Are you... busy? Did I bother you?"

He whispered, "No."

"Then what are you doing?"

"Want to hear the truth?" The man smiled.

"Of course!"

I'm thinking of you.

The three soft words made Jiang Can's cheeks flush slightly, and she gripped her phone tightly, her fingers fidgeting restlessly.

"And you?" he asked too. "What are you doing?"

Jiang Can said softly, "I'm thinking of you too."

Huo Zhixing beamed with joy, all the gloom from before vanishing.

Everyone in the conference room stared at Fang Han with looks of utter disbelief, as if they'd seen a ghost in broad daylight. Fang Han gave them a wink and made a helpless expression.

"Have you eaten lunch?" Jiang Can asked him gently. "If you haven't, come over to my house. I bought lobster and I'll make you lobster baked rice."

Huo Zhixing's soul immediately nodded in agreement, leaving everyone in the house behind to fly to Jiang Can's house and sit and wait for dinner.

But the reality is...

The Huo family's affairs were numerous and complicated, and he could not find a moment's peace.

He looked at Fang Han, who looked anxious and gestured wildly, indicating that he had negotiations, meetings, visiting businessmen, and several stacks of documents to review that afternoon...

Huo Zhixing, however, calmly asked into the phone, "Where are you now?"

“It’s right in front of the supermarket near my house,” Jiang Can chuckled.

"Wait for me, I'm coming right away."

After he hung up the phone, Fang Han's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. "Young Master, what you've done..."

"What's wrong?" He gave me a cold look. "You don't even deserve a lunch break anymore, do you?"

"No..." Fang Han forced a smile, "Actually, the meal has been ordered for you at Minghuang Family Restaurant. You can rest after you finish eating..."

"Hey, young master!"

Before he could finish speaking, Master Huo had already vanished without a trace.

Nothing is more important than saying "I miss him".

Huo Zhixing quickly arrived at the entrance of the small supermarket, and upon seeing Jiang Can, he went up to her and hugged her tightly.

I can skip meals, but I can't miss seeing people.

Her faint, sweet fragrance is the best medicine, capable of curing all unhappiness.

"Hey, what's wrong with you?" Jiang Can patted his back and laughed, "You're hungry but you still have so much energy!"

“It’s precisely when you’re ‘hungry’ that you have more energy,” the man whispered in her ear with a hint of amusement. “Hasn’t it always been like this?”

Jiang Can suddenly realized what he was talking about, her face immediately turned red, and she raised her little fist to swing at him.

Huo Zhixing laughed and let her pound him, even pulling her small hand towards his chest, saying, "Pound here, harder!"

Jiang Can didn't gain any advantage; instead, he gently pulled her into his arms again.

"Alright, I'm not kidding anymore." Huo Zhixing's smile faded, and he looked at her seriously. "I'll just come to see you for a moment and then leave. I won't eat."

"Huh?" She was taken aback. "Why?"

"There are still many things to handle at the company."

"Oh..." She nodded, a little disappointed, but work was more important. "Okay, then come over tonight if you have time."

"Okay." He ruffled her hair. "I'll help you carry your things back."

"No need! It's just one lobster and some vegetables, I can manage on my own. Besides, we have guests at home right now, so I might have to wait a while before I can go back."

"A guest?" Huo Zhixing was taken aback. Jiang Can's mother rarely interacted with others, so why did she suddenly have a guest?

“Yes, she was my mother’s best friend in the past,” Jiang Can said with a smile. “A very elegant aunt.”

Huo Zhixing nodded, not thinking much of it.

He held her shoulders, looked at her intently, and said in a low voice, "Can Can, I'm planning to... arrange for you to meet my mother."

Jiang Can's heart jumped into her throat.

"Don't worry," he said gently, "I will handle your relationship in the most appropriate way and won't put you in a difficult position."

Jiang Can said sadly, "I'm the one who put you in a difficult position..."

"Don't talk nonsense!" He patted her head and chuckled. "This weekend is Bai Jingyuan's parents' 30th wedding anniversary. The Huo family will definitely be there, and my mom has always been on good terms with Lao Bai's parents, so she will be there too."

"Can Can, come with me. I want everyone to know you exist!"

...

After returning home, Fu Xiuyu couldn't stop thinking about the little princess and was determined to make her her daughter-in-law.

That day, I heard Yin Wenxi say that the little princess works at a newspaper, and it seems that she is going to the financial center today to interview some investment elite who came back from Wall Street.

So Fu Xiuyu didn't even bring an assistant and drove herself to the financial center.

Jiang Can waited at the entrance of the financial center for nearly two hours.

Despite her aching back from standing, she dared not be careless for a moment. The meeting at the financial center was about to end, and she used the last ten minutes to go through the interview outline from beginning to end.

Suddenly the conference room door opened, and several reporters rushed over.

Jiang Can was already very familiar with this kind of scene. She pulled the cameraman forward and, because of her petite figure, easily stood in a great position in the front row.

The interviewee, Yuan Tao, comes from a middle-class family and has ten years of investment experience on Wall Street after graduating from university. He is definitely an elite.
