The group hurriedly left, making sure to close the door behind them.
Once the footsteps had faded into the distance, Bai Jingyuan propped himself up and carefully helped the girl up.
Are you alright?
The girl coughed several times, too weak to even speak.
"You don't look well..." Bai Jingyuan frowned. "I'd better take you to the hospital!"
"No need..." she finally managed to squeeze out the words after a long pause. "It's an old problem, I know what I'm doing."
Along with those words, a genuine laugh also emerged.
Bai Jingyuan was stunned for a while before he remembered to ask, "Who exactly are you? Why are those people chasing you?"
“I…” she thought for a moment and said softly, “I am someone who steals time from the hands of death. Those people just now were all accomplices of death; they wanted to take me back.”
"What do you mean? I don't understand." Bai Jingyuan scratched his head.
Looking at her from this angle, her thin shoulders and her haggard yet beautiful sickly appearance truly aroused his protective instincts.
"My name is Bai Jingyuan," he said in a low voice. "Are you in trouble? Do you need me to take you home?"
"I don't want to go home." She turned to look at him. "If it's alright, could you take me for a walk in the yard?"
"courtyard?"
"Well, I'll just find a quiet place to walk around for a while." She smiled. "With my physical condition, I can't walk too far. I just want to wander around and breathe some fresh air."
This was the first time Bai Jingyuan had ever met such a strange person.
However, since the auction was boring anyway, I might as well take a stroll under the stars with a beautiful woman.
"Yes, of course!" He smiled. "But before I go for a walk with you, I need to know your name, right?"
She was taken aback, bit her lip, and after a long while whispered, "Wanyin."
"Late what?"
"Wanyin." She smiled at him. "You can just call me Wanyin."
