Chapter 27 The Rose with Thorns

Jiang Can pursed her lips, having no intention of arguing with her.

Just as he was about to walk around her, Cheng Xiaoxiao suddenly stepped in front of him and blocked his way.

"Don't think I don't know what you've been up to behind the scenes!" Cheng Xiaoxiao said arrogantly. "Jiang Can, you know perfectly well how you got this deal!"

Jiang Can turned and stared at her, his bright eyes flashing with anger.

She usually has a gentle smile and is kind to others; she rarely has such a cold and serious expression.

But Jiang Can seemed like a completely different person at this moment, and Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn't help but take two steps back.

"How did I get it?" she said, emphasizing each word. "I got it through my own abilities! I stayed up all night for a week, revising the sales plan countless times before I finally came up with it. Mr. Xiao was very satisfied, which is why he signed and stamped it! You followed for three months and didn't get it, which is your own incompetence! Instead of looking for the reasons within yourself, you're blaming others for working harder than you?"

"Ha, you've been working hard?" Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at her even more fiercely. "You've been working hard enough to get into a man's bed, haven't you? You think you can do whatever you want just because the director is on your side?"

"Cheng Xiaoxiao, don't make false accusations! What does this have to do with the director? Before signing this contract, I barely spoke a few words to the director!"

"Who knows if you said it or not? Hmph, you may not have said it at the company, but you've probably had countless 'in-depth conversations' about it in private!"

"you……"

Jiang Can's face turned red with anger, and their argument attracted a lot of onlookers.

A peacemaker tried to separate the two, but Cheng Xiaoxiao wouldn't budge, and Jiang Can wasn't willing to suffer such humiliation for nothing, so she insisted on confronting the director.

Just as things were at a stalemate, Fang Jinyang rushed over.

"This is the company, what are you two doing!" Fang Jinyang shouted sternly. "If you want to argue, go to the street. Since you're in the company, get back to work!"

Cheng Xiaoxiao glared at him fiercely, then turned and left.

Jiang Can stood there, her lips pressed tightly together, her cheeks slightly flushed. Fang Jinyang dismissed the crowd and pulled Jiang Can aside.

"Don't take it to heart by arguing with your senior." His voice softened. "She has that bad temper and is arrogant. She can't get over not being as good as you this time."

"But that doesn't mean you can just insult people like that."

"Yes, yes, it's all her fault!" Fang Jinyang narrowed his eyes, a sinister smile curling at the corner of his mouth. "Can Can, I apologize to you on her behalf."

As he spoke, he raised his hand and patted her shoulder. Jiang Can snapped out of her daze and quickly dodged backward.

Looking up and meeting Jin Yang's gaze, she couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine.

"No need..." she said softly, "I know my senior is just upset because she lost an order, and I won't take it to heart. But please tell her that if she dares to insult people like that again, I won't let it go!"

"Of course!"

Fang Jinyang's triangular eyes darted around, his gaze fixed on Jiang Can.

She usually seems quiet and gentle, but just now she argued with Cheng Xiaoxiao, and she really was like a rose with thorns.

This shock felt incredibly novel to Fang Jinyang, making him even more eager to try.

"It's almost noon." He smiled. "Can Can, let me treat you to lunch as an apology. Don't refuse!"

"No need." Jiang Can looked at him calmly. "I brought my own food and don't want to eat out."

"The leftovers from the night before?" Fang Jinyang smirked, deliberately lowering his voice, "Can Can, a pretty girl like you shouldn't be eating leftovers..."

“I only eat my own food.” Jiang Can looked directly at him. “Manager Fang, if there’s nothing else, I’ll go ahead and get back to work. You should also go back to your office early, so that my senior doesn’t see us talking alone and cause any more trouble.”

"Can Can, are you really that unwilling to talk to me?"

Fang Jinyang persisted in pestering Jiang Can, but when his gentle approach failed, he came up with another plan. He chuckled softly and said to her, "Actually, I didn't invite you to lunch alone; I had a client with me!"

Jiang Can stopped in her tracks, her gaze hesitant.

"He's from France. I checked, and you're the only one in the whole company who minored in French in college. Am I right?"

Jiang Can's eyes flickered slightly, but she did not answer.

"This client was supposed to visit tomorrow, but they changed their flight at the last minute. The translator I booked is unavailable today, so... Jiang Can, could you do me a favor?"

Jiang Can wanted to refuse, but the company had limited foreign client resources, and only high-quality resources would catch Fang Jinyang's eye.

If we don't go this time, we might lose a potential customer.

Moreover, Fang Jinyang is petty; if she doesn't go, it's tantamount to disobeying his orders, and he might make things difficult for her later.

Since they were going to a restaurant in public, Fang Jinyang probably wouldn't dare to make any advances.

"Jiang Can," Fang Jinyang said, seeing her wavering, he quickly added, "If this deal can be settled, you'll get your commission. What do you think?"
