Huo Zhixing pretended to break up the fight, but took the opportunity to punch Bai Jingyuan a few times. The entire private room was immediately filled with Bai Jingyuan's screams.
The three of them were laughing and joking around, but Ye Chen sat quietly to the side, drinking alone, as if separated from them by a transparent partition, existing in two different worlds.
"Hey, Lao Ye!" Bai Jingyuan went over and patted him on the shoulder. "We're out drinking, why aren't you having a good time?"
Ye Chen frowned slightly, remaining silent.
Huo Zhixing recalled what Jiang Can had told him about what happened on set earlier that day, and quickly realized that this stubborn person was doing it all for Cheng Xuerou.
"Is she unhappy because she was wronged?" Huo Zhixing asked bluntly.
Ye Chen's expression froze, and his fingers gripping the wine glass tightened suddenly.
Bai Jingyuan looked left and right, staring with wide, bewildered eyes. "Who is she?"
Lu Lishan quickly dragged him away and took him outside to play.
Huo Zhixing sat down next to Ye Chen, remained silent for a while, then frowned and asked him in a low voice, "Ye Chen, do you think what she suffered on set counts as being wronged?"
"I heard that when that actress first started out, she was whipped by her co-star, but all of her scenes were cut later."
Do you think this is fair?
Ye Chen looked up at him, opened his mouth, but said nothing.
“You’re a lawyer, you should know best that there is no absolute fairness in this world! It’s normal for Cheng Xuerou to suffer as a newcomer, you don’t need to feel sorry for her.”
"But……"
“But because the director of that film is Tang Yilan,” a deep glint flashed in Huo Zhixing’s eyes, “you think she has to accommodate Cheng Xuerou for your sake?”
