Chapter 421 Sang Qing

Jiang Can held onto Tang Yilan's shoulder, her heart trembling violently.

Huo Zhixing followed the police officer down to the basement level, while the two women followed slowly behind, their feet feeling like they were filled with lead, each step incredibly heavy.

The police officer sighed and looked at Huo Zhixing, saying, "You should identify it. It's best if pregnant women don't go in."

Huo Zhixing nodded, then turned to look at Jiang Can: "You guys wait here, I'll be out soon."

Tang Yilan's eyes darkened, and she followed closely behind him.

Go down those stairs and you'll reach the basement level, a dark and cramped space.

The police officer unlocked the door, and inside lay a man covered with a white sheet. The dim light cast a chilling glow.

Tang Yilan leaned against the door, feeling as if all her strength had been drained, and she couldn't take another step forward.

"Mr. Huo," the officer gestured, "please identify him."

Huo Zhixing forced himself to stand up and slowly walked up to the person. His hands trembled slightly as he lifted the white cloth covering the person's face...

It's not Ye Chen!

His heart suddenly pounded violently, as if something was hammering him hard; his limbs went weak, and a chill ran down his back.

After a long while, he finally let out a long sigh of relief, his lips twitching slightly, as if he had escaped a disaster.

He slowly uttered three words: "It wasn't him."

The officer nodded and asked him to leave.

"Then my friend..."

"Mr. Huo, please rest assured," the police officer said respectfully, "We will mobilize all available resources and conduct a full search!"

Tang Yilan slumped against the wall and sat on the ground, panting heavily, tears streaming down her face.

Huo Zhixing walked over to her and gently patted her shoulder.

"I'll have someone take you back to rest," he said in a deep voice. "Trust me, Ye Chen will be fine."

"But it's been so long, and there's still no news from him!" Tang Yilan bit her lip tightly.

The longer it drags on, the worse the outcome will be.

Huo Zhixing sighed deeply, his eyes growing even more somber.

Yes, with Ye Chen's wit and adaptability, even if his phone and passport were stolen, he would still find a way to send them a message.

Unless, he has lost the ability to tip off others.

Huo Zhixing clenched his fists, not daring to think any further.

...

The dimly lit little room was filled with a musty smell.

Ye Chen slowly woke up, feeling as if he were being roasted over a fire, his whole body aching with the slightest movement.

He was very thirsty, his throat was parched, and then a cool sensation touched his forehead. In his drowsy state, he thought it was raining and instinctively opened his mouth to try and catch some rainwater.

But then a sweet voice rang in my ears: "Are you thirsty?"

Ye Chen struggled to open his eyelids, his mind still hazy and disoriented, unsure of where he was.

"The fever still hasn't come down," the girl said in English. "I've had a fever for three days now. Could the wound be infected?"

Ye Chen moved his lips, wanting to speak, but suddenly a spoonful of water was poured in, choking him.

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry!" the girl exclaimed in a panic, quickly wiping herself with a towel.

The choking actually made him quite sober.

Ye Chen slowly opened his eyes. The girl in front of him had fair skin, a high nose, and chestnut curly hair, exuding a strong exotic charm.

But her beautiful big eyes were clearly the black color that only people of East Asian descent have.

Ye Chen was stunned for a moment, and suddenly tried to sit up, but felt a heart-wrenching pain coming from his lower abdomen.

"Don't move!" the girl pressed him down. "We finally managed to stop the bleeding. If you move again, the wound will reopen, and you'll die here!"

"This..." Ye Chen's voice was hoarse as he struggled to squeeze out a sentence, "Where is this?"

“This is where I live!” the girl smiled.

Ye Chen tried to adjust his eyes to the darkness.

It's clearly a basement, completely sealed off by four walls and without a single window.

The cramped space could only fit a bed and a few simple pieces of furniture. Pots and pans were scattered haphazardly on the floor. There was no wardrobe, only a simple clothes rack, on which the clothes were colorful and dazzling.

Ye Chen couldn't believe this was a young girl's residence.

When the girl saw him trying to get up, she tried to dissuade him several times to no avail. Helpless, she shook her head and picked up a relatively clean cushion to put behind him.

Ye Chen didn't dare to make any big movements. He carefully lifted the blanket to look. He hadn't changed his clothes. His white shirt was soaked with blood and sweat and was already filthy.

The wound was bandaged, but the bandaging technique was very unprofessional.

Ye Chen looked up at the girl, and after a long while asked in a low voice, "You...you saved me?"

The girl blinked and smiled.

The way it stood up looked a lot like the angels in the murals of European churches.

"What, I saved you, now you want to repay me?"

Ye Chen paused for a moment, his mind still a little foggy because of the fever.

He sorted out the whole thing from his blank mind.

He came to Manchester to find Tang Yilan, but as soon as he got off the plane, he got into a black cab. He hadn't been to Manchester many times before and wasn't familiar with the roads. The car made several turns and ended up in a secluded alley. The driver then revealed his ruthless nature and called over an accomplice.

later……

He was stabbed.

Then I lost consciousness, and when I opened my eyes I was here.

"Look!" The girl's voice pulled him back to reality.

She handed him two pills and a glass of water, urging him to take them quickly.

"It's fever reducer and anti-inflammatory medicine," the girl explained. "But it's the cheapest kind; I can't afford the expensive ones!"

Ye Chen chuckled; at this point, it was already a blessing to have medicine at all.

He swallowed the medicine, looked at the girl, and asked, "What's your name?"
