Nie Xin was taken aback. She thought she would make some kind of request, but it turned out she just wanted to have a nice meal.
The image of that street teeming with criminals, the filthy, cramped basement, and the gypsies singing and dancing in the square to attract tourists flashed through his mind again… He had never imagined that there were people in the world living like that.
To live with all one's might.
Nie Xin felt a little uneasy. She gently raised her eyes and met the girl's expectant gaze.
He reached out and patted her head, uttering a single word with difficulty: "Okay."
Sang Qing was overjoyed. Now that she had a good night's sleep and would soon be able to eat her fill, this was paradise!
Soon, food was brought in, all prepared by the hotel's top chef, even better than what she had eaten during the two days she worked there.
Sang Qing couldn't resist; her eyes lit up. Just as she was about to pick up her knife and fork to dig in, her hand suddenly stopped.
Then she carefully got out of bed, smoothed it out, and placed the plates on the dining table.
Nie Xin asked, puzzled, "We brought it to your bedside, you could have just eaten in bed. Why did you come down here?"
"What if I make a mess while eating? This bed is so nice, I can't bear to waste it!" Sang Qing forked a piece of fried salmon, swallowed it in one gulp, and exclaimed excitedly, "Mmm! Delicious, so delicious!"
Nie Xin chuckled and shook his head. He didn't understand why this little girl treasured the bed so much. If it got dirty, she could just find someone to clean it.
Sang Qing also couldn't understand him. In his eyes, nothing seemed to matter, and he didn't care about anything.
"Slow down, don't choke!" Nie Xin stood by, handing over water and tissues.
He didn't realize that he had always had servants add pepper for him, but now he was eager to serve a little girl, peeling shrimp and picking fish bones for her.
There are Chinese and Western dishes here. Sang Qing isn't very good at using chopsticks, and she can't seem to pick up a meatball no matter what she tries.
Nie Xin smiled, picked up the food with chopsticks, and fed it to her mouth.
Sang Qing ate it in one bite, her little teeth even getting a little stuck on the chopsticks.
The deliciousness of the meatballs made her feel like she could fly.
"Uncle! This...this is delicious, so delicious!" Sang Qing exclaimed. "You should have one too!"
Nie Xin was speechless, staring at her for a long time, "Do you... really have to call me uncle?"
"Then, what should I call you?" Sang Qing asked, her big, innocent eyes wide open.
Nie Xin's anger flared, "What do you think!"
Sang Qing slowly swallowed the meatball in her mouth, racking her brains, and finally muttered very softly, "...Daddy?"
"puff!"
Nie Xin sprayed a whole cup of water onto the ground and almost choked to death.
Sang Qing quickly patted his back.
While taking pictures, he smiled ingratiatingly and said, "See, if I called you 'Dad,' you'd be scared, right? That sounds too awkward. 'Uncle' sounds much better!"
"..."
Nie Xin had never been so speechless in her life.
He decided to let it go and not force her anymore; he would leave everything to her.
“Uncle,” Sang Qing smiled and asked him cautiously, “Can I sleep here for a while after dinner?”
"Of course you can." Nie Xin looked at her. "You can even live here without any problem!"
Sang Qing was flattered and didn't know what to say for a moment.
She never dreamed she could live in such a nice place.
The little girl lowered her head and silently drank the soup in her bowl, suddenly feeling like she wanted to cry.
Ha, a good night's sleep is enough; why would she actually stay here? Someone like her doesn't deserve to be here. Uncle's room is luxurious and clean; she absolutely mustn't dirty it.
...
Nie Xin very gentlemanly gave up the suite to Sang Qing.
Huo Zhixing invited him to stay at his home, and he pretended to be polite, but the next second he carried his luggage and went into the villa.
The two men sat on the carpet having a drink, while Jiang Can leaned back on the sofa listening to prenatal music.
The film camera was playing Tchaikovsky's symphonies, magnificent and grand, elegant and lively.
However, Nie Xin frowned, her thoughts drifting to the square.
Gypsies don't have many proper musical instruments and can't produce symphonies. But a hand drum and a harp are enough to transform a large square into a party scene, stunning everyone around.
I wonder what that little girl looks like when she dances gracefully in her long dress?
Her voice is like a nightingale's; she must have a great singing voice.
There must be quite a few men watching...
Nie Xin felt a lump in her throat, and her knuckles turned white as she gripped the wine glass.
"What are you doing?" Huo Zhixing reminded him, "It's your turn to play a card!"
Nie Xin snapped out of her daze and suddenly met Huo Zhixing's mocking smile. There was no need to play this card; he had already lost most of the game.
"I'm not playing anymore!" He threw down his cards, looking like he couldn't accept defeat.
Huo Zhixing laughed and exchanged a glance with Jiang Can.
They both knew he was thinking about someone.
"Since you can't let it go, why don't you go back and take a look?" Jiang Can smiled. "You have hands and feet, and no one's holding you back here, why don't you leave?"
"Cousin, are you kicking me out?" Nie Xin glanced at her, then looked at Huo Zhixing, "Aren't you going to do anything about your wife!"
However, Huo Zhixing sat down next to Jiang Can and nodded seriously, "My wife is right!"
"You..." I really can't stomach this dog food.
Nie Xin was furious: "Huo Zhixing, you're so spineless!"
Huo Zhixing nodded again, expressionless.
Nie Xin put down his wine glass and scoffed, "I think you're just a henpecked husband!"
"Oh..." Huo Zhixing pretended to be profound, "Even being a henpecked husband is better than some people who don't even have a wife."
