Sang Qing sat in the police station.
The cramped room was filled with cameras. She knew that countless eyes were watching her every move. There were two police officers in front of her, their expressions cold and expressionless, staring at her like ice sculptures.
She was uncertain and terrified, but she tried her best not to show her fear.
Once she gets scared, she has even less hope.
“Sunny?” one of the white officers asked her for the nth time, “What’s your last name?”
Sang Qing remained silent.
Since entering this door, she has been like a mute, not uttering a single word.
"Can't you understand us?" another officer asked sharply. "Do you need us to find you a translator?"
Sang Qing straightened her back, lowered her head, and her curled eyelashes trembled slightly.
As a matter of routine, the police officer asked all the questions again.
How did you come to England?
What are your usual sources of income?
"Several shootings have occurred in the southern neighborhood. Where were you at the time of the incidents?"
"You were at the Fu's Hotel when you were arrested. How did you get in?"
Sang Qing bit her lips until they turned white, and her small hands gripped the hem of her clothes tightly.
In fact, she had already considered the worst possible outcome—that she would be deported and unable to stay in Britain. She could simply find another place to stay, since she would be an undocumented person no matter where she was.
Homeless and despised by others, he lived a life of wandering, hiding like a rat in the street...
She wasn't afraid of any of these things.
But she was afraid of implicating her uncle.
They inquired about the Fu's Hotel.
She couldn't possibly say that it was her uncle who had taken her in at the hotel.
Sang Qing composed herself and forced herself not to say a word. She wasn't brave; in fact, she was already trembling with fear.
The only motivation that kept her going was not to burden her uncle.
She didn't know what to say or what she shouldn't say.
But she knew that as long as she didn't say a word, the police wouldn't be able to find anything to use against her, and thus wouldn't implicate Nie Xin.
Sang Qing took a deep breath, trying hard not to let the tears well up.
The officer gradually lost his patience and slammed his fist on the table!
The deafening sound made Sang Qing tremble all over!
"Don't think you can get away with this by pretending to be deaf and dumb!" the officer gritted his teeth. "We've seen plenty of scoundrels like you! The group of Gypsies who were arrested with you all confessed, and you're still not going to tell the truth?"
Sang Qing looked up in horror.
Confess? Confess to what?
Her Gypsy neighbors didn't recognize Nie Xin, but they knew she had once saved a lawyer named Ye!
Sang Qing's heart was pounding, and her mind was in complete chaos.
"Miss Sunny," the policeman smiled smugly, believing he had broken through her defenses, "your best option now is to answer the questions truthfully. Then we'll have someone escort you to the border, and after that, you can decide where you go!"
...
Sang Qing has been in the police station for three days.
For the past three days, she has been unable to contact the outside world. The only person who could send messages out was Officer Will. He reassured Huo Zhixing and Jiang Can that Sang Qing was doing well inside, and even though she was being interrogated, it wasn't 24/7; she had time to rest.
However, as his superior, he had to set an example, and even if he wanted to protect Sang Qing, he couldn't make it too obvious.
Jiang Can nodded and glanced at the listless Nie Xin beside her.
He was leaning back on the sofa, his hair disheveled, with dark circles under his eyes and a look of weariness in his eyes.
These past three days, Sang Qing has been suffering inside, and he hasn't had an easy time outside either.
After Officer Will briefly explained the situation, he was about to take his leave when Nie Xin, who had been silent all along, suddenly stood up and asked, "When can I see her?"
Officer Will paused for a moment, then said in a low voice, "I'm afraid you won't see her until she's deported."
Nie Xin shouted excitedly, "Why?!"
"According to regulations, after being interrogated and going through the relevant procedures, she, as an undocumented person, should be sent to the border and escorted by special personnel to watch her leave the country. However, this process is very tightly guarded, so you will not be able to see her."
Nie Xin was pale and remained silent.
After a moment, Officer Will looked at him and said, "Mr. Nie, the interrogation period generally cannot exceed five days... so on the last day, you may be able to catch a glimpse of her from afar at the police station entrance."
Nie Xin deflated like a punctured balloon and sat back down on the sofa.
Officer Will left the villa.
Jiang Can and Huo Zhixing sat on either side of Nie Xin. Just as they were about to say something, Nie Xin suddenly stood up again.
The two were startled.
Then Nie Xin went crazy and ran outside.
"Hey..." Jiang Can called from behind, but Huo Zhixing pulled her back.
"Let him go, don't stop him."
Do you know where he's going?
"Of course we'll go to the police station!" Huo Zhixing said with absolute certainty.
Just like back then, when Jiang Can was falsely accused of leaking company secrets, he was in England at the time. Upon receiving the news, he rushed back to Jiangzhou like a madman and went to the police station to wait for her.
Therefore, he could completely understand Nie Xin's feelings.
“Can Can,” he put his arm around her shoulder and whispered, “the only thing we can do now is wait.”
Jiang Can sighed, then suddenly felt a discomfort in her stomach, as if something was pulling down...
She took deep breaths repeatedly, and fine beads of sweat appeared on the tip of her nose as the waves of pain became increasingly pronounced!
"Wife, what's wrong?" Huo Zhixing asked anxiously.
"I..." Jiang Can gasped for breath, "I'm in a bit of pain, I think I'm about to give birth..."
