Chapter 481 Royal Rules

Jiang Can was taken aback: "Dad, what prince?"

Yin Ruohong's expression wasn't very good, and a bitter smile appeared on his lips.

"Hand Junyu over to the nanny, then call Zhixing over, and I'll take you both to see them!"

The group then proceeded to the reception room.

As soon as Jiang Can entered, she saw a man and a woman sitting on the sofa.

The Yin family's reception room was magnificent, and the two of them sat there, dressed in traditional Southeast Asian attire, adorned with jewels, exuding elegance and nobility.

Following royal protocol, Old Chen led Jiang Can and Huo Zhixing to meet them.

“Miss, son-in-law,” Old Chen said in a low voice, “the one on the left is Princess Heya, and the one on the right is Prince Hejin. You should pay your respects.”

Jiang Can nodded and bowed respectfully.

Then she looked up at them.

Heya smiled slightly and greeted her. She had heard that Heya was the only female princess in the royal family, and held a very high position.

Jiang Can thought to herself, not only is she of extraordinary status, but she is also beautiful. Having grown up in the royal family, elegance and nobility have been ingrained in her bones.

The Prince Hejin beside her possessed a delicate, feminine beauty; he was gentle, polite, and approachable.

“I’ve only met Chairman Yin’s son before,” He Jin said softly. “This is the first time I’ve met this young lady.”

“I’ve heard of this young lady,” Heya chuckled. “She’s the one who used to live in Jiangzhou, Jiang Can.”

“She’s been renamed Yin Can now.” Yin Ruohong smiled slightly. “But Can Can has gotten used to her name over the past twenty-odd years. It doesn’t really matter what she’s called. She’s my daughter, and that’s what matters most.”

Jiang Can was somewhat surprised. She didn't expect that the princess would find out so much about her background on their first meeting.

He Jin, who had been smiling the whole time, paused briefly when his gaze fell on Huo Zhixing's face.

"Sister, don't forget the important matter," he reminded her.

Heya remained indifferent and had her attendants present the gifts.

Yin Ruohong made a token refusal twice, but in the end, Old Chen took it.

"I am here today on the orders of my uncle to congratulate Chairman Yin on the birth of his grandson," He Ya said politely. "I hope the Yin family will flourish and achieve even greater success in the pharmaceutical industry."

"Thanks."

Having dealt with the royal family for a long time, Yin Ruohong handled every detail with utmost care.

He remained composed and asked the butler to serve tea. Then he sat on the sofa next to him and chatted casually with He Jin and He Ya.

The formalities were over, and everyone relaxed.

After chatting for a while, Heya became restless and kept glancing towards the door.

Yin Ruohong understood what she was thinking, but remained silent.

Heya finally couldn't help but ask, "I heard that Miss Yin didn't come back to Southeast Asia alone this time?"

Jiang Can was taken aback, and before she could answer, Yin Ruohong interrupted with a laugh, "Your Highness is asking such a question! Of course, she's not the only one; look, your son-in-law is sitting right next to you!"

Heya clearly didn't mean that, and squinted at the old fox Yin Ruohong.

Yin Ruohong continued, "And my little grandson, if Your Highness would like to see him, I will have someone bring him over!"

“Chairman Yin,” He Ya smiled enigmatically, “whom am I referring to? Chairman, do you really not understand?”

Yin Ruohong's hand, holding the teacup, froze in mid-air.

In terms of status and position, he certainly couldn't compete with the royal family.

But when it comes to rules, he bet Hea would definitely have to consider the dignity of the royal family.

If a princess shows too much desire for men, the royal family will lose face in front of the whole world!

So Yin Ruohong slowly put down his teacup, a shrewd glint flashing in his smiling eyes.

"Your Highness, is the person you want to ask about Nie Xin?"

Heya had been fiddling with her bracelet, but when she heard Nie Xin's name, her fingers suddenly tightened.

But there was still no abnormality on his face.

Yin Ruohong smiled and said, "Nie Xin did indeed come back."

Heya hesitated for a moment: "Then I..."

"Your Highness, your status is so noble, how can you take the initiative to ask for such a favor?" Yin Ruohong said unhurriedly. "According to royal rules, Your Highness cannot make appointments with men without permission. If anyone should make an appointment, it should be A-Xin who brings gifts and formally invites Your Highness!"

Herya's expression changed.

Asking Nie Xin to make an appointment with her? What's the difference between that and asking the sun to rise in the west?

But when Yin Ruohong brought up the royal rules, she had no way to refute them.

She could only bite her lip and tug hard at the beads between her fingers.

He Jin was good at reading people and could tell that Yin Ruohong did not welcome the two of them. Although they were royalty, in this country, royalty was just a figurehead.

Yin Ruohong only addressed them respectfully as "Your Highness" out of politeness.

So now, it's time for them to leave.

He Jin tugged at He Ya's sleeve and gave her a wink.

Heya was in a bad mood, her face stiff. He Jin had no choice but to stand up himself, say a few more polite words, and then, with his attendants leading the way, slowly walked towards the door.

As he brushed past Huo Zhixing, his gaze lingered on his face for a moment.

Huo Zhixing became alert, but when he looked up, he was met with the man's gentle smile.

After the two left, Jiang Can and Huo Zhixing accompanied Yin Ruohong to the study.

“The King of Nanyang had no children of his own,” Yin Ruohong explained. “So he selected a few children from his clan and made them princes, probably to observe them and see who was outstanding enough to inherit the throne in the future.”

"So Heya might become a queen in the future?" Jiang Can asked.

Yin Ruohong nodded.

This is also why the Nie family is unwilling to offend Heya.

Nanyang is a typical constitutional monarchy.

Although the monarch's power is limited and the royal family basically does not hold real power, it is still the royal family after all, and to a certain extent, it still enjoys popular support and has great appeal.

In addition, the royal family has a certain network of connections, and if the Yin family wants to continue to develop, they will inevitably have to deal with members of the royal family.

“Actually…” Yin Ruohong sighed, “the royal family intends to form a marriage alliance with the Nie family.”

"What?" Jiang Can and Huo Zhixing were both surprised.

“Nie Xin’s father, who is also your uncle, is General Nie Zhen.” Yin Ruohong looked at her. “He was quite a prominent figure, having earned several first-class merits and being granted a noble title by the royal family.”

"So it's not surprising at all that Nie Xin was chosen by He Ya."

"If Nie Xin really gets together with He Ya, that would be a good thing."

“But…” Yin Ruohong paused for a moment, “I think that child, A-Xin, doesn’t have anything on He Ya at all!”

Jiang Can was stunned, and couldn't help but admire Yin Ruohong's sharp eyes.

"So, Dad... when Heya wanted to see Nie Xin earlier, you refused her outright because of this reason?"

"That's part of the reason, but not entirely," Yin Ruohong chuckled. "Nie Xin is, after all, family, and I don't want him to suffer. Besides... I don't think General Nie has any intention of marrying into the royal family. At least for now, it seems he doesn't support Heya's faction!"
