Chapter 495 Could it be that she likes boys?

Jiang Can was startled and retreated several steps.

"That won't do! My clothes are dirty, and I reek of alcohol. It's so disrespectful to the Queen! I..."

"Don't worry, I have a plan!"

He Jin smiled at her and put one hand on her shoulder.

Jiang Can instinctively wanted to step back and keep her distance from him.

But He Jin seemed to have read her mind, and before she could back away, he quickly removed his hand.

Then, very politely, he asked her to walk in front.

Jiang Can nodded slightly, feeling puzzled, but subconsciously she didn't think He Jin had ulterior motives towards her.

Because his eyes were very clear.

She had seen men with ulterior motives before, from the supervisor who often made things difficult for her in Jiangzhou to the director who tried to take advantage of her in Yangcheng... These men all wore their dirty desires on their faces without any attempt to hide them.

He Jin, however, was not like that.

Jiang Can could see equality and love, kindness and compassion in those clear, black and white eyes.

She thought that if he really became a monarch in the future, he would surely turn this country into a paradise on earth...

"Jiang Can! What's wrong?"

Jiang Can was startled, and when she came to her senses, she found herself already inside the palace with He Jin.

"This is a dressing room reserved for members of the royal family." He Jin produced a set of clothes from somewhere and handed it to her. "Go and change!"

Jiang Can was somewhat surprised.

The outfit he was holding was a traditional Southeast Asian short-sleeved shirt and tube skirt, exquisitely crafted with gold thread trim and adorned with tiny pearls.

The two butterflies embroidered on the light pink satin are incredibly lifelike.

"This is……"

He Jin smiled mysteriously, "Change into it first!"

Jiang Can went into the dressing room and came out a short while later. Looking at herself in the mirror, she couldn't help but feel pleasantly surprised.

This outfit is practically tailor-made for her!

The neckline and cuffs couldn't be more perfect, and even the waist and hem length were just right.

Jiang Can looked at He Jin, but before she could ask, He Jin said, "Your cousin asked me to bring this to you."

"What? Nie Xin?"

It's amazing! Nie Xin actually knew beforehand that she would be splashed with red wine today, so she sent the clothes over!

"Nie Xin originally intended to deliver this to your home, but upon hearing that you were attending the Flower Festival banquet at the palace today, he asked me to bring it to you. He said this outfit was to thank you for letting him go into the rainforest to see the fireflies last time!"

Jiang Can chuckled. This cousin of hers was quite particular about reciprocity.

“I originally planned to give it to you after the banquet,” He Jin smiled, “but I didn’t expect it to come in handy so soon.”

"Actually, I brought a spare dress with me."

"But I bet yours isn't as good-looking as this one!"

Jiang Can was taken aback and looked up to meet He Jin's gentle gaze.

“This outfit suits you perfectly!” He Jin said. “The color and the small details all match you very well.”

His eyes held admiration, and Jiang Can felt no aversion whatsoever.

It actually gives me a strange feeling... like when I used to go shopping with my best friend and we'd be discussing something in front of the mirror.

Jiang Can smiled slightly and thanked him.

"Don't thank me yet, I'm just a porter," He Jin said softly. "You should know who made these clothes, right?"

Jiang Can had already guessed the general idea in her mind.

No one but Sang Qing has this skill!

"You..." she said, somewhat surprised, "You've met Sang Qing?"

"Well..." He Jin shrugged, "I've never met her, but according to Nie Xin, she's a fairy with both beauty and talent!"

Jiang Can was amused by him.

Nie Xin disliked He Ya, but enjoyed associating with the gentle and refined He Jin. The two were about the same age and had played together since kindergarten until they were separated in middle school.

The geographical distance did not create a distance between them.

No matter what happens, we still share it with each other.

Just like this time, Nie Xin told him about Sang Qing's story, and Sang Qing's temporary residence certificate was also thanks to He Jin's help.

"I think your cousin is really in deep trouble this time!" He Jin laughed. "Sang Qing works odd jobs at that tailor shop, and he goes there several times a day. The proprietress really thinks he's there to demolish the house!"

"How is Sang Qing doing lately?" Jiang Can hadn't seen her in a long time and was very worried about her.

"Don't worry, with Nie Xin protecting her, she should be fine."

Jiang Can touched the embroidery and beaded flowers on the dress and smiled, "I really like this dress. She really put her heart into it!"

He Jin checked the time; it was time to take her to pay her respects to the Queen.

The two walked together toward the inner palace of the Grand Palace.

The worship service had just begun, and royal nobles could be seen everywhere along the way heading towards the inner sanctuary.

Ochoa was the only one missing.

Jiang Can couldn't help but recall the scene in the bathroom—Ou Qiao had been soaked to the bone by her.

To be honest, it's a bit pitiful.

But there's always a reason why someone is pitiful.

Jiang Can's inherent resilience prevents her from indiscriminately offering sympathy.

However, thinking of this, she looked at He Jin with some curiosity, and after holding back for a long time, she couldn't help but ask, "Aren't all the people who came today women? What are you doing here?"

He Jin's eyes flickered slightly, and he stopped in his tracks.

Um... how should I answer her question?

He gave an embarrassed smile, thought for a moment, and replied, "When I was little, I looked very much like a girl. Sometimes when I went out with Heya, people would mistake us for sisters... I heard that this reached my uncle and aunt's ears, and they both laughed at it! So my aunt gave me special permission to still freely enter and leave the inner palace during the Flower Festival."
