"Ayan!"
Queen Jiamin looked at him in horror and grabbed his hand.
She looked around and saw that there were few guards in the main hall, and her two attendants were her trusted confidants.
She ordered everyone else to be taken away, leaving only her and He Yan in the hall.
Jiamin took a deep breath, looked at him and said in a low voice, "I know you feel guilty towards Lin Yue, but the facts are what they are, and we have no other choice! We have done more than enough for her by letting her recuperate in the western palace all these years and using the best medicine for her!"
"Besides, given the circumstances back then... she wouldn't have been able to sit on the throne."
He Yan's expression froze, and memories of the past vaguely surfaced in his mind.
Of the royal siblings, he was closest to Helin Yue. He remembered that Lin Yue was smart, beautiful, and capable from a young age. In front of outsiders, she was a noble and elegant princess, but in front of her brother, she became a spoiled and unreasonable little girl.
There is a beach outside the Grand Palace, which is He Yan and He Lin Yue's secret base.
The brother and sister would come here every day after school, take off their shoes, and wade barefoot in the waves. Seabirds circled in the sunset, and the beach was filled with their laughter. Sometimes, when they got tired, Helin Yue would jump onto He Yan's back and have him carry her.
"Lin Yue, if you ever find a boyfriend, you must find someone who can carry you on his back like I can, understand?"
"Hmm... what if we can't find it?"
"Impossible! My sister is beautiful and talented, and possesses the wealth of the entire Southeast Asia. What man wouldn't like you?"
"Brother, if I can't find my way, I'll stay in the palace forever, and you'll carry me on your back for the rest of my life, okay?"
He Yan smiled and nodded in agreement: "Okay!"
Little did I know that the joke I made back then would become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Lin Yue truly spent her entire life in the palace.
But the brother who promised to carry her for life never did so again...
"Ayan? Ayan!" Jiamin was worried when she saw him staring blankly, and gave him a hard shove. "Did you even hear what I said?!"
"I know." He Yan snapped out of his daze and turned to walk towards the door.
"where you go?"
“I…” He Yan bit his lip and uttered a few words with difficulty, “I need someone to book a plane ticket for me, I need to go to Manchester!”
"you……"
Jiamin couldn't believe those words were coming out of his mouth again.
A few years ago, he went to Manchester and came up empty-handed, and she thought he had given up. After that, the two of them tacitly agreed not to mention it again.
But now...
"Your Majesty, think this through! That child may no longer be in Manchester. Besides, even if you find her, will she be able to reunite with Lin Yue? What good will that do for Lin Yue's condition?"
"By doing this, you will only ruin everything... Your throne will be destroyed, and Lin Yue may not necessarily be better off as a result. As for that child, she may be doing well now, so why do you have to disrupt her life?"
He Yan stopped in his tracks, his slightly hunched back stiff and tense, and the muscles on his face twitching slightly.
“Ayan,” Jiamin said in a low voice, “Don’t let your emotions get the better of you. Even if we hadn’t done what we did back then, your mother would never have forgiven Lin Yue! That child could never have stayed in the royal family!”
"She gave birth out of wedlock, which is a major taboo in the royal family. We sent the child away to save face for the royal family! We did nothing wrong!"
He Yan remained silent for a long time, then suddenly sneered, "Yes, when have you ever thought you were wrong?"
“Ayan…”
“That child certainly can’t stay in the palace, but where did you send her?” He Yan’s eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Jia Min. “You abandoned her in the slums of Manchester!”
Jiamin held her breath; her hands and feet were ice-cold.
He Yan emphasized each word: "You've lied to me for so many years! You said you gave the child to a lawyer couple to raise! You lied to me!"
As he pressed closer and closer, Jiamin's back suddenly slammed against the cold palace wall, her knees buckled, and she knelt on the ground with a thud.
This matter was a knot in the hearts of the couple, but for the sake of interests and the greater good, He Yan could only keep it buried deep in his heart for many years.
However, today, the sight of Helin Yue running out with disheveled hair terrified him and awakened the conscience deep within his heart.
His emotions erupted like a volcanic eruption.
He remembered that the day his child was born was a bright and sunny day. Helin Yue said that her name contained the character "moon," so he would let the child's name contain the character "sun."
The sun and moon shine brightly, just like a mother and daughter connected by heart, never to be separated.
But Jiamin abandoned this little sun on the other side of the ocean, and tragically, as Lin Yue's brother, he tacitly approved of this...
"Back then, I was blinded by greed for the throne, and I can't continue down that path." He Yan raised his head, his eyes revealing a mixture of forbearance and determination. "No matter the cost, I will make sure Yin Ruohong heals Lin Yue!"
"I must find that child and reunite the mother and daughter!"
...
After the incident at the palace, Jiang Can took Sang Qing home to recuperate.
Sang Qing felt a little embarrassed, thinking that it was just a minor injury. However, in Jiang Can's view, if Sang Qing hadn't stepped forward, the fork would have stabbed his son.
Therefore, Sang Qing is their savior.
"Just stay here!" Jiang Can advised. "Aren't you preparing for the college entrance exam? This place is spacious and quiet, and there are many books at home, so you can study in peace!"
"As for the work at the tailor shop, if you want to continue, have the driver take you to work every day. If you don't want to work there anymore, and you feel it's unfair to be eating and living here for free, then..."
