Huo Zhixing looked surprised for a moment.
He Jin smiled calmly and said softly, "Actually... you should have known about this a long time ago, right? Mrs. Huo is so smart, she must have told you about it."
"Huo Zhixing," He Jin looked at him seriously, "that's enough for today, I won't bring it up again."
"Let's meet again after I ascend the throne. I will be the king, and you will be my subject. Between us... let's follow the rules!"
He Jin smiled and wanted to shake hands with him, but Huo Zhixing hesitated and did not take his hand.
His hand remained suspended in mid-air, slightly awkward, but as he had expected.
“It’s alright.” He lowered his hand. “I’ve said everything I wanted to say, and I have no regrets. I’m truly happy for you to see that you’re living such a good life. Cherish your wife; she’s an exceptionally good woman.”
"I know," Huo Zhixing said calmly.
"As for your son, he will also have a very prestigious status in Southeast Asia in the future."
"Your Highness..."
“I will protect them,” He Jin said softly. “I will do everything in my power to protect your wife and children.”
Huo Zhixing's heart tightened.
He Jin was an unexpected surprise in his life. He never imagined that his simple act of kindness back then would be remembered by He Jin for so long.
"Your Highness, thank you for your kindness," Huo Zhixing said solemnly. "My son will be spending more time in Yangcheng from now on."
"You really didn't need to reject me like this," He Jin said with a gentle smile.
“It’s not a rejection, but rather…” Huo Zhixing looked into his eyes, “Now that we’ve laid this out, I’ll also share my thoughts with Your Highness. Back then, I helped you with a small matter, and I only intervened because I was genuinely disgusted by those people who bullied others.”
“I understand, I understand everything!” He Jin said quickly, “It’s just… I couldn’t control my feelings.”
"Huo Zhixing, I've been different from others since I was a child." He lowered his eyelids and laughed self-deprecatingly, "Perhaps, I can't even be considered a real man..."
"No, that won't happen."
He Jin was startled, then suddenly looked up and met Huo Zhixing's deep gaze.
“I’ve been in Southeast Asia for a while and have heard a lot about you.” Huo Zhixing looked at him. “You have done many good things for the country and the people and are very popular with the people of Southeast Asia. You are worthy of the title of prince and will be a good monarch in the future.”
“You…” He Jin’s face showed a look of being flattered.
This lengthy praise actually came from Huo Zhixing's mouth...
Huo Zhixing smiled, reached out his hand, paused for a moment, and patted him on the shoulder.
"Even if your orientation is different from the norm, it doesn't stop you from being a real man and a truly good person!"
"Huo Zhixing..."
"Your Highness," Huo Zhixing said sincerely, "the future of Nanyang will surely be brighter and brighter under your protection!"
He Jin felt a lump in his throat, a complex mix of emotions welling up inside him. He wanted to say something, but his throat felt blocked, and he couldn't utter a single word.
He knew that the road ahead was long and difficult, and might be full of thorns.
But after hearing Huo Zhixing's words, he was no longer afraid of anything.
"Thank you." After stammering for a while, he finally managed to squeeze out these three words.
"It's getting late, I should head back." He Jin smiled slightly, turned and left the villa, walking into the courtyard.
Huo Zhixing came out to see him off, and the two stood in the courtyard, smiling at each other.
The night is beautiful tonight. A crescent moon hangs in the deep blue night sky, and fireflies in the rainforest and stars on the horizon reflect each other.
He Jin tilted his head, his reluctant gaze lingering once again on his sharply defined profile.
“I’ll leave you here,” he said softly. “Your wife and son are waiting for you at home.”
Huo Zhixing clasped his hands together and bowed respectfully, saying, "Your Highness, please take care."
"Um... Huo Zhixing," He Jin hesitated for a long time before mustering his courage to ask, "Before you leave, could you grant me one more wish?"
"Um?"
"I...can I hug you?"
He Jin spoke very softly, and after he finished speaking, he quickly lowered his head, like a child who had done something wrong.
Huo Zhixing was taken aback for a moment, then smiled calmly, stepped forward to give him a hug, and patted him on the shoulder.
Then they quickly separated again.
He Jin's mind went blank, his heart pounding. When he came to his senses, Huo Zhixing was smiling at him in a friendly manner.
That gentle hug just now represents friendship.
But for him, it is a treasure he will cherish forever in his heart.
After a moment of surprise, He Jin laughed heartily again, his steps becoming much lighter. After walking a distance, he turned back and waved vigorously at him until his figure was completely covered by the night.
Huo Zhixing stood in the courtyard for a while.
A gentle evening breeze blew in, and he took a deep breath, quickening his pace as he entered the house.
He couldn't wait to hug his wife and smell her scent.
However, a dark shadow darted through the bushes not far away, and a telephoto lens was slowly being retracted...
...
As soon as Huo Zhixing entered, he couldn't find Jiang Can, but he smelled a delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen.
He smiled, strode inside, and hugged the busy little woman tightly from behind.
"Ah!" Jiang Can was startled and raised her hand to slap the hands that were wrapped around her waist.
"Are you a cat? You walk without making a sound!"
"Wife," Huo Zhixing called out to her, his chin resting on her shoulder.
What are you doing?
He didn't say what he was doing, he just smiled, and then called her again, "Wife."
"What exactly happened?"
"Wife!"
