Just as Huo Junyu was about to say something, the phone rang.
A string of numbers is displayed on the screen.
Jiang Mianmian was stunned for a moment, but when she looked up, she met the man's calm smile.
“This is my brother,” he explained in a low voice. “I can recite his number by heart, so I don’t save it.”
He was about to refuse when Jiang Mianmian stopped him, "He must have something important to tell you, right?"
"What important business could he possibly have..."
"You'd better answer it quickly!" the woman smiled gently. "I just washed a few clothes, I'll go hang them out on the balcony to dry!"
Huo Junyu looked at her slender back with complicated emotions, hesitated for a moment, and then went outside the room to answer the phone.
However, before he could even utter his somewhat resentful "What are you doing?", Huo Junyang launched into a long, rapid-fire monologue:

Huo Junyu lowered his voice: "What is it?"

The younger brother chuckled, wondering how he'd managed to make his older brother so angry he was ignoring punctuation...
"Well, to be serious, I have something important to tell you." Huo Junyang stopped laughing, coughed twice, and lowered his voice, "I have information about Lu Xiaoyou!"
"What did you say?"
"Ranran told me... But brother, you absolutely must keep this a secret. Until the truth comes out, you must..."
"What nonsense are you spouting?" Huo Junyu frowned. "And who is Ranran?"
There was silence on the other end for a moment. After a while, Huo Junyang whispered to him, "Ranran is the current Lu Xiaoyou. She is Lu Ming's illegitimate daughter. And she told me... the real Lu Xiaoyou is very likely in Jiangzhou. Her name is Xia Zhi!"
"Xia Zhi?"

If Xia Zhi really is Xiao Youzi, then it's clear she's currently unaware of her own identity. Perhaps Lu Ming used some method to switch her out, keeping Xia Zhi in the dark.
Once she finds out that she is the daughter of the Lu family, she will probably use even more despicable means to deal with Jiang Mianmian!
Only his status could protect her.
Huo Junyu's clenched fist trembled slightly, and the veins on the back of his hand bulged out.
"What’s wrong with you?"
Suddenly the door opened a crack, and Jiang Mianmian's little head peeked out. "Why are you making a phone call from outside?"
Huo Junyu forced a fairly natural smile, pretending to be nonchalant, and put his arm around her shoulder as they went inside.
"Mianmian, I have something to tell you."
Jiang Mianmian was taken aback and looked into his eyes.
He was still holding her hand, and she could feel the warmth of his palm, but the depth in his eyes was something she couldn't fathom.
Her heart skipped a beat, and the whole world went silent.
Huo Junyu licked his lips, his voice low and hoarse, uttering each word slowly and deliberately, "My name isn't Huo Yu, and all those unbelievable things that happened to you after you came to Southeast Asia are actually related to me..."
"Mianmian, I have always been protecting you in my own way."
His hand gently stroked her face, slid down to her collarbone, and slowly pulled out the star pendant necklace from her neckline.
“This is the star I’m giving you.” He looked at her, his eyes filled with warm affection. “Actually, I am the star you can make a wish upon.”
"Mianmian, whatever your wish is, I will help you fulfill it."
"But now something unexpected has happened... I don't want to hide my identity from you anymore. I want to hold your hand openly and honestly, bring you to my family, and tell the whole world that my wife, Huo Junyu's wife, is Jiang Mianmian!"
Jiang Mianmian stared at him blankly, her eyes glazed over. Just a moment ago, it was as if a thunderbolt had struck, leaving her chaotic mind completely blank.
Her heart was pounding, and her breathing was extremely erratic.
Then, it seemed as if the soul had left the body, and the whole person was as if in mid-air, unable to distinguish east from west, and without any sensation.
"Mianmian? Mianmian!" Huo Junyu asked worriedly, "What's wrong? Did I scare you?"
