Jiang Mianmian nervously clutched the hem of her clothes with her two little hands, and blinked much more frequently than usual.
Huo Junyu reached out, and as soon as he touched her shoulder, she trembled slightly. Then she glanced at him timidly, letting his large hand rest on her shoulder, and stopped moving.
"Mianmian..." Huo Junyu wanted to say something, but couldn't say anything. He could only tentatively reach out and take her small hand.
"It's getting late, shall we go back?"
Jiang Mianmian was taken aback.
He spoke with a rising intonation at the end, as if he were asking her cautiously.
Instead of giving her direct orders.
Her heart melted instantly.
Scenes from the moment I met this man flashed through my mind like a movie.
He never raised his voice to her.
She has a cold and aloof face towards strangers, but when you see her, she can smile brightly and cheerfully.
He doted on her, spoiled her, and cherished her dearly. As soon as he heard that she had almost been hurt by Gu Zihan and Xia Zhi, he rushed to Nanyang.
If this isn't love, if he's gone this far and she still complains that he's deceiving her, then she's really letting him down.
"Huo Yu... oh no, it's..."
"I told you, if you're not used to it, just call me by my old name, it doesn't matter."
"How can that be?" Jiang Mianmian smiled. "Your name was given to you by your parents, how can I change it so easily?"
Huo Junyu was taken aback.
“And,” the woman’s voice trailed off, “I have to learn to adapt, starting with your name.”
"What?"
Huo Junyu wondered if there was something wrong with his ears, and then he was enveloped in a huge wave of joy.
"Wasn't I clear enough?" Jiang Mianmian's voice was soft, but every word was crystal clear. "You were always the one adapting to me, to my family, to my living environment, but I never thought of changing anything for you."
She raised her eyes, a hint of determination in her clear gaze. "Now, it's my turn to adapt to you."
"Mianmian..."
"Fireflies can't just wait for the stars to fall; even if they don't fly very high, they should try their best to fly into the starry sky."
Huo Junyu was flattered and stared blankly for a while, his lips twitching as he wanted to laugh but dared not laugh too loudly.
In the end, he took action and held her tightly in his arms.
"Hey, loosen your grip a bit..." Jiang Mianmian's eyes welled up with tears, but she also found it funny, patting his back with her small hand, "Are you trying to suffocate me!"
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry." Huo Junyu let go of her and apologized repeatedly.
He was just too excited.
He was initially anxious, worried that Jiang Mianmian wouldn't understand and wouldn't forgive him.
But now, he has obtained the most precious treasure in the world.
The two smiled at each other and walked hand in hand along the path. The moonlight lengthened their shadows, and the humid air of Southeast Asia carried a unique fragrance of flowers and plants.
As they walked, Huo Junyu took advantage of the situation and pressed her little head against his shoulder.
"Hey!" Jiang Mianmian protested, leaning to one side. "How am I supposed to walk like this?"
He raised an eyebrow with a wicked grin. "Can't leave?"
"Your head is tilted, let me see you walk over there!"
"Hmm, that works too."
As soon as Huo Junyu finished speaking, he straightened her body, leaned against her, and rested his big head on her shoulder!
"Ouch……"
"Look, I can walk like this!"
"Get up!"
The man became even more aggressive, determined to cling to her. His nearly 1.9-meter-tall frame pressed against her slender body, refusing to leave no matter what.
Kiss me.
"Um?"
Huo Junyu smiled at her, "If you kiss me, I'll stand up straight."
Jiang Mianmian was both annoyed and amused, and rolled her eyes several times.
Men really do get all excited and become quite conceited when they're given a little credit; they can be incredibly childish.
Before she could even retort, the impatient man, like a wild beast, suddenly grabbed her slender waist and imprinted a passionate kiss deeply on her lips...
He relentlessly plundered her, and Jiang Mianmian melted completely into his embrace.
He only released her reluctantly when he felt she could no longer bear his cruelty, tidied her messy hair, and caught a glimpse of fear and sweetness in her eyes.
Jiang Mianmian's body felt a little weak, so he simply picked her up in a princess carry and they continued walking in the moonlight.
"Junyu".
"Um?"
Can I ask you something?
He looked down at her and said softly, "Ask whatever you want."
Why did you suddenly tell me your identity?
Huo Junyu paused, his expression somewhat complicated.
He did not answer her immediately.
When they reached a quiet little park, the two sat on a stone bench, and he looked at her and said softly, "Would you like to hear my parents' story?"
Jiang Mianmian smiled curiously and leaned on his shoulder to listen to the story.
“My dad used to lie to my mom like that too.”
“They got together by chance back then, and my dad took someone else’s identity. He said he originally thought he wouldn’t be with my mom forever, but later he became deeply involved.”
"But he had all sorts of concerns and hesitated to reveal his identity to my mother until one day... my mother was almost killed by bad guys."
Jiang Mianmian opened her eyes wide and even held her breath.
“My mom was hurt a lot because of that incident, but thankfully they made up and are still very much loved by my dad.”
“Mianmian,” he turned to look at her and said seriously, “The reason I’m telling you all this is that I don’t want to go through the same path my father took.”
