Chapter 660 Your Enduring Love (81)

"Little Huo, if you... if you don't believe me, I'll prove it to you!"

Jiang Youcai tugged at her sleeve, trying to get her to sit down and eat. But Su Ai ignored his attempts to stop her and insisted on going inside to rummage through drawers and cabinets. A moment later, she came out with a thin birth certificate in her hand and placed it in front of Huo Junyu.

"Look, this is Mianmian's birth certificate!" Su Aiqian's voice trembled slightly as she pointed to the names on it. "Father, Jiang Youcai; Mother, Su Aiqian. Something's not right here! This was issued by the hospital!"

"Auntie, please don't get agitated. I don't disbelieve you..." Huo Junyu hurriedly stood up.

"Stop listening to that lunatic Niu Meili's nonsense!"

Su Aiqian trembled, cursed angrily, grabbed the birth certificate, and went back to her room without even eating.

After dinner, Huo Junyu made a phone call to Huo Junyang at the entrance of the alley and chatted casually.

"Let me ask you something," he said in a low voice. "If you had a son, but everyone said he wasn't your son, how would you react?"

"Brother, what do you mean?" Huo Junyang raised an eyebrow at the end of his sentence. "You're not hoping I'll get cheated on right now, are you?"

Huo Junyu emphasized, "Seriously!"

Huo Junyang thought for a moment and chuckled, "At first I might be angry and try to explain to everyone, but over time I won't care so much. The innocent will clear themselves, and besides, my son is mine. Blood ties are something that can't be changed, so why should I panic?"

"But your son doesn't look like you...?"

"Uh, bro, do you have to chat like this?"

"I meant if!"

Huo Junyang curled his lip, why don't you apply the "what if" to yourself!

"That's impossible! Father and son will always look alike! Besides, although I don't look like my dad, I look like my maternal grandfather!"

"Like my maternal grandfather... prickly and sullen?"

"Big brother, Grandpa was very handsome when he was young!" Huo Junyang chuckled. "Anyway, what I mean is that children will look like this or that, and some traits can even be inherited across generations, so there's no need to care too much about what others think."

Yes, that sounds like what a normal person would think.

Let them say whatever they want. Although I might get angry at first, as long as I stay calm, these rumors will eventually fall apart on their own.

However, Su Ai's reaction was so strong that it seemed like she was feeling guilty.

Feeling guilty...?

Huo Junyu narrowed his eyes, turned around, and stared at the small house not far away with a complicated expression.

The living room lights were on, casting a warm yellow hue, and the television was probably still on, playing the couple's favorite TV series at this hour.

Seeing that Su Ai hadn't eaten much dinner, Jiang Mianmian brought her a bowl of porridge and somehow managed to soothe the old woman quickly.

Su Aiqian came out to cut fruit for the family and peeked out towards the alley entrance, saying, "Xiao Huo, come in and have some fruit after you finish your call!"

Huo Junyu agreed and tried to walk in that direction, but his feet felt as heavy as if they weighed a ton.

The family was enjoying themselves so much that it was a beautiful scene that one couldn't bear to disturb it.

But could his current suspicions be a ticking time bomb?

He took a deep breath, adjusted his expression to be more natural, and strode in. He looked up and met Su Aiqian's loving gaze.

"Xiao Huo, I heard your brother is here?"

Huo Junyu paused for a moment, then nodded slightly, "Yes...."

"Then let him come over for dinner! I'll treat him to a good meal!" Su Aiqian couldn't stop smiling. "By the way, Xiao Huo, what does your brother like to eat? Write down a list tomorrow and I'll go buy it! Also, is it inconvenient for him to live outside? If not, he can come over and stay at home, just share a room with Xiao Wei!"

"Auntie, no need to trouble yourself..."

"It's no trouble at all, we're all family! It's only right that I take care of you!"

Su Aiqian's smile was genuine, and Huo Junyu was willing to believe that she was sincere.

During the time they spent together, Su Aiqian treated him very well, not to mention how much she doted on Jiang Mianmian.

Although she might have the nagging and gossip of a typical woman from the city, her heart for her child was like a crystal, pure and untainted.

How could someone like that steal someone else's child?

Huo Junyu turned his head to look at Jiang Mianmian. The happy smile on her face when she was with her family was genuine.

If he rashly destroys it, will we ever see such a pure and beautiful smile again?

Besides, nothing is finalized yet; what if it's all a false alarm...?

Huo Junyu let out a long breath, feeling as if a heavy stone was pressing on his heart, making him feel suffocated.

In the dead of night, Jiang Youcai and Su Ai's front door was tightly closed, the bedside lamp was on, and a faint light shone through the window.

Jiang Youcai glanced at his wife with a heavy heart, hesitated for a long time before finally stammering out those words:

"From now on... don't take out Mianmian's birth certificate again."

Su Aiqian was looking through photos of Jiang Mianmian when her finger suddenly stopped and hovered over one of them.

That photo was taken when they were holding Jiang Mianmian at the dock.

“That birth certificate is fake.” Jiang Youcai rolled his eyes and whispered, “You shouldn’t have shown it to Xiao Huo! He got in with a fake certificate, he’s a professional! I reckon he could tell right away!”

Su Ai's face turned pale, she suddenly realized what was going on, and felt a wave of fear wash over her!

Yeah, how could I forget that!

"No, no..." After a long silence, she forced herself to remain calm, "I only took it out for a short while, he couldn't see it clearly!"

Jiang Youcai glanced at her and smacked his lips impatiently.

"In short, don't argue with Niu Meili anymore. Let her say what she wants to say! When you yell at her, Xiao Huo thinks we're guilty..."
