For a moment, Jiang Mianmian thought she was hallucinating.
But when that tall, refined lawyer actually walked up to her, and when he gave her a handsome, sunny smile…
Jiang Mianmian's heart sank suddenly.
Xia Zhi leaned against Wen Jie's shoulder like a little bird, the corners of her mouth curving up as if she were showing off to her.
Jiang Mianmian took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.

"Hello," Wen Jie greeted her first. "I'm Wen Jie. We met in Jiangzhou, and..."
He paused, then chuckled softly, "Someone must have mentioned me to you, right?"
Jiang Mianmian took a moment to react and managed a weak smile.
"Yes, that's right."
"We had some misunderstandings before, but are they all cleared up now?"
"ah?"
Jiang Mianmian was stunned again.
Then she remembered that when she didn't know Huo Junyu's identity, she saw this handsome lawyer come to see her, and the two of them talked about some restricted topics... so she assumed that Wen Jie was a man who did special things.
I thought Wen Jie wanted to drag Huo Junyu into the mess and make them a pair of happy little yellow ducks...
Jiang Mianmian couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Now that everyone has taken off their masks, you can get to know me again."
Wen Jie has a tall and straight posture; he's the kind of person who can stand out even in a crowd.
But her "re-understanding" of her now has taken her completely by surprise.
“I’m a lawyer, and my family has some connections,” Wen Jie said with a humble smile, “and I’m also someone’s close friend!”
“He’s my boyfriend too!” Xia Zhi stood on tiptoe and hooked her arm around his neck.
Wen Jie smiled at her and subtly removed her hand.
Jiang Mianmian got goosebumps; her smile looked worse than a grimace. Not wanting to be a third wheel, she quickly made an excuse to slip away.
But after running only a few steps, Xia Zhi's voice came from behind again.
"Mianmian!"
"Is there anything else?" Jiang Mianmian suppressed her disgust, not even turning her head, but just turning her face to the side. "I don't want to take up too much of your work time, and besides, I can already see that you are very happy!"
"Mianmian, you don't seem too happy about what you're saying?" Xia Zhi crossed her arms and chuckled twice. "Wen Jie said he wanted to invite you to lunch so you could have a good chat. Shall we go together?"
"No need," Jiang Mianmian said coldly. "I promised Ranran I would spend lunch with her."
Just as she was about to walk forward, Xia Zhi's shrill voice came again.
This time, her tone carried a hint of arrogance and smugness.
"Mianmian, do you know the relationship between Wen Jie and Young Master Huo? I heard they studied abroad together and have a very close friendship, like brothers!"
"So what?"
"It's nothing much, we'll just run into each other quite often in the future."
"Not necessarily." Jiang Mianmian scoffed lightly. "You just said that once you got your internship certificate, you would go abroad and wouldn't be around in front of me anymore!"
“Mianmian…” Xia Zhi paused, “Wen Jie is a very innocent boy. He’s never been in a relationship before. I’m his first love! Ha, do you think he’ll let me go abroad so easily?”
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
Xia Zhi approached her, and the strong scent of her perfume seemed to bring Jiang Mianmian back to the past.
He brought back the days when she wholeheartedly considered someone her best friend, only to find that the person was using Lu Ming's money to help him harm her.
Jiang Mianmian clenched her fists, turned around, and stared coldly at her.
"What I meant to say was..." Xia Zhi smiled and leaned close to her ear, "You and Young Master Huo probably don't want me to hurt Wen Jie, right?"
"What did you say?"
"Wen Jie has deep feelings for me, I can feel it." Xia Zhi tossed her hair. "If I break up with him, it will be a big blow to him!"
"Mianmian, all I want is to get through my internship here safely. I won't go against you. But you have to spare my life, right?"
"If I'm pushed to the limit and lose my temper, and do something to hurt others... then nobody will be happy!"
Jiang Mianmian looked at her incredulously.
This is utterly shameless! It's shameless to the extreme!
Xia Zhi gave her a meaningful smile, turned around, got into Wen Jie's car, and drove away.

Jiang Mianmian was restless all afternoon.
It wasn't until Huo Junyu came to pick her up from get off work, and the two had dinner together and walked hand in hand on the beach, that she told him everything about meeting Wen Jie.
"Wen Jie came to see Xia Zhi today."
"He's actually Xia Zhi's boyfriend!"
"Was he deceived? Xia Zhi's motives for dating him must be impure!"
"You need to subtly persuade him, so he doesn't get too deeply involved and become unable to extricate himself, which would cause him great harm!"
"Junyu?"
Huo Junyu snapped out of his daze and looked at her with a resentful gaze.

Jiang Mianmian opened her eyes wide, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
"Huo Junyu!" She punched him lightly. "If he weren't your best friend, I wouldn't care about him at all!"
Huo Junyu smiled, gently embraced her, and his large hand wandered along her slender waist, touching her shoulder blade.
