Before Su Chen could say anything, Shen Xiao stepped forward and blocked him from entering, giving him a cool yet polite smile.
"President Su, this..."
The people around him were all at a loss.
Su Chen stood there, feeling unwilling yet helpless.
Bai Jingyuan and Ye Chen had been hiding in the shadows. They saw Su Chen stomp his foot and leave with a livid face.
Once he was sure he wouldn't come back, Bai Jingyuan rushed out, but Ye Chen grabbed him forcefully.
What are you doing?
"I'll go check on Third Brother!"
"Don't go," Ye Chen's eyes darkened. "Jiang Can and that doctor are inside, that's enough!"
Bai Jingyuan was getting anxious.
Ye Chen patted his shoulder and chuckled, "If you really want to help Third Brother, let's go and investigate that guy surnamed Su!"
Bai Jingyuan rolled his eyes, nodded vigorously, and quickly followed Ye Chen out of the arena.

Gu Mang slowly opened his eyes, and what came into view was a vast expanse of white.
The room was filled with the smell of medicine, and in a daze, he heard a little woman crying intermittently.
His heart tightened, and he immediately tried to sit up, but a gentle little hand pressed on his shoulder.
"Don't move!" Jiang Can's voice was trembling with tears. "You're covered in injuries, you must take good care of yourself."
Gu Mang looked up at her.
I don't know how long I slept, but the feeling of not seeing her was like centuries.
Now she's in front of him again.
He took her hand, and as usual, his thumb rubbed the back of her hand. Her already small face looked even thinner now, and she looked unwell. Her eyes were red like peaches, making her look pitiful.
"Wife..."
"Have you forgotten the three rules I made with you?!" Jiang Can was heartbroken and anxious, tears streaming down her face.
"Gu Mang, I told you, you're not allowed to push yourself so hard. Winning or losing doesn't matter, I just want you to be okay! Have you forgotten all of that!"
Gu Mang smiled gently.
How could she know the reason why he stood motionless on the stage, letting his opponents hit him?
"I'm sorry for making you worry." His voice was hoarse. "Once I'm better, I'll stand on the balcony, give you the boxing gloves, and you can use me as a punching bag and hit me as hard as you can until you're out of breath."
"What nonsense are you talking about!" Jiang Can sniffed and gave him a reproachful look.
She dipped a cotton swab in water and dabbed it on his lips, carefully observing the drip. Then she cut the apple into small pieces and fed it to him little by little.
He's not allowed to get out of bed and move around freely.
Gu Mang was well aware of his physical condition; this minor injury was not enough to render him immobile.
However, he was very fond of the little woman's tenderness and care for him, and he thoroughly enjoyed her worrying about him, getting angry, and shedding tears for him.
No matter what she did, his deep gaze followed her.
In the end, it was Jiang Can who felt uncomfortable first.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" she pouted. "Are you being very unruly? You hurt yourself like this and you still think you're right..."
"No." He paused. "Honey, am I really that embarrassing?"
"What?"
"I lost the game and was beaten like this in front of everyone. Don't you feel ashamed?"
“You…” Jiang Can stared at him with her bright eyes.
There was reproach and heartache in his eyes, but no shame.
"How could you think that?" she said gently. "It's just a competition. What's the big deal about winning or losing? Even if you win the world championship, you'll still be my husband, but even if you're penniless..."
"You are still my husband!"
Gu Mang's heart skipped a beat.
"Can't you even take my words to heart?" Jiang Can looked at him. "How many times have I told you? All I want is for you to be okay!"
"I don't care about anything else!"
"You, you better behave yourself!"
Jiang Can, who is usually docile, rarely has such an unreasonable expression.
However, Gu Mang liked it very much.
He looked at her quietly, a slight smile playing on his lips—one of the very few pure smiles he had ever given in his life.

She said that no matter what, he would always be her husband.
If she knew that she wasn't Gu Mang but Huo Zhixing, would she still accept him as her husband?
He took a deep breath and suppressed the impulse.

"This is what I promised you," Gu Mang said solemnly. "I will definitely keep my promise."
"Hmm." She smiled back, not understanding the hidden meaning in his words.
After the IV drip was finished, Jiang Can turned around, went out, and called the nurse.
Just then, Gu Mang saw his phone light up.
His eyes darkened, and when Jiang Can came in, he asked her softly, "Wife, is there anything good to eat?"
"Are you hungry?" Jiang Can glanced at her watch. "Dr. Shen said you should eat some liquid food... How about this, I'll go home and cook some millet porridge, and bring it to you soon!"
"Okay." Gu Mang nodded gently.
Jiang Can hurried home.
Shortly after she left, Bai Jingyuan and Ye Chen peeked out of the ward.
Gu Mang gave a light snort, and the two of them walked in laughing and joking.
"Third Brother, are you trying to scare us to death?"
Gu Mang looked up at the two of them and smiled.
"The injury isn't serious, what's there to be afraid of? That guy's punches and kicks aren't even as good as my old sparring partner's."
