Ning Meng remained calm and composed, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"Sister Mianmian, don't you believe me?"
"I only believe in the facts."
"But the Qin family's young lady has gone missing, and it's related to Pei Nian's adoptive father and younger brother—that's a fact!"
Jiang Mianmian was stunned, and almost laughed out of anger.
How can there be people in the world who lie through their teeth like this?
Did she really think the security camera in the hotel's backyard was completely broken? Did she really think that with the capabilities of the Lu and Huo families, they couldn't even fix a security camera?
Huo Junyu patted her shoulder and quietly handed her his phone.
Jiang Mianmian glanced at the message; it was from Huo Junyu's subordinate. "Young Master, we are working diligently to recover the surveillance data; the truth will soon come to light!"
Jiang Mianmian chuckled to herself.
The more Ning Meng tries to smear Pei Nian, the more it shows that she has something to hide.
They only need to remain inactive for now, and the fox's tail will be revealed on its own.
Just then, the butler entered, looking slightly flustered. Behind him were several uniformed men who identified themselves, surveyed the room with serious expressions, and asked in deep voices, "Excuse me, who is Pei Nian?"
Fan Yawen straightened her back. "What can I do for you, officers?"
"Are you Pei Nian?"
"I……"
"We received a report that Miss Pei Nian is involved in a kidnapping case!"
"What?"
Pei Nian's expression changed.
"Miss Pei Nian, please cooperate with the investigation and come with us!"

A day and a night had passed since Qin Nuan was kidnapped.
During this time, Ding Daming only brought them food once: a bowl of cold, thin porridge and a dry steamed bun. Qin Nuan, who had been pampered since childhood, had never seen such food before. She wanted to cry but dared not, so she could only hold back her tears and put the steamed bun in her mouth, biting it little by little.
Seeing her expression, Ding Cheng couldn't help but take her small hand in his.
Her hands were soft, but cold.
Moreover, after a day and a night of such a disheveled state, she was no longer the little princess she had been when they first met. Her hair was a mess, she was wearing Ding Daming's dirty clothes, even her palms were filthy, and her arms and legs were scraped and bruised.
Ding Cheng felt a sudden, inexplicable pain in his chest.
But these things in front of them are their only food, the only thing that can keep them alive.
Suddenly, Qin Nuan coughed violently, choking on a dry steamed bun. Ding Cheng quickly patted her back, and she coughed up a piece of the bun. Qin Nuan could no longer hold back and burst into tears.
"It's okay, it's okay, eat mine!" Ding Cheng broke off a piece, dipped it in the porridge, and coaxed Qin Nuan to eat it.
“I know this tastes awful,” he whispered to her, “but this is our environment… Nuannuan, people can’t change their environment; they can only do their best to adapt in order to survive. Do you understand?”
Qin Nuan stared at him for a while with her big eyes wide open, her little face covered in crumbs of steamed bun, before finally nodding as if she understood.
You need to be well-fed to have energy.
Only with strength can you do what you want to do.
People grow up in an instant. Little Qin Nuan didn't cry or make a fuss. She took the piece of steamed bun and ate it with gusto.
Ding Cheng chuckled, then casually remarked, "These steamed buns are like bricks; they could kill someone if they hit you..."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a brilliant idea flashed into his mind!
He slowly turned his head, his gaze settling on the few bricks in the corner...
"Nuan Nuan!" After a moment of silence, Ding Cheng suddenly pulled Qin Nuan close. "Do you want to go home?"
"Um?"
“I’m telling you, what you’re doing…”

Outside the police station, Huo Jingnan was pacing anxiously back and forth. He glanced up and saw a young police officer running out; he quickly went to greet him.
"Little Zheng!"
The man called Xiao Zheng saw him and grinned warmly.
"You little rascal!" Huo Jingnan stepped forward and punched him. "What kind of act is this? Why didn't you tell me beforehand?"
Xiao Zheng scratched his head and kept grinning sheepishly.
He was one of those who took Pei Nian away from the Huo family just now. Not only was Huo Jingnan stunned, but even Ning Meng didn't expect the police to come knocking on their door.
However, when leaving the Huo family, Xiao Zheng gave Huo Jingnan a wink.
Huo Jingnan understood immediately and ran to the police station entrance to wait for him.
"Brother Nan," Xiao Zheng lowered his voice, "Don't worry, Sister Nan knows exactly what she should and shouldn't say, she'll be fine!"
"Who exactly authorized you to bring her here?"
“Miss Lu!” Xiao Zheng shrugged. “But it must have been a spur-of-the-moment decision. It happened so suddenly that she didn’t have time to tell you.”
Huo Jingnan was taken aback. It was Jiang Mianmian?
“Sister Nan is indeed related to this case. She saw the child before he went missing. It’s normal procedure for us to bring her here to ask her questions.”
Huo Jingnan thought for a moment and smiled gently.
Jiang Mianmian used this "normal procedure" to send Pei Nian to the police station, because it was the safest place. If someone tried to frame Pei Nian again, that wouldn't work.
There's an inside man in the police station. Pei Nian won't suffer any grievances staying here for two days, and she'll also stay away from the troubles outside.
Huo Jingnan scoffed lightly, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
Jiang Mianmian really has a deep sisterly bond; she even thought of this method!
“Brother Nan,” Xiao Zheng continued, “it seems that Young Master Huo has obtained some surveillance footage. His men are recovering the data, and once it’s done, they will hand it over to the police immediately. At that time, Sister-in-law Nan will be cleared of all charges, and the truth will come out!”
"Okay." Huo Jingnan patted his shoulder. "Then I'll leave Niannian in your care during this time."
