Chapter 93 Only the Dead Can't Talk

Jiang Can moved her body and slowly woke up. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw the figure of the man on the balcony.

The soreness in her lower back reminded her of how wildly he had just been acting.

A blush crept onto her pretty face, even the tips of her ears turned red. She pursed her lips and smiled, but then felt strange. Usually, although he would pester her for things, he was still quite rational. At least he wouldn't do it so suddenly, with such force that he almost wanted to knead her into his bones.

Jiang Can gently got up, wanting to hug him from behind.

However, the moment her feet touched the ground, the pulling pain between her legs almost made her fall flat on her face.

Are you alright?

Gu Mang quickly reached out and grabbed her.

Jiang Can was taken aback, then he pulled her into his arms, meeting his gentle and deep gaze.

Gu Mang chuckled, placed her on the bed, and ruffled her hair. "Trying to ambush me from behind in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?"

"No, I didn't." Jiang Can punched him with her little fist. After the two played around for a while, Gu Mang's gaze suddenly lingered on her.

Her skin is fair, and even a slight rubbing will leave a red mark.

And he spent the whole night...

Gu Mang's eyes held a hint of ambiguity as he gently lifted her long hair. "Wear something that can cover your neck tomorrow."

It took Jiang Can a while to come to her senses. Feeling both embarrassed and ashamed, she snuggled into his arms and punched him hard with her little fists.

"Stop messing around!" he laughed. "Your strength is like tickling an itch. Do you think I'll lose control again?"

"Gu Mang, you..." Her starry eyes widened, "You're so bad!"

"So what?"

"If you keep being this bad, I might abandon you!"

It was meant as a casual joke, but when Jiang Can turned around to look at him, she suddenly noticed that the light in his eyes had disappeared.

Her heart tightened. "Honey, what's wrong?"

His expression was calm, gloomy, and defeated; he remained silent.

"I was just kidding!" Jiang Can looked at him timidly. "How could I abandon you!"

"What if I lied to you?" he asked, his voice slightly cold. "Would you leave me?"

"..." Jiang Can was speechless for a moment.

An eerie silence hung between them like an invisible wall, and Jiang Can felt, in a daze, that the Gu Mang before her was particularly unreal.

She felt a vague unease in her heart.

She was very nervous, and a strange chill crept up her spine.

Gu Mang suddenly laughed and patted her head as usual. "It's nothing, I was just joking."

"real?"

“Really.” He said each word slowly and deliberately. “Remember, I will never lie to you, never.”

Jiang Can nodded hesitantly, leaning against his bare chest. Listening to the familiar heartbeat, the unease in her heart slowly subsided.

This man is usually serious and doesn't smile much, but he is exceptionally serious about everything.

It seems I can't joke with him like that anymore.

She smiled, a sweet feeling welling up in her heart. She leaned against him, closed her eyes, and soon fell into a deep sleep.

...

Gu Mang stayed by her side all night without sleeping.

Just as dawn was breaking, my phone suddenly lit up; it was a picture sent by Bai Jingyuan.

The photo shows several men in black acting suspiciously, with the street background showing the vicinity of their rented small apartment.

He suddenly became alert, immediately got up, and went to the balcony to make a phone call.

"What happened?"

"It was sent by my men," Bai Jingyuan said in a low voice. "Third Brother, I heard these guys have been following my sister-in-law for many days!"

Gu Mang narrowed his eyes, a sharp glint flashing in them.

"Are they my second uncle's men?"

"I suppose so," Bai Jingyuan scoffed. "I've checked; he's one of Su Chen's men."

"What exactly is he trying to do?!"

"He's probably eager to show off in front of your second uncle. After all, Huo Zhanhe had always firmly believed that you were in England!"

Gu Mang's expression darkened slightly, and after a moment a cold smile appeared on his lips.

"Since he wants to gain favor with the Huo family, it doesn't matter who he does it for."

"Huh? Third Brother, what does this mean?"

"Take some men and go find him."

Gu Mang lowered his voice and spoke into the phone.

...

Su Chen was tied up and thrown into a room.

At first he was shouting, but later his mouth was gagged, his head was covered with a sack, and he couldn't move at all.

With a dull thud, he fell heavily to the ground, feeling dizzy and in pain.

Only then did someone remove the burlap sack from his mouth and tear off the tape.

He was about to unleash a torrent of curses at whoever it was when he suddenly met a pair of mocking, teasing eyes.

"Young Master Bai...?"

"Long time no see, President Su!"

Su Chen's mind went blank for a moment, and he couldn't remember when he had offended this young master.

He looked around and saw a large group of bodyguards, each with an extremely serious and expressionless face. He swallowed back all the questions he wanted to ask.

"President Su." Bai Jingyuan squatted down in front of him, taking out a stack of photos from his suit pocket. "Do you recognize this one?"

Su Chen looked at the photos and realized they were all of his people following Jiang Can!

"This...this really is a mystery! Oh, Young Master Bai, is Miss Jiang in trouble?"

"Don't you know whether she's run into trouble or not?" Bai Jingyuan slapped him hard across the face with the photo.

Su Chen panicked and immediately knelt on the ground, begging for mercy.

"Mr. Bai... I really don't know what's going on! My relationship with Miss Jiang is purely professional. She's a very capable person, and our previous collaborations have all been very pleasant..."

Bai Jingyuan glanced at him disdainfully, knowing he was spouting nonsense.

"Su Chen, let me be frank with you. You've been having people follow Jiang Can because you want to know Gu Mang's identity, right?"

Su Chen sensed impending doom and stammered, unable to speak.

"Heh, you guessed right... that's my third brother! Huo Zhixing, the third young master of the Huo family!"

Bai Jingyuan enunciated each word clearly, then curled his lips into a sinister smile.

Su Chen was so frightened that he lost his mind.

It turns out he was the clown. He thought he was spying on others from the shadows, but he never imagined that he was being monitored himself.

Bai Jingyuan pulled out a dagger; its gleaming light in the dim light sent chills down one's spine. A moment later, he drew a revolver, the click of a bullet being chambered ringing out crisply in the dim light.

Su Chen braced himself against the concrete floor and backed away step by step, his eyes filled with terror.

"Young Master Bai..."

“My third brother said,” Bai Jingyuan chuckled, “Since someone is so eager to reveal his identity, we might as well send him back to his hometown. Because in this world, only the dead can’t speak!”

The moment he finished speaking, he pressed the gun firmly against Su Chen's head!

Su Chen was so terrified he wet himself and screamed incoherently.

Bai Jingyuan then pressed the dagger against his neck.

"You'd feel great if you used bullets. But stabbing me piece by piece with a knife...that would be so much fun!"

"I wonder which approach Mr. Su thinks is better?"

“Or,” Bai Jingyuan scoffed, “you could call your second master and ask him how he wants you to die?”
