The headmaster was the first to lose face.
"Teacher Xu, what nonsense are you talking about? The vote count is right here, it's all laid out clearly. Who are you accusing of rigging the results? Are you talking about me?!"
"Principal, I wouldn't dare say anything against you!" Xu Wei said sarcastically. "But with such a large gap in votes, I absolutely don't believe it! You didn't rig it; maybe someone is feeling guilty and has pulled some dirty tricks behind the scenes?"
"you……"
The headmistress was so angry she couldn't speak; she was never good at arguing with this kind of person.
“Teacher Xu, you must take responsibility for what you said.” Song Wan stood up, calm and composed, and looked at her indifferently. “I don’t think I have offended you in any way. This selection process was open, fair and transparent. If I really wanted to do something underhanded, why would I need to count the votes in front of everyone?”
Xu Wei glared at her angrily.
Song Wan is usually quiet, so everyone assumes she's easy to bully.
But she speaks with reason and evidence, and she doesn't give in weakly when faced with problems, which makes everyone look at her with new respect.
This also brought a warm smile to Lin Zhaojiang's face as he stood at the door.
He stood outside all day, witnessing everything that happened in the conference room.
When Song Wan's votes were far ahead, his arrogant demeanor stunned his subordinates.
“Miss Song is truly remarkable,” the subordinate said with a smile, “She’s completely different from before…”
Lin Zhaojiang smiled. Perhaps Song Wan hadn't changed from the past to the present; it was just that during the time she was with him, she had been too cautious and had lost herself.
"Mr. Lin, that guy surnamed Xu, how about we...?"
"No rush," Lin Zhaojiang said confidently. "She'll get what's coming to her."
No sooner had he finished speaking than an even more heated argument erupted inside.
"I will definitely report this matter to the Education Bureau and have them send someone to investigate it thoroughly!"
"I just don't believe that a young girl with only a few years of teaching experience could have any unique teaching expertise. Teaching is all about years of experience! It's no wonder the votes were rigged!"
"Teacher Xu!" the principal said sternly, "If you continue to spout such nonsense, I can terminate your employment contract!"
"Ha, trying to scare me with this?" Xu Wei gritted her teeth. "Don't think I don't know... your junior brother seems to have been pursuing Teacher Song, hasn't he?"
What do you mean by that?
"What wouldn't a man do to make a beautiful woman smile?!"
The headmaster's eyes widened, and his fingers trembled slightly.
"Who can't see through Lin Zhaojiang's intentions?" Xu Wei continued, "From the very first day he came to the kindergarten, he's had his eye on Teacher Song! He must have put in a lot of effort for this selection, right? Heh... It seems being young and pretty has its advantages! If you can't rely on yourself, you can always rely on a man!"
“Teacher Xu, I have always respected you as a senior in this field, but please don’t be so harsh!” Song Wan said solemnly. “I was elected based on my own abilities and my genuine dedication to the children. I didn’t rely on anyone! I respect you, but please have some self-respect. What you said is not befitting of a teacher!”
"Haha..." Xu Wei laughed wildly, "Then what kind of behavior is appropriate for a teacher? Like you, having an engagement with the young master of the Bai family while also hooking up with a rich old man? Teacher Song, you wouldn't have had your engagement broken off by the Bai family because of your entanglement with him, would you?"
"you……"
"If you can't speak properly, then shut your mouth!"
Suddenly a stern voice came from outside the door.
The conference room fell silent as a tall, imposing figure appeared, exuding a commanding presence.
The headmaster finally saw his savior, rushed over, patted him on the shoulder, and whispered, "Why are you only arriving now!"
A smile flashed in Lin Zhaojiang's eyes.
But when his gaze fell on Xu Wei's face, the smile gradually disappeared, replaced by a cold and sharp look like a knife.
"Ahem!" The principal straightened his back and said in a loud voice, "Today, I not only want to announce the voting results, but I also want to announce something else..."
The principal took out a document, and on the last page, in addition to the kindergarten's official seal, there was Lin Zhaojiang's strong and powerful signature.
"Mr. Lin has invested five million in our kindergarten and is now the largest shareholder of the international kindergarten! We are very grateful to Mr. Lin for his contributions to early childhood education. Of course, we will also stay true to our original aspirations and will never let Mr. Lin down!"
Everyone looked at each other, stunned for a long while, before bursting into enthusiastic applause.
Song Wan was still a little dazed, feeling her heart pounding and her cheeks flush slightly.
When she met Lin Zhaojiang's burning gaze, she turned her face away, but the smile on her lips betrayed her.
Lin Zhaojiang smiled slightly and looked at everyone.
"Now that I have become a shareholder of the kindergarten, everything I do should be based on the interests of our international kindergarten."
“So…” he stared at Xu Wei, “I’m going to reorganize the teaching staff!”
Xu Wei involuntarily took two steps back, her eyes filled with unease.
"Some people are no longer suitable for this team," Lin Zhaojiang said in a deep voice. "Their own values are warped, and they'll set a bad example for the children!"
"What?" Xu Wei's voice trembled slightly, "Is Mr. Lin talking about me?"
"So many people haven't responded, why are you the only one who did?" Lin Zhaojiang sneered. "Since you're so aware of this, then that's fine, I won't waste my breath!"
"President Lin, you..."
"This is a fair competition!" Lin Zhaojiang's eyes sharpened. "You feel it's unfair because your inner demons are at play. How can someone with inner demons be a teacher?"
Xu Wei's legs went weak; if she hadn't been leaning against the wall, she would have definitely fallen.
Her hands clenched tightly, and her whole body trembled. But facing Lin Zhaojiang, she dared not speak out against him.
"President Lin, I'm just questioning the voting results..."
"It's alright," Lin Zhaojiang said casually. "Whichever part you question, I'll have my assistant pull it up for you, until you're completely convinced of your defeat. But after you've finished questioning, I'd also like to see your resignation letter... After all, you've been a veteran teacher in this field for many years, and it wouldn't look good if you were fired!"
Xu Wei turned around stiffly, her face pale, and slowly moved towards the door.
The atmosphere in the meeting room quickly returned to normal.
After the principal finished counting the votes, she immediately announced Song Wan as the outstanding teacher of the year.
Colleagues offered their congratulations one after another. Song Wan smiled shyly, and through the crowd, she saw those gentle yet passionate eyes.
A thought struck her, as if a kitten's claws were scratching at her heart.
Just then, her phone rang; it was a message from Lin Zhaojiang.
"Let's celebrate tonight, it's on me."
