Since the guests have already arrived, there is no reason to turn them away.
Jiang Can linked arms with Huo Zhixing and followed behind He Jin. The Yin family manor often hosted royalty and nobility, but it was still quite rare for them to come at this time.
Fortunately, He Jin was approachable and only left one butler, not wanting such a grand display.
After the butler served tea and refreshments, Huo Zhixing asked him to leave.
Only the three of them remained in the living room.
Jiang Can looked at Huo Zhixing's face, which looked like it could be pinched ink, and couldn't help but find it a little funny.
She quietly took her husband's hand and gave him a gentle yet firm look.
Huo Zhixing's face immediately softened, and he returned a gentle smile. The two looked at each other, seemingly forgetting that there were other people around, their gazes fixed only on each other.
"Cough cough!"
He Jin's light cough brought the two of them back to reality.
Jiang Can quickly let go of his hand, but Huo Zhixing wouldn't allow it. The moment she broke free from him, he tightly grasped her small hand in his palm again.
"Everyone says that Chairman Yin and his wife have an unbreakable bond," He Jin chuckled, "but in my opinion, Mr. Huo and Mrs. Huo's relationship is also quite enviable!"
Jiang Can blushed slightly and lowered her eyelids.
Huo Zhixing smiled and, in the manner of a family head, invited He Jin to have tea.
"This tea is from Yangcheng. If it suits Your Highness's taste, I will have it sent to you every year."
He Jin smiled politely and took a sip. The tea was refreshing and of just the right strength; it was truly a rare find.
"I've long heard that the Huo family, the head of the four major families in Yangcheng, has excellent taste, and you can tell just from their choice of tea!"
"This tea is a type of green tea." Huo Zhixing's expression was cool, and the smile did not reach his eyes. "Actually, drinking tea is like a woman wearing jewelry; what kind of person should drink what kind of tea! Your Highness, am I right?"
"Hmm, that's a novel viewpoint... and quite correct!"
He Jin didn't quite understand the meaning behind those words, and just chuckled foolishly.
Jiang Can, however, understood the hidden meaning in Huo Zhixing's words and couldn't help but pinch his palm hard.
Huo Zhixing exclaimed softly and glared at her.
Jiang Can suppressed a laugh.
He Jin did not miss their little actions.
He looked at Jiang Can quietly, his gaze finally settling on Huo Zhixing.
His gaze was somewhat complicated, but he quickly looked away.
Huo Zhixing thought he was looking at Jiang Can, and couldn't help but get annoyed.
It's shameless enough to covet someone else's wife, but now that he's at home, he dares to stare at her so openly?!
No man could stand that!
So what if he's a prince? Even a prince has to have morals and abide by the law and social norms!
Huo Zhixing straightened up, the darkness in his eyes deepening.
However, he remained outwardly nonchalant, chatting and laughing with He Jin over tea.
The two talked about everything from international affairs to politics and economics, from religion and philosophy to literature and art, from astronomy and geography to modern technology.
From Formula 1 to the Champions League...
The language of conversation has also transitioned from Chinese to English, French, Spanish, and so on.
Jiang Can listened in stunned silence.
Time passed slowly, but the two showed no sign of stopping, and the hostility in Huo Zhixing's eyes grew stronger.
He was determined to outdo He Jin, as if he were in a competition.
Jiang Can glanced at her watch, a little anxious. Little Junyu should be awake by now; he'd be scared if he woke up and couldn't see his parents…
"I'm sorry, I..."
Just as Jiang Can was about to interrupt them, He Jin smiled slightly and said first, "It's getting late, you should rest too, right?"
Jiang Can was somewhat stunned.
He Jin stood up and said politely, "I won't bother you any longer."
Just then, a cry came from upstairs.
Jiang Can's heart clenched instantly. Ignoring the fact that He Jin was still in the living room, she ran upstairs in a few steps.
Huo Zhixing glanced at He Jin.
This guy has actually started eyeing the nursery?
He was about to say something when he heard He Jin chuckle in a low voice, "Your son cries really loudly."
Huo Zhixing was slightly taken aback.
The next second, she met He Jin's gentle gaze.
"Young Master Huo, after talking for so long, you still don't recognize me?"
"What did you say?" Huo Zhixing's brow furrowed.
He Jin smiled, turned around and walked out of the living room.
A cloud of doubt hung over Huo Zhixing's mind. He searched every corner of his memory, but he couldn't find any information about this person.
Perhaps he was just being deliberately mysterious.
After all, if he really took a liking to Jiang Can, he would definitely try to disrupt Huo Zhixing and take advantage of the situation.
Huo Zhixing composed himself and personally saw him out.
When I returned to the living room, Jiang Can had already gone downstairs.
"How is our son?" Huo Zhixing asked softly.
"I just fed her and she's already asleep."
"Oh," the man replied casually, and quickly went upstairs.
Jiang Can followed closely behind, and then she saw the man pause at the door of the nursery, and then pause at the door of the master bedroom... Then Jiang Can looked up and met his incredulous gaze.
"You...you got him into our bed?"
"Shh, keep your voice down!" Jiang Can quickly pushed him into the guest room next door. "Don't disturb our son!"
Huo Zhixing's eyes widened.
What? Not only do you have to give up your big bed to that little thing, but now you can't even speak at home?
He pouted, and a dark cloud drifted across his face.
Jiang Can chuckled softly, then nestled against his arm like a little bird, leaning against his shoulder.
She knew he was very unhappy that night.
Another man escorted her to her doorstep and then casually came in to drink tea and chat.
