Yin Ruohong found it strange and kept asking questions on the phone, eventually getting punched on the head by his wife.
"Are you stupid!" Yin Wenxi was furious at his lack of self-confidence. "Junyu must have his reasons for making such a request! Just do as he says, why all the nonsense?"
"But...this child is acting strangely!"
"What's wrong? The child won't hurt you!" Yin Wenxi rolled her eyes at him, snatched the phone, and said, "Junyu! Hehe, don't worry, Grandma will handle it. Grandma will turn it off for you right away!"
"Yes, thank you, Grandma!"
"Does that mean... bodyguards aren't allowed around either?"
"Grandma, you're amazing!"
Yin Wenxi smiled, then turned to the butler and instructed, "Pass down the word: no one is allowed to go to the backyard tonight, and no one is allowed to disturb Young Master Yu!"
Huo Junyu hung up the phone with satisfaction and was about to change his clothes when Huo Junyang called.
"elder brother!"
Huo Junyu paused, then frowned. "Where are you? Why is it so noisy?"
"I have arrived in Jiangzhou."
"What?" Huo Junyu exclaimed in surprise, "You came here too? What about Mom and Dad? What are you doing here?"
Usually, it's his younger brother who bombards him with a barrage of questions, but today it's his turn to hurl three soul-searching questions at Huo Junyang.
Huo Junyang, contrary to his usual self, didn't tease him with a joke. Instead, he coughed twice and lowered his voice to tell him, "Brother, there's something... I have to tell you. I came with Xiaoyouzi."
Huo Junyu opened his eyes wide and remained silent.
“But Xiaoyouzi is strange,” Huo Junyang continued, “She seems preoccupied. Every time she looks at me, it’s as if she has a lot to say, but she just won’t say anything. I can’t guess what’s on her mind!”
"She has something to say but can't say it. Perhaps she doesn't trust you enough, or perhaps she has her own difficulties and isn't ready."
Huo Junyu said in a low voice, "Keep a close eye on things, and contact me immediately if you get any news."
"And you? When are you coming back?"
"I'll go back after things are settled here in Southeast Asia."
Huo Junyang scoffed, "They're going on a study tour, what are you doing there?"
“I…I’m seeing my maternal grandparents and my uncle.”
"So? You saw them?"
"Huo Junyang!" Huo Junyu gritted his teeth and whispered, "If you utter another word, I'll deal with you when I get back to Jiangzhou!"
Huo Junyang chuckled for a while on the other end of the line, and then the two hung up.
Soon, Jiang Mianmian changed her clothes and came out, excitedly taking his hand as they set off.
Under the cover of night, the two circled around to the back of the Yin family manor.
"Huo Yu, there really is a small path here... but it's so dark!"
"Huo Yu, it seems the online reports were right, there really is no one guarding this place!"
"Ah, Huo Yu!"
Jiang Mianmian shouted.
Huo Junyu, who was following behind, was startled and feared that she was in danger. He rushed over and hugged her.
The little girl, however, was captivated by the scene before her.
She covered her mouth with both hands, staring wide-eyed at the dreamlike scene. Countless fireflies danced among the trees, illuminating the entire rainforest, the croaking of frogs filled the air, and the chirping of birds echoed through the forest, clear and melodious.
Each firefly is like a star fallen from the sky, and the deep blue night sky echoes the rainforest, creating a scene so beautiful it feels unreal.
Huo Junyu smiled, gently bent down, and in this beautiful moment, his kiss landed tenderly on her lips.
Jiang Mianmian felt dizzy and involuntarily reached out her small hand to hook around his neck, slightly out of breath.
“Mianmian,” Huo Junyu chuckled softly, “so many fireflies are watching us.”
Jiang Mianmian pursed her lips and quickly moved her small hands away from him, but he hugged her waist even tighter, and she pressed her whole body against him.
Huo Junyu never imagined that one day he would have to walk through the backyard and take a detour to see fireflies in his own yard, but when he saw her surprised and delighted moment just now, he felt as if he had gained the satisfaction of the whole world.
"This place is so beautiful!" Jiang Mianmian exclaimed. "I would gladly stay here for even a day!"
"What if... we could live here for a lifetime?" He looked into her eyes.
Jiang Mianmian's heart skipped a beat.
Suddenly, a sense of unease washed over her, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Huo Junyu looked at her quietly, his deep eyes unpredictable, making him impossible for her to fathom.
"It's getting late," she whispered. "Let's hurry back! Rich people like them all have bodyguards. If we get spotted by them here, we'll be in big trouble!"
Huo Junyu nodded in agreement.
Just a moment ago, he almost blurted out that he was Huo Junyu, not Huo Yu.
But he swallowed the words back.
He came to Jiangzhou to create a fake identity for convenience, and he never expected that he would fall in love with a certain young woman there.
On the way back to the hotel, he held her hand the whole time, his mind a jumble of thoughts.
One thought that kept popping into her mind was, if she knew his true identity, would the two of them still be walking hand in hand on the street like this, their shadows lengthened by the moonlight?
He knew that Mianmian was not a materialistic girl.
But the more this type of girl is, the more emotional she is.
The more sentimental you are, the more you hate being deceived...
Huo Junyu was in a state of utter confusion, and before he knew it, the two of them had arrived at the hotel entrance.
Just as Jiang Mianmian reminded him that the two of them should walk one in front of the other, a familiar voice suddenly came:
"Oh, isn't this Mr. Huo?"
Jiang Mianmian's heart skipped a beat. She looked over and saw Xia Zhi standing on the stone steps at the hotel entrance with her arms crossed, looking at the two of them with a half-smile.
"Mianmian, so your husband came to see you? Where is he staying? Is he sharing a room with you?"
"Heh, Mianmian, don't blame me for not reminding you, you registered with one identity card but two people are staying in the room, that's illegal in Southeast Asia!"
“Xia Zhi.” Jiang Mianmian bit her lip, took a deep breath, and smiled at her. “When it comes to breaking the law, you seem to have more to say than I do.”
"Did you just get bailed out of the police station? I suggest you ask the person who bailed you to come up with another plan. You might have gotten away with it in Nanyang, but once you get back to Jiangzhou, the Gu family probably won't let you off easily!"
