Before Ye Chen could even open his eyes, he was grabbed and lifted up.
The excruciating pain from the wound caused even the usually gentle and refined man to scream hysterically.
"Oh dear, I'm so sorry!" Sang Qing quickly apologized. "I found some good medicine and I was so excited that I forgot you were injured..."
Ye Chen gasped.
The phenomenon of "forgetting about the injury" has happened many times these days.
He asked himself honestly, and as a lawyer, he had never taken bribes, always upheld justice, and always spoken out for the people. He had never done anything wrong!
Why did fate have to send such an nemesis to help him "heal his wounds"?
Ye Chen smiled wryly, looking at the girl's innocent face, he could only be forced to soften his heart.
"I've never taken care of anyone before," Sang Qing said softly, then handed him the water and medicine. "You're my first man!"
"puff……"
Ye Chen spat out all the water he had just drunk.
Sang Qing hurriedly grabbed a towel to wipe herself, blinking her big eyes as she did so, "Did I say something wrong? You really are the first, and a man! So..."
"Mixed-race person, you can't use Chinese like that!" Ye Chen said helplessly.
Sang Qing can speak Chinese, but having lived in the UK for many years, her pronunciation has become less standard.
She shrugged and laughed nonchalantly.
Seeing Ye Chen take the medicine, Sang Qing was very happy: "This is Gypsy medicine. Do you know Gypsies?"
"Yes, I know."
"They wander around, and getting injured is commonplace for them, so they're particularly adept at dealing with knife wounds, gunshot wounds, and bruises! Your injury is nothing to them!"
Ye Chen smiled and said, "Anyway, I'm just trying anything now, so I'll do whatever you say."
"What?" Sang Qing didn't understand. "You're still alive, not a dead horse!"
Ye Chen nodded. Perhaps it was the placebo effect of the "miracle drug" that made him feel that his wounds no longer hurt and that he felt much better.
Sang Qing was about to change her clothes and told him to close his eyes.
Ye Chen closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, the girl had changed into her usual T-shirt and jeans, and was holding his jacket in her hand, looking at it back and forth.
Why are you looking at this?
The jacket was the one he wore the day he encountered the thugs; it had two holes pierced in it and congealed bloodstains.
Sang Qing looked at him, then at the coat, and sighed in regret.
"This is a big brand, I usually can't even touch it, and it's all punctured like this, sigh..."
Her expression was as if she were looking at a ruined treasure, and this coat was nothing more than the most ordinary piece in his wardrobe.
Ye Chen suddenly felt a strange, indescribable feeling in his heart.
"By the way, I noticed your shirt is a high-end brand." Sang Qing looked at him. "You're dressed so elegantly, why are you in that alley? Someone like you shouldn't be around here!"
"I'm a foreigner and I'm not familiar with this place. I was brought here by a taxi driver," Ye Chen said in a low voice.
"I understand, they set you up!" Sang Qing leaned closer, her big eyes blinking, and smiled mischievously. "You must be very rich, right?"
She exudes a faint fragrance when you get close.
It's not perfume, but a scent unique to young girls, like the fresh scent of spring grass.
It's a miracle that she could grow up so well in such harsh conditions.
Ye Chen smiled bitterly, "All the money on me was stolen, and now I'm destitute."
Sang Qing pouted. She wanted to throw his coat away, but after thinking it over, she couldn't bear to part with it and hung it on the hanger instead.
"With a little mending, it should be alright," she muttered to herself. "After all, it's a big international brand; I can probably get some money on the secondhand market!"
"you……"
Ye Chen was both amused and exasperated.
Sang Qing didn't care and took the money out of her pocket.
This is all today's revenue.
She carefully smoothed out each of the colorful banknotes, counted them, and put them into a small tin box, smiling with satisfaction.
Ye Chen was curious about where her income came from.
Sang Qing turned to look at him, very alert, and quietly put the small box away.
"Don't worry, I won't touch your money." Ye Chen saw through her little scheme. "But could you please do me a favor and help me contact my friend? I promise to give you a large sum of money..."
"Impossible!" Sang Qing interrupted him.
"Sang Qing, please!"
"Don't even think about it! I absolutely will not call the police!"
A look of embarrassment and anger appeared on her pretty face, a fierce expression that was completely different from the girl who had taken such good care of him.
Ye Chen's heart skipped a beat. "I'm not calling the police, I'm just contacting my friend..."
"Your friends will definitely call the police!" Sang Qing shouted. "Anyway... if you ruin my life, I won't let you get away with it!"
After saying that, she glared at him, turned around and left, slamming the door shut with a deafening bang.
Ye Chen heard the familiar sound of the door locking again. He panicked and wanted to get out of bed to stop her, but his physical condition wouldn't allow it.
He struggled to sit up, shouting through the pain, "Sang Qing!"
The footsteps outside the door grew fainter and fainter.
He was furious and slammed his fist on the bed.
That feeling of helplessness filled his heart again. He lay on the bed, looking at the moldy ceiling and sighing.
...
A private plane from Southeast Asia landed smoothly at Manchester Airport.
Nie Xin arrived at the hotel escorted by several people and immediately saw Tang Yilan waiting in the lobby.
He rushed to England to comfort her, and the first thing he saw when he met her was her haggard appearance, her sunken eyes and heavy dark circles, and how she had become so thin that she looked unrecognizable.
