Chapter 35 The First Time

Gu Mang's breath caught in his throat, and he suddenly pulled her into his arms.

Her slender waist was so small that he could wrap his arm around it with one hand, while he gently lifted her chin with the other.

He looked into her eyes, her pupils clear as springs, her pale pink lips slightly parted, like a silent temptation.

Gu Mang felt a fire burning inside him, reaching even the most embarrassing places.

Jiang Can avoided his burning gaze, her face flushed, and her breathing became rapid. She felt his hot chest, his strong heartbeat, and his powerful masculine aura... She felt her body go weak, and before his kiss landed, she gently pushed him away.

"No," she smiled shyly, "I still have to cook."

Gu Mang stopped, a dark light flashing in his deep eyes.

"Tonight..." Jiang Can's voice was thin and weak. She managed to utter these three words, and her face turned red with embarrassment in an instant.

"Don't sleep on the sofa tonight, it's uncomfortable. Come sleep in the room."

Gu Mang was taken aback.

This was probably the most unrestrained thing she could say...

He suppressed a laugh, his thumb brushing against her flushed earlobe, and responded softly in a hoarse voice, "Okay."

After dinner, Gu Mang went into the bathroom.

Normally, a shower only takes ten minutes, but this time it took almost an hour. Jiang Can cut up some fruit and watched TV for a while, but he still hadn't come out; all that could be heard was the occasional sound of running water.

Jiang Can's cheeks flushed. She went inside, changed into her pajamas, and sat awkwardly on the edge of the bed.

Her little hands were so nervous she didn't know where to put them.

What will he do to her in a moment? He's tall and strong, with a muscular build, and he's probably stronger than the average person...

Jiang Can pursed her lips and chuckled, then felt too embarrassed by her thoughts, and wished she could droop her head to her chest.

Just then, the sound of running water in the bathroom suddenly stopped. Jiang Can was startled and clutched the corner of her nightgown tightly.

Gu Mang's footsteps approached from afar.

Her heart pounded, her little feet crossed over each other, a mixture of nervousness and anticipation in her voice.

She had only read about wedding nights in novels before, and as a young girl, she had also longed for those beautiful scenes, dreaming of marrying the person she loved and having a night she would never forget.

Although it wasn't their wedding night, this was her first time with Gu Mang...

Jiang Can couldn't help but smile sweetly.

Hopefully... everything will turn out as described in the book, so she can cherish the memories for a lifetime.

However, at that moment, a sudden, urgent doorbell rang.

Jiang Can was startled. The moment she opened the door, she was shocked to see Yin Cheng standing outside, his face covered in injuries and his body disheveled. Upon seeing her, he burst into tears, feeling wronged.

"What happened?" Jiang Can hurriedly pulled him into the house. "Did you get into a fight?"

“Sister…” Yin Cheng looked at her with red eyes, choked up for a long time, and couldn’t even say a complete sentence.

Jiang Can was extremely anxious and had completely forgotten about Gu Mang. It wasn't until Gu Mang coughed lightly that she came back to her senses, slowly turned around, and saw his face with furrowed brows and full of doubt. Her heart skipped a beat.

She's Jiang Yao now, and Jiang Yao doesn't have a younger brother...

"This, this is my cousin." She forced a smile, secretly giving Yin Cheng a wink.

Yin Cheng paused for a moment, glanced at Gu Mang, and immediately understood his sister's meaning. This man in front of him must be the one his sister had taken as a substitute bride… so this man didn't know his identity yet, and he absolutely couldn't cause trouble for his sister.

"Xiao Cheng," Jiang Can said softly, "Quickly call him brother-in-law!"

Yin Cheng obediently greeted Jiang Can with "Hello, brother-in-law," and then kept hiding behind him.

He looked at Gu Mang timidly, feeling that there was an indescribable imposing aura about this man. Didn't his sister feel oppressed living with someone like this every day?

Gu Mang nodded slightly, silently took out the first-aid kit, and had Yin Cheng sit on the sofa while he applied the medicine to him.

Yin Cheng was seriously injured. His forehead was swollen and red, and a large patch of skin on his leg was torn off. The wound was stuck to his pants, and any movement caused excruciating pain.

Even though Gu Mang was very gentle, Yin Cheng's face still turned pale with pain and she was covered in sweat.

"What exactly happened? Who hit you?" Jiang Can asked, tears streaming down her face. "Who did you offend?"

Yin Cheng pursed her lips tightly and remained silent.

Jiang Can grew anxious and pressed for answers, but no matter what she asked, Yin Cheng wouldn't utter a single word.

Gu Mang patted her shoulder, giving her a reassuring look, and then helped Yin Cheng to the balcony. Jiang Can saw the two close the sliding door, and after a short while, Yin Cheng seemed to be talking to Gu Mang, wiping away tears as she spoke.

When Gu Mang came out, Jiang Can hurriedly stepped forward and asked, "How did it go?"

"He was bullied at school." Gu Mang's expression was cold, with a slight anger furrowed between his two sword-like eyebrows.

Jiang Can felt a pang in her heart, and the urge to cry surged up again.

“It’s a group of older students who think your brother is easy to bully. They’ve been blocking him on his way to and from school every day, demanding money from him. If Yin Cheng doesn’t have any money, he’s bound to get a beating.” Gu Mang bit his lip. “Just now, when they didn’t get any money, they grabbed his hair and slammed his head against the wall, so his head injury is quite serious.”

Jiang Can gasped and wanted to go to the balcony to check on him, but Gu Mang gently stopped her.

"Don't go yet," he whispered in her ear. "Boys this age have strong pride and don't want you to see him like this. Wait until he calms down before you go."

"Hmm." Jiang Can nodded, then suddenly felt puzzled. Her own younger brother, instead of telling her about the bullying, told this brother-in-law he had only met once?

Gu Mang seemed to see through her thoughts and smiled slightly, "Some things can only be said between men."

Jiang Can shook her head, "He's only sixteen, what kind of man is he!"

“Don’t underestimate me.” Gu Mang smiled. “When I was sixteen, I was already…”

He swallowed his words halfway through.

Jiang Can was taken aback, then looked up at him. "What happened?"
